    the down side with this is the telemetry warnings, you still get signal low warnings even if the back up receiver has a perfect signal because the telemetry is coming from the master receiver, there really needs to be a way to get 2 simultaneous telemetry streams so the pilot knows they have a good signal and proper control.

    Good tip on changing the RX number to test redundancy is working, but the real wrinkle Frsky need to address is how you optimise RX antenna positioning on the secondary RX without RSSI available. I understand why getting telemetry from both at the same time isn’t possible, but what they should work on is a way of being able to select which RX delivers the telemetry from the TX at any given moment. That would be killer functionality, but Frsky being the experts at ignoring user requests and shooting themselves in the foot these days I doubt they will ever deliver anything like that.

    I assume you could use a second battery for the second RX just incase the main one failed (i'm thinking large models)

    I’ve done something like this with an RXSR and an R9 receiver. That gives you redundancy, but redundancy at different frequency bands . This may be better than duplex redundancy at just 2.4 GHz.

    If I understand, you need at least one RX8R as the “main parent” because it has an SBUS-IN port.
    SO: Can you Y-IN more than one X8R (or other receiver with SBUS-OUT) into the RX8R SBUS-IN, in order to have multiple satellite receivers?

    When doing this, can I use the RX8R PRO in high speed servo frame rate mode? By that I mean 9ms as opposed to 18ms. Will it conflict with the X8R only being capable of normal, 18ms servo frame rate? Would there be adrawback to doing this by connecting signal pins for channels 5 & 6 during bind on the RX8R PRO?

    Great video as always. Can this redundancy also work when using 2 Frsky X8R receivers with 16 channels active? I am using this setup for the Avios Spitfire with fpv and head tracking. 6 channels for the taer+gear+flaps // 3 channels for the gimbal movements // 1 channel for navigation light. If redundancy option is possible, how to connect the 2 reveivers with each other? I can't get it to work at the moment. The 16 channels are working fine, but the one receiver doesn't take over from the other one when receiver number is changed.

    I think that if Need Sbus to flight controller. And I also need PWM channels like landing gear , or some other things with PWM channels and Fc is using SBUS then other uses Sbus and other can use normal PWM 8channels... So am I right? because I understand It that way when asked Frsky. But my english skills are not perfect because im from finnland there might be misunderstood

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 2 lety

      A lot of the receivers that have PWM and SBUS outputs will output both at the same time so you can use the unused PWM outputs on the Rx for other servos on the aeroplane. You can also use channel forwarding on the flight controller to present channels on the spare PEM pins for things too. You can see me do this in this video: czcams.com/video/DTrFuCvA7oU/video.html

    Can i use Sbus for controlling my autopilot and any another channel to control my additional payload at the same time ? Or Sbus anyway combine all channels in one ?
    If its possible can i use one receiver ?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 2 lety +1

      SBUS is a single wire digital signal that carries all of the received channels to the flight controller. You can forward channels onto spare pins on the flight controller to allow for control of PWM devices. Or you can use something like the setup shown in the video to add more PWM outputs..

If I will pair two receivers I will have an additional channels on second receiver not covered by sbus. So I can connect to my Arduino second receiver channels and first receiver to autopilot by sbus ?
