    Arguably, Gnosticism started in the Garden when Satan suggested that eating from the Tree of Knowledge would make Adam and Eve like gods.
    Masonry is through and through Gnostic with its secret knowledge of the craft and its skewed, naturalistic version of Christianity that it accepts.

    I’ve been studying religions to try to find where I fit in, it hasn’t been easy. I would have to put up my hand and say this isn’t a full explanation of Gnosticism. There are different beliefs - like Protestant and catholic have different beliefs about the same thing. There are sects in Gnosticism that believe that Jesus was here in the flesh with us. Unfortunately a lot of these tellings are left out in a lot of Christian teachings. Which is why I’m having a hard time finding where I fit. There are truths in all of the teachings, it’s quite frustrating. So I keep searching, I’ve come to realize in my search that sometimes finding our loving god is a personal experience. At this point in my search there doesn’t seem to be one true religion. One thing is constant though, free will. We have the free will to find our own way to the Holy Spirit, whether that be catholic, Protestant, or any other Christian teachings that come after Christ. The god of the Old Testament wanted us to submit our will to him. There is a reason why we stopped following the Old Testament. What changed gods mind about us between the old and New Testament? Did he change his mind? For those who are curious, I would suggest reading Deuteronomy and asking why. Don’t stop until you find an answer, then ask why again. Then if you still have questions, read something that didn’t make it into the Bible. Like the book of Mary, the book of Enoch, or any other popular ones and keep asking why.

      Agree. This video is extremely biased and filled with misinformation sadly. Even Yeshua distanced himself from the Old Testament god and if you read the Sumerian texts, you quickly realize that Yahweh was a mix of Enlil, Enki, Amun Ra and other deities and the Old Testament was based on those texts. Unfortunately a lot of Yeshua’s true teachings were excluded from the canonized Bible for control. Yeshua was trying to show us the path to ascension similar to Buddha and enlightenment. There are records that Yeshua was in India as well and had learned from the yogis and have very similar teachings to a lot of eastern philosophy

      Salute to you 🫡 I concur with what you said. It is very difficult to say there is the only one true religion and god. I mean it's easier to have a focus but the free will is definitely stifling. Traditions are good to have but if it is free will that which we seek, then our soul/spirit should live truly and grow within your own personal space. If that's not love to oneself to give to others, then what is?

I did not know how to respond, He carries the book with him in our work truck and reads this thing. @@deluge848 Unfortunately almost all 10 points in this video are NOT at all what the Gnostic codexes purport. Jesus is the savior, saved by faith, God is masculine, the crucifixtion and resurrection was in the flesh. These are points regurgitated from the opponents of Gnosticism and not what the actual text says. Are there some heretical texts, very likely, but we do not know why all codexes were lumped together, this this likely an early collection of whatever early Christians could collect, and not likely one monolithic faith and compendium like the canon. The Nag Hammadi requires some serious discernment, and without it, can very dangerously lead people astray, but as mentioned most of these 10 points are falsely attributed, and demonstratably and undeniably so.

The Holy Virgin, Queen of the Prophets, Queen of Heaven and Earth, urges ALL Catholics to pray the ROSARY DAILY, particularly for the repentance and conversion of souls and in atonement and reparation for sins. Mary does this in every APPROVED apparition. Relying solely on your own works/talents would be prideful and ultimately, futile.

