    No, Theodore is acknowledged worldwide as the inventor of the scratch. Cats like Flash took it to the next level, but Grandwizard Theodore is the originator of the scratch.

    Grand Wizard Theodore... I was a preteen watching him spin at the Minisink Center near 170th st in the BX in the shadow of the #4 train.
    As everyone break danced and boogied, I stood there in the bboy stance and watched everything HE did (Obviously NO youtube then) I smile 35 plus later at what he has contributed to the DJ culture. Salute!!

      I was there!
      When I first heard Theodore it was in the Bronx at Duck City MC Smiley first female MC was Rockin the mic while Theodore was rocking the ones and twos. If you wasn't there you would never understand that was Hip Hop at its best!

    Yes I remember my boy Grand Wizard Theodore back in the dayz we jammed together in Manhattan at Randy's place 125th St. And Harlem world I'm the Original Cipher Sounds.
    I still have some of my old school flyers, from back in the dayz rocking with Theodore & grandmaster flash and others I started out working with Russell Simmons back in 1977.

    Some of the ignorant comments made below remind me of what people said when they first encountered Egyptian hieroglyphics...they simply could not understand it till someone a lot smarter deciphered them. GRAND WIZARD THEODORE has changed the entire world of music as we know it. He is a living legend and should held in the same high esteem as Miles Davis, Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, Ect. And most hip-hop for decades early on was well rooted in the prior generations of jazz, funk, and r&b so ain't no shame in learning about music especially if came out before you were alive.

      +Pri yon Joni No he uses a hard drive connected to the pioneer nexus 2000 cdj and has it in slave mode. Almost the same damn thing because he has a screen on the cdj and the cdj has software on top of every track he plays goes between 126 and 128 bpm's. David Guetta is a producer not a dj and would totally train wreck a set if asked to play on vinyl. And he absolutely would not be able to play a set like this.

    Dude's taste in records is super dope, he is an older cat so I'd imagine he'd be a bigger fan of the older 80s stuff, but I've seen him a lot of the time cut up the harder 90s era stuff, and some indie underground joints from the later part of that decade. Love that shit.

    When Theodore was tearing shit up back in the days, he was using technic turntables that were the bottom of the barrel belt driven technic turntables. No Dj could do the same thing on those belt drive technic turntables that they can do on a 1200.

    Well this almost what I'm on yt for,back in 1985 I was in job corp in up state new york and that's where I met a lot of peoples from the 5 boroughs, anyways one dude from the BRONX used to get these mixed break beat tapes, and I haven't heard them since,had track s like TRAMMP,JAMES BROWN,VAUGHN MASON,tapes where real gritty but HOT,and I really miss that sound,peace
