if you feeling that - you gotta check this cat out doing the "Darth Vader" sh!t.... One of the most epic genius sh!t i have ever seen and manifested on the decks. It's bananas son - check the whole set - but DAMMMNN!!! he brought that Obi Wan light saber blade sh!t at about 1:40 . YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

He i know grandmaster only the few of the younger gen will know anything bout old school shit!! The god father of the turntables
well actually younger generations will , thanks to youtube ))
Great memories back in those hiphop days! Superb music!!
Maximum respect from all the turntablists around the world who know this routine beat for beat and can appreciate how spot fucking on you nailed it !! All I can say is that routine got me to buy my first mixer in 1986 ! Well done 👍🏼
I'm drippin nostalgic, I ain't heard this since HS, DeWitt Clinton 78-82. THIS serious joint is right on point!
CHEEBA CHEEBA y'all!!! ❤

Always remember seeing Grandmaster Flash tearing down Wembley at UK Fresh 86 with the Furious Five and of course being able to witness his turntable fitness doing his Wheels of Steel routine - fantastic and awe inspiring memories of when deejays were real deejays with their decks, mixer and a stack of funky breaks on vinyl and no pre programmed BS or laptops!
I was there also 😄
Well done I really enjoyed that. I had the pleasure of seeing Flash do that live back in 1987.
Lucky 👍🏼😉🍀
Anybdy remember skating 2 this?!!
So lucky
I've never heard of Flash actually pulling this off live
@@curtisroyston4984 He did it on the jools holland show on tv. The whole concept of backspinning vinyl came from grandmaster flash.
My man ... New York's finest ... Grand master flash ... It's been like this since the summer of 1976 ... I remember ... 🎧🎧🎧🎤🎤🎤🎤💿💿💿💿🎼🎼🎼🎶🎶🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🎶🎶🎶
Yo, this is EPIC! Much respect. I've been cutting and mixing since the 90s and I don't think a lot of people "get" the difficulty level here (timing, pitch, etc.) So dope.
I know flash apparently used 3 tables but the one thing I've always wanted to know is how he did the "flash is/good", "flash is/good" part. Those party noises had to have been the crew live in the studio with him just cutting "good" in response to the live MC because there's no way to "juggle" that part that I can think of.
Anyway, this was ill.
JamBurgler I think that came from the first female in rap... that white-girl Blondie's album.. if somebody know if I am correct let you know
it is CD shawn, she did an interview where she did the rap part and it was in homage to GM flash
@def creator KRS-ONE sampled Rapture as well, in the late 90's when I was in HS on Step Into A World.. Huge track at the time
It's actually "Flash Is Cool" and it's from Blondies "Rapture"......"Flash is fast, Flash is cool
.....Francois sez fas, Flashe' no do"
So, there are actually two versions. The original version did not have Melle Mel and the crowd, it ended just like
DJJOHNNYM
did here. It was at least a month or two after the first one came out that the extended version with Melle Mel's rap came out. I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard the extended version!
Bought the vinyl in 1981 and it began a nearly 40 year musical journey for me that’s still continuing. Amazing to see this done live for the first time. Respect 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽
I have heard the original recording of this routine 1000 times or more. I have memorized every cut, break and nuance of this record and can honestly say I thought I was watching an impostor until about 3/4 of the way when some of the scratches sound levels and track clicks and pops of some sections didn't match the original which was a very pleasant surprise. Awesome job man.👍
I also know the original by memory since I was 12 I've been listening to it and in my opinion he's playing the original and pretend that he is scratching I hope I'm wrong
@@josephperezzi4413 nah you can hear some inconsistencies in the scratches, they dont line up the exact same
Respect. Much respect. And if you here that on 2021, you are and old school guy.
a true turntablist in action. proper talent. much respect and love from uk!!!
What a great fantastic tribute to Grandmaster Flash! The first time I heard that record was in a club in Honolulu Hawaii in 1981 and I had to ask the DJ who it was and bought it as soon as I returned to the mainland. It made me want to be a DJ!
EXCELLENT JOB!
❤
Happened upon this video after going down an '80s electrofunk rabbithole. The only thing that gave it away as not being the original was the digital recorder. Without that detail I would have been convinced it was the original mix. Brilliant work!
This one also sounds a lot cleaner compared to the og. Not necessarily digital in the squashed sense we're so familiar with nowadays, but the original is just super thick and dirty. I kinda like this one a little bit better.
ABSOLUTELY EPIC. I loved this mix back in 1982 when I was 13 and still do at almost 53! Well done! Bravo bravo!
Nice work man! Really appreciate being able to see what it really looks like when it's being performed.
this was fire. only one thing - Flash did it ambidextrous-ly; spinning with the mixer in the middle - cutting & scratching.... WITH BOTH hands. it's a dj science thing; everybody wouldnt understand.
Truly amazing! Well done, not many DJ's these days can do it old school like this!
👏👏👏👏👏 Fantastic!👏👏👏 👏👏 I've heard the original countless times over the past 25 years or so. It was pretty much the anthem to my teenage years, so it holds a special place in my heart. It also means I know it inside-out by ear, and this blew my mind. Amazing. 👌 Great to see how it's done with the video too! Thanks!
No lap top required
or "battle discs" don't get me started on lazy ass can't be bothered to dig crates battle discs!