I am Roman Catholic-Orthodox but either way Roman Catholic mass (I’d try mass in English and then check out Latin mass..it is the way mass was performed for around 2000 years) I speak Italian and Latin so I understand and speak but I did not my whole life, mass from my first memory was maybe 1/3 in Latin and the rest in English, I remember being so little like 3 and when they chanted Latin and spoke it I felt overcome with solitude..I could sense this shift. I of course never told my mom or dad as it. As so natural. Many who listen to Gregorian Chant feel the Lords glory, love and such peace that is unlike anything..people who are Muslims and from all other belief systems are drawn to Latin Catholic chant. Many many who go to Latin mass for the first time are transformed. Either way listen to the Lord as you are being led, let the Lord guide you and take your time..talk to God, pray and have quiet time with God during this, and always but take the time to be with God and connect..you will be reassured, led, strengthened and of course loved so very loved. Never did i suffer at all, and I was not distressed. These people did not harm me. Rather, all this was inflicted upon a figure of the rulers, and it was fitting that this figure should be destroyed by them.' The First Revelation of James. Gnostics do not say he didn't have a body, but they do say he had the power to overcome the pain inflicted on him. I quickly ran to my book to write this quote while you were speaking live on this. In Gnosticism there are many codexes that state that you are still saved by Faith and not by knowledge, but states knowledge brings you even closer to God because it reveals the full extent of his goodness. The Nag Hammadi Library is a compendium of books, and we do not know if they were bound correctly together as they were lost in a very early time of Christianity. For Example regarding saved by Faith, not by knowledge; in The Wisdom of Jesus Christ (Nag Hammadi Library) Jesus says: "Whoever knows the father in pure knowledge will depart to the Father and be at rest in the unconceived Father. Whoever knows him in a defective way will depart to what is defective and experience the REST that the eighth realm provides." (8th Realm is Heaven). What this is saying is faith, even if not fully knowing him will still be saved. And It also does not say that the person who knows God in an complete way is still not a sinner, which he or she obviously is, but that he will be closer to God in a reunification. Yet he is the Father, and Jesus is still the Savior. Therefore there is no logical contradiction in "The Wisdom of Jesus" Codex to the Canon. There are other codexes which are similar. In my other comments, I have already said why you have misrepresented the Nag Hammadi Library in many ways. Such as they do believe faith in Jesus as the only Savior, they DO believe in the physical Crucifixion and the physical ressurection. The Father is repeatedly talked about in the masculine and not feminine. Therefore due to these understandable, but gross errors, I agree with most of your videos, except this one on Gnosticism is not true. Understandable in the sense that they are lumped with codexes that are heretical. That said, I will say The Gnostic Gospels are still very dangerous texts and not for everyone because they do require SERIOUS discernment. As not every Gospel in the Nag Hammadi, may be of God as there are many that are heretical, and those that are of Gods work can easily be misinterpreted to lead some to a false pretense that God is not good. As it deals with more complex spirtual matters. Therefore likely sending us to death if misunderstood. Therefore it is an extremely difficult text and not even necessary to salvation and requires a lot of discernment. Which is likely why many of these books were disregarded from the early Formation of the Canon. Repeat, these are DANGEROUS books and can send you to hell, but not codexes contradict the Canon, if understood fully in the heart of seeking God. My thoughts are these codexes are a consortium of different codexes, we really do not know if they were falsely lumped together, but the Nag Hammadi Library is NOT one monolithic belief system! There is no such thing as a Gnostic Faith /Religion or knowledge and what many of the common misconceptions you state, come from the more heretical texts which are bound to it, and the fact that we havent had thousands of years for Saintly and Church men to theologise fully where it contradicts Catholicism and where it does not. Plus given the state of the world I would strongly argue there is not enough time to understand. Which puts you at risk for not fully understanding. Therefore in summary please continue what you are doing with your good work and leading people to the Catholic Church as Nag Hammadi as far as I see it is not necessary for salvation, nor promises it according to many of the codexes, but please be more discerning on a very wide topic which due all due respect, you have portrayed vast innacuracies. Even I won't claim to know or be able to define Gnosticism. But I do know that I find Jesus' words are always comforing and peaceful. When understood fully do not give confusion. Please take this as a criticism of only this one video and not the plethora of all the other inspiring Gods work that you do.

    Dr. Taylor Marshall, I come to your work for lots of reasons and admire your accuracy in almost all things you say. However on this video on the Gnostics, it does not say God is feminine or that his children, us, become Gods either. "...The CHILDREN of the unconceived FATHER, God, SAVIOR, Son of God, whose likeness is among you." This says we the children have the potential for divinity when we are REUNIFIED with him. Only the opponents of Gnosticism, make those claims. The texts lead that he is still the Father, the first and last, the all, Jesus is still the Savior, but we are to rejoin him from our fallen state. I hope this message is received in good light and fruitful discourse.

      The occult highjacked the gnostic understanding- thats how secret societies work. They act like they hold secret ancient information, but theyre really a group of deceived deveivers. We have to be Catholics reading the gnostic gospels and understand it’s not actually an alternative as the occultttt wants and has us to believe. It’s the same group that has TRIED to touch and manipulate the words of our Holy Bible (they haven’t succeeded yet!!)

      I would hazard a guess and say none as Gnosticism vastly predates all of these. If anything at all, like Helena Blavatski, they seem to be corruptions of this and use it to service themselves and their own curiosity. With the more openly satanic to serve their lusts and desires. Gnosticism is about cultivating a closeness to God, not even about salvation as many ascribe to it. I recommend Catholocism to anyone seeking salvation. I don't even recommend Gnosticism anymore as it does have very real dangers. But truth where truth lies, it has NOTHING to do with the above mentioned.

