Well, one thing I'm glad for is that the modern trilogy is not being given the middle finger for this remake. Some of the music and sound effects are very much bringing that distinct flair into TTYD, which I find both refreshing and neat. Not quite sure how to feel about the overall presentation yet, though. Most of the remixes so far feel so different, they don't really give off the same vibe as their original counterparts (Rogueport feels a whole lot less seedy than it used to, for example). But hey, maybe it'll grow on me in time. At the very least, the unease I felt going into this video was no longer there by the time it ended, so clearly the game-and/or the commentary-is doing something right :V
Wow, what a nostalgia trip this’ll be. Like you said, almost like home- might as well be, since it’s what my childhood was built off of. Gonna miss that original enemy death sound, though. There was something about it that was so satisfying, but I can’t put my finger on it…
1:45 Wait, isn't it stated the robot fish were created by the X-nauts, how would there be one in the waters during the opening, which takes place over a thousand years ago?
In the original game you could press Z to reread previous dialogue, did they remove that here like skipping text? Never liked how clear the sky is in Rogueport, it clashes so much with the aesthetic
It would a miracle if Sony didn't copyright claim considering their track record with you. As for the remake, it looks really good so far since it doesn't look like it's given a half-assed treatment. I really hope they don't mess up with the fast travel. A ton of people complain about the backtracking that plagued Chapter 4 and 7 and would cut some time running to the same locations.

Hey there! It's been a while. Didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily, did ya'? I'm still subscribed and everything! ... Alright, in all seriousness, it's good to be back. TTYD playthroughs *are* a sort of... hallmark of this place, so it's nice that we can go on this adventure yet another time! Even if I do agree with your thoughts that 64 should have gotten a touch-up, too... It's the only one I haven't played. I also am passing on this remaster here, mostly because I actually had to spend an embarrassing sum on an authentic Gamecube disk back when I realized I could actually buy old games online. So hey, I'll actually be in for some surprises this time, and... tell you less about things you missed. Everyone wins...? (I honestly remember nothing of the secrets, anyway - good on you for finding those pieces so soon.) As for my thoughts... Honestly, this is looking really good. A nice mix of the modern Papery Paper Mario identity and the original TTYD's whole visual appeal. The layered and textured bodies, dynamic shadows/lighting, the new expressions and animations... And of course, the music! It's about as fresh as a fresh coat of graphics-paint can get, I'd say. Plus, the new text bleeps sound nice. Clever to use the N64 Bob-omb chatter for Bob-ombs and a Toad Squawk for Toads, messing with the pitch for different characters. Really intrigued to see what they'll have done for the other areas and characters. I'm also curious if there'll be new secrets for this remake... I guess we'll see! ... I also wonder if the Owls will manage to challenge the Channel Record Board, with that new extra counter in tow. It's been an age since I've seen that leaderboard, but I still think another TTYD playthrough holds the #1 spot, right? Not sure when you showed it off last, so it's not like I can go and check... Anyway, in every meaning of the phrase... it's good to be back!
