OK just because it looks cool don't mean it works if he has a v bottom boat which is made for open water and waves he should have gotten a outboard motor
I got a 90lb semi V jon boat just like yours, what was the top speed you got? My boat will probably be loaded with 2 people and gear. I am sure it'll work for me just want to make sure I can go up river in current with no hassle. pond and lakes I dont really care about cause it doesnt take much to push a boat in hardly any current.

Because it works. I'm 17 and bought the boat when I was 13, it's was cheap enough for me to buy and the motor is inexpensive too. It's not a complete V either, just the bow comes to a point. The bottom is flat

Looks like you got a Lone Star jon boat, those are perfect for those motors, its a semi-V hull

With full gear and two people we ran about 14 mph up River most of the way and it took on some Rapids
Right on, down stream probably almost 20 mph correct?