    This is almost prophetic that you went over this yesterday as I had never learned about this topic explicitly, yet found myself researching the term last week after listening to a podcast about this yoga "cult" my mother was initiated into during her 20s that explains the belief as it relates to gnosticism. My motive for such research was to better understand her selfless and loving heart ❤/ prepare myself after she asked me to take her to a neighboring State to one of their 4 day meditation retreats/spend the night, but they discluded her for lack of timely RSVP (how lucky was that?!) My dad passed away years ago, but I credit him with saving me from my mom's beliefs as he raised me as a Roman Catholic and would angrily and passionately defend me from the "cult's" teachings. Wow just wow. My guardian angel or some others in the spiritual realm might be really hard at work right now through such divine interventions 😅.

I have found it fascinating to read but I am always open to different opinions. Reading these Gospels hasn't taken anything away from my faith, but it gives me a different insight on how they believed and the struggles of people and all the different beliefs at the time of Christ. I understand the wars and blood shed so much better and why they had to get rid of Jesus. The times were political as they are now. I also have a deeper understanding of the sacrifice Jesus made in a very dangerous time.

    17:28 Fr. Jean Colson in 1968, with Imprimatur, published a book in which one of the arguments for his conclusion was an old Gallican martyrology, in which 28 of December is two martyrs, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. His overall conclusion was that "the beloved disciple" was:
    * a disciple
    * present at the cross
    * _not_ one of the twelve (specifically _not_ St. John the son of Zebedee)
    * a Cohen
    * host, not guest, at the last Supper (same house in Jerusalem which also enabled him to receive the Mother of God as His own new foster mother)
    * author of the Gospel and the Johannine corpus.
    Another part of the argument was that St. Irenaeus had left Asia Minor as a teen, which is why some misunderstandings of his youth were not sorted out - on the other hand, Colson builds much of his argument on voices of those remaining in Asia minor (Papias calls the Gospeller a "presbyter" and not an "episcopos" while the son of Zebedee was one of the first "episcopoi" - a protest against Rome about Paschal Date invokes "John, who bore the golden head band" rather than "John who was one of the twelve") ...
    So, according to Fr. Colson, _all_ of the twelve (minus Judas, plus most probably Matthias) died as martyrs.

    I appreciate the explanation of gnosticism. However, I must say that there is a misunderstanding here in regards to Luther's teachings. Orthodox Lutheranism looks nothing like the description Dr. Taylor Marshall described. Modern Protestantism (even modern Lutheranism) does look very much like it, but orthodox Lutheranism does not. The Book of Concord makes very clear the supremacy of the Eucharist, and Luther taught several times that salvation is given freely regardless of our "input," for lack of a better term, which would include knowledge. Luther put a major emphasis on the Sacraments for this reason. Also, on a practical level, historic Lutheran churches looked very similar to ancient Catholic Churches. Just wanted to share that. Thank you for your video.

    As Dr. Taylor alluded to in the beginning of this video, Gnosticism is not a uniform belief system, but rather there are certain attributions that can be ascribed to Christian Gnosticism. Not all of these attributes are common to every school of Gnostic thought. The things which Dr. Taylor describes as Gnostic points which you will find among Gnostic writings are not entirely incorrect, though the spin which Dr. Taylor puts on them can be the subject of vigorous debate. It is also debatable that Gnostics considered themselves as something separate from mainstream Christianity. Some writers believe that with early Christians Gnostics, individual experience was something you could undertake once you had the foundations of basic Christian dogma and practice. One thing that I believe is misleading in this video is the implication that Gnostics believed in salvation through what you "know" in the academic, or intellectual, sense (5:25). This was the belief prior to the discovery of the Nag Hammadi codex, but has long been disregarded. The "knowledge" that the Gnostic seeks is the direct experience of union with Divine Power, to "know" God directly, transcendentally, not through education. In other words, most Christian religions offer the promise of a state of divine union in the afterlife as a reward for faith and good works; the Gnostic aspires to experience divine union in this life. This idea of individual transcendent experience is consistent with other points Dr. Taylor makes in this video. As an aside, for St. Paul's take on Gnosticism, see 1 Timothy 6:20, 21, though I suspect these verses are 4th Century+/- add-ons, as you sometimes find with ancient writings that were later translated by monks.
