I was a little upset at first, but then like an hour later, I looked back at the pre-draft scouting of Suggs and Barnes, I found that Barnes fit the current team so much better because of his attitude towards the game, and from there, I started to be a believer in Scottie. This man is the future of the team and we have him for the next 10 years AT LEAST! I am excited to be a Raps fan rn

Raptors fan here! I wasn’t happy or sad that we picked Scottie because I didn’t know much about him so I looked at scouting reports and convinced myself that he was gonna be the best player. I’m very happy now 👍
My initial response was I was hyped cause I knew if Masai did it it was good I was honestly never sold on Suggs weirdly

I checked my phone after the draft and didn’t let it go for a day, but after summer league and watching college highlights I started to get hyped, and now I’m really happy w the pick and it’s starting to work with our other starters too

As a raptors fan my initial reaction was shocked because I think we all at the time knew that Suggs was the consensus 4th pick, but my logic was that maybe the raptors make a move to keep Lowry at the time, and I still maintained positivity because masai has made great moves especially with the draft and off season so I wasn’t really mad just confused

As a raptors fan, at first tbh I was upset with the pick, but only because the media was saying Suggs was this franchise player, and scottie was gonna be a role player and a "0 level scorer", I had no idea of what players were like in this draft at all, cuz our team has been winning games for so long so I couldn't care less about who we draft, but yea the media low-key overrated suggs

Barnes or Mobley will win ROTY if they continue to play the way they are playing. I was expecting the Raptors to pick Suggs on draft night because of the whole narrative that Kyle wanted to play in Miami. That was the perfect reason for everyone to believe they are drafting a replacement point guard. Scottie was definitely the right pick. Has stellar defense, makes hustle plays, has playmaking abilities, high basketball IQ, can actually shoot when everyone, especially the media said he couldn't. The guy has exceeded expectations. Cade is getting into his rhythm, and Mobley is playing well but we all expected this from them. NO ONE expected Barnes to be THIS good and can shoot with that much confidence. The guy has way more confidence than Pascal. He also came into the league as a 6'8 PG/F and is not officially listed as 6'9". If he can get to 6'10 - 6'11, he will be the second coming of Giannis that Masai always wanted.
I was upset at first, then I watched Scottie play. Now I’m absolutely ecstatic we have him. He can do it all on the court.
I was upset for like an hour, then I put in some research/ found out about his personality. Then that instantly changed. I was super hyped for him, like (base level take) Jalen Suggs biggest concern is that he didn't shoot that well for a guard. Scottie had the same concern, but had height, athleticism, attitude, and arguably better passing, and way better defence. Scottie is a premium version of a raptors draft pick. He is a player who is tall, athletic and would be scary AF if he developed a jump-shot. The raptors have developed multiple types of players like that. So am I gonna take a possible John wall, or a possible Magic Johnson who can actually defend smaller quicker guards. So suffice it too say as a key board warrior I was more than happy with the pick. As a raptors fan who watch ball game, I was very happy we got barnes over suggs. I knew my team needs more length and I want Mobley but had no idea Scottie this good. All of us who are in a group knew we struggling with rebounds and hell we tired of mismatch in playoff with running Fred and Kyle in same rotation. Now it’s our turn once we got a 7 feet center, then having pascal, OG and Scottie to make mismatch for any team

I wasn't upset that we drafted scottie. He was flying up draft boards and he looked like the perfect raptors prospect. I issue was that we didn't get any compensation for not selecting suggs. I would've liked to see us move down for some additional assets. However, it was later leaked that the magic were not sold on either suggs or barnes so it wasn't possible for us to move down.
Barnes won rookie of the year award today... yeah i would say you got burned on this one.. extra krispy style :)

I liked barnes at 8... at 4 I wanted us to make a move to get evan mobley.. i also liked the idea of getting kuminga. Barnes was interesting but he was lower than the other two. I figured we had a team that was good enough to allow their rookie to develop over time. I did not want Suggs because it seemed like a win now move he was known to have a high floor low ceiling. I wanted the highest ceiling option.

Raps always like doing things that other teams are not. In previous drafts raps have gone off the board and its worked for them so even though I thought it would be suggs cuz a raps media guy legit tweeted before the draft that it looked like they were taking suggs, I had a feeling in my gut that masai was going to do his own thing to prove the other front offices wrong and so far hes done just that.
