    Thank you. I am just starting to shoot .22 precision matches. I like it so much that I may end up shooting larger caliber competitions. Your videos help people like me and others.

    BLOWS my mind how much money people are willing to spend on some canvas bags.
    Glad my Mom taught me how to sew.
    Not only do you have stories to tell people about how you started and your gear, but there is a sense of accomplishment that is unmatched with building your own gear.
    I am transferring over from a country boy hunter (70+ whitetail kills) to recently getting into long range/precision shooting.
    Thanks for sharing the video and your thoughts.
    Take care everyone.

    Joel you do a very good job and your style is equally good. Please put links when you are suggesting gear like this. It would really help. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

      Thanks. I have to be careful with links unfortunately. Many times CZcams will demonetize videos if they contain links to products sold by "gun companies."

    Another good video. I will stay with the plastic ammo box's myself, used them for years and the price of the pouch is repulsive to me but to each their own!

      hi, this vid is about 3 years old. some of my gear choices have changed. My rifle back then is different than my current setup as well. Most guys are shooting some kind of 6mm wildcat cartridge out of a custom built rifle. There are many great components - a good place to start would be to look at Core Shooting Solutions website and see all the options available.

    My man. Answering a question I asked you a little while back. I want to shoot a prs match but no idea what I needed. Competition stuff is a murky subject for any form of competition. What are the typical ranges of engagement? Do you get to police your spent brass after the stage?

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  Před 4 lety +2

      Most targets are from 200y to 700y. A smaller percentage are beyond that out to 1200y typically. You usually have enough time to grab your brass after your run. Not so much during the PRS 2 day matches. They keep you moving. Expect to lose 30% of your brass during one of those matches.

      @@PrecisionRifleNetwork 700. That's a legit range. I keep gathering information to see if next summer is a prs match or some idpa or uspsa.

    Hey I know this video is a yeah old and all but I’m really having a hard time finding PRS match’s on the PractiScore sight. If there’s anyone out there reading this that would t mind helping me out I would really appreciate it. I’ve been practicing positional shooting out to 600 yards (farthest my land allows me to shoot) and I’m really ready to get out there and really compete and meet people.

      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  Před 2 lety

      Best thing to do is search for “precision rifle” and/or “long range shooting” groups on Facebook. Once there, ask about ranges and matches close to your location. Best to start with a one day club match before trying the 2 day PRS style.

    why does the ammo have to be in a special holder? does keeping rounds in a ziplock hurt them?

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  Před 4 lety +3

      Nope. Don't need to be in anything. I said in the video "a way to carry your ammo." I just choose the ammo novel personally.

      The first match I went to I pulled out a doubled up freezer bag with my ammo in it and it was hilarious!!! Guys were saying my rounds would deform the pills. It was a quagmire of opinions between some of the shooters. An old man with plenty of experience pulled me off to the side and let me in on a secret, “son those bags aren’t going to hurt your ammo and keeping them in those bags aren’t going to cause them to hurt themselves either”. Needless to say I haven’t seen a problem with any of my ammo in freezer bags in my 2 years lol!
