    I've never even realized this has a name, but this is the method I used to get rid of my eating disorder years ago - just teaching my body to tell me instead of the other way around. So happy you shared this 🙏 and I can say, I've been eating this way for the past 10 years - my weight has stayed the same all that time. I don't lose weight before summer, I don't gain weight during holidays, I'm just me, not skinny and not overweight, just a happy body that stays the way it wants to stay 🙏

    The biggest things that help me eat intuitively is getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water and not judging myself based on society's idea of what a women should look like. I know what foods trigger my moods, energy levels and overall comfort. Thanks for the transparency💕

    Yes, I'm tempted to do 2 months hard core keto, to kick off at a lower weight. But this week of eating whatever I feel like, when I'm genuinely hungry, has been so freeing. It's amazing that sometimes I really do just want a keto-friendly garden salad with chicken.

Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need. Luke 12:29-31

    i've been starting mindful eating for the past weeks and i must say it does a lot to my mentality and to me physically. watching your videos on this topic made me reflect on how i deal with things before. and i binge eat and stress eat prior mindful eating, and over the past weeks, I realized, I never resorted to any of that except for that one night when i was so stressed about work and i tried ordering out just to appease my mood, and while eating i definitely didn't feel good and food i usually can eat in minutes, i can't even finish at that time. i eat everything now, and actually am not very thrilled at the fact that there is pizza or chips or chocolate around--just when i crave for them, which is not very often now. so yeah that is what the few weeks have been for me. thank you for speaking your truth and sharing it with us!

    I have done so many diets since my teens and never became obese until my mid 20s and then I became more physically active and lost the weight. I became a Christian at age 29 and quit smoking and I gained 43 lbs and then I had a full hysterectomy 8 years ago and gained another 50 lbs and now I am 125 lbs overweight. I tried keto and did lose 14 lbs in 3 weeks but then I couldn't keep up with this diet and have gained what I lost plus more. So I am at my highest weight of 280 lbs and almost 55 years old. I keep praying for help with losing weight but really addicted to sugar and sweets. I have a very physically active job where I walk 14 kms a day and push patients in their beds so it's not just walking but very physical. I tend to go to comfort foods. I went into councelling because of past abuse and trauma. Most of my weight is on my upper stomach, butt and hips. I hate how I look and how my waist bands on my pants keep rolling down and nothing fits me comfortably. My doctor is concerned about my weight and where its located on my body because it's hard fat and not giggly fat. My thyroid is good. I gave crohns, prediabetic, depression, anxiety and use a cpap mask. I feel sluggish most of the time and grab the wrong foods. I will look into getting this book. Thank you for sharing your story.

  • @general_electrics
    @general_electrics Před 4 lety +2

    Here's the problem. How you feel eating something does not necessarily relate to your physical health. You might feel great eating a certain food, but what is that food doing to your body?

    • @ashlyncartervlog
      @ashlyncartervlog  Před 4 lety +5

      George EX obviously. Not sure you watched the entire video but learning about how foods affect your body is the largest component to intuitive eating and feeling your best. It’s a life long process and certainly one much better than the latest fad diet. It’s not eating intuitively which is eating whatever you please. Not sure why you’re so aggressive to someone who is encouraging freedom and wholeness.

    • @general_electrics
      @general_electrics Před 4 lety

      @@ashlyncartervlog Aggressive? How?
      Anyway, intuitive eating is probably going to harm more people than it helps. It's what got Americans into the obesity, diabetes, etc. epidemics. It's not going to get them out. It's not a true source of help for the real health problems they may face when they make the wrong choices in this toxic, addictive junk food environment.

    • @valkyrie1010
      @valkyrie1010 Před 4 lety

      George EX I’m not sure that’s true. I know what you’re saying about people’s health these days being even more compromised than a few decades ago but have they truly been listening to their bodies or have they been eating to deal with pain or other emotions? Feeling guilty for bingeing? Restricting a particular food because it’s not low fat etc. The foods we have today are linked to many health issues, vegetable oil is a big one...but I think even amongst this shitstorm we can still know what we need even though I don’t think the food pyramid is gold.

    • @andreajackson2956
      @andreajackson2956 Před 4 lety +1

      George EX yo-yo dieting has made Americans obese, but if you’re happy dieting then do it. For someone recovery from an eating disorder, learning to eat intuitively is freeing and healing. Contrary to what people believe, you are not going to eat cheeseburgers, milkshakes and Oreos all day everyday. You won’t feel good, unless you’re not listening to your body. At the end of the day, do what’s best for you. But diets have mentally and physically destroyed 28 years of my life.

    • @general_electrics
      @general_electrics Před 4 lety

      @@andreajackson2956 You all might be right about a lot of this.
      I guess it's all in how you interpret "intuitive eating."
      There are definitely some useful forms of intuitive eating--especially for those recovering from eating disorders.
      That said, it's important not to overlook what kinds of foods one eats "intuitively." For example, intuitively eating a lot of processed high energy foods is probably more detrimental than eating whole foods.