Truly awesome to see this done in one take. Thanks for sharing this!
I have this mix on vinyl and Im so happy to be part of thats decade, thanks. Mr. Máster flash god bless U.
love this so much! I first heard this back in '84 and loved it then.. still love it now. nice to see guys keeping up the classic skills!
Man..you have brought tears in my eyes with some really cool memories. However, the way it is being done in a live session is just unbelievably perfect.Much respect, man you just made my day
Omg that was awesome, inspiring. Gosh I luuuuurve vinyl and PROPER mixing. What an art form!!!
As this record is THEE sole reason I wanted to learn how to DJ back in 1981 , I can say Brother DJ Johnny M... Great show of study, skill and respect of and for the greatest DJ ever, my and our musical father Grandmaster Flash! #salute
Indeed 💯💯
Art.....in the purist form.👊🏾
Nuff respect for the precise reinactment.
Flash would be proud.
Bless 👍🏾🙏🏾
Even caught the phase at the end!
Incredible set.
Top boy for pulling off what every scratch DJ, vinyl manipulator or turntablist have all fantasised about!
Easy as you made that look you had to have grafted to get that set tight.
Thank you rockerfellah for that was mustard!
I did this same routine back in 2000 my senior talent show. CZcams blocked the video. This is how i learned to scratch, juggle (Cue burned the f outta some records lol). Its a shame youtube shunned me. Great job man!
B2De Keep trying to post it.....and I believe you have to use the right words in your disclaimer.
I'd love to see your routine, bruh.
Me to.
bro please post this video if you still have it, i so wanna see another person perform this
bro please post this on a g drive or something. Make a wetrnsfer of it, its literally free and will expire after a week.
proove it lol
Had me smiling and grooving the entire set - skill + passion....thank you!! Exceptional!!!
Amazing, I used to listen to this on the way to school in a taxi in 1981, the taxi driver used to play it all the time and you have done it complete justice, AMAZING skills...👏👏👏!!!!!
I was actually looking for an original recording but I guess you're spot-on with this one. Good work!
Songs used (for those who care):
Monster Jam by Spoonie Green
Rapture by Blondie
Good Times by Chic
Apache by Incredible Bongo Band
Another One Bites the Dust by Queen

My hero.
+ Queen - ”Flash’s Theme” (From the Flash Gordon O.S.T.) and The Hellers - ”Life Story”, both not mixed in manually for some reason
Human error at 3:22 😀. And a few very, very minor ones which truly shows this is a true replication of the original, and not a fake. It takes a lot of talent to reproduce this
I believe the actual track title you seek is "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel"
ON THE MONEY!!! I have the Adventures of Grand Flash on the wheels 12" and YOU did this routine....VERBATIM!!!! GREAT EAR, GREAT JOB, GREAT DJ!!!!!
Absolutely awesome, when I first heard this back then I thought how’s this done but watching you do this is incredible, respect👊🏽👏🏽
Thanks for bringing me back to my very first time I heard it.....loooong time ago. It surprises me how I still remember all the cuts and scratches... thanks.
Flash is one of the greatest DJs to have ever touched a turntable. If anyone was lucky enough to have this 12 inch, Flash gave credits to every sample he used, something unknown during the early 80s.
You took me back man awesome job couldn't take my eyes off of what you were doing excellent bro
Truth to the hip hop culture right there. So well done this. What a tribute. Thanks.
Ive never seen flash do this routine live which makes it more epic that you worked it all out and killed it - BIG RESPECT my man
Much respect for this!!!! One of the hardest sets to pull off and you nailed it. Flash himself would salute you🫡
Good Job you took me back. It was a lot of work back then. Time went by fast at the clubs and people appreciated quality work.
Got nothing but LOVE for this amazing routine. Nailed it 100%.
Fan bloody tastic. Watched it 3 times. Soooooo good. What an homage to a pioneer and the legend that is Grand Master Flash.

Very very well done! So that's how Flash did it! by keeping records underneath one another so he could change them quicker! clever!
That was Amazing.. Thank You

Absolutely stunning! Kudos to you my friend, that was spot on!
No laptop, no button pushing, no Serato. Just the original vinyls with a great mix like this.
This never gets old, amazing job dude !
awesome, nice skills, I remember wearing the cassette out on this track when I was 4
I have to give you much respect for this. I used to (mostly) do this routine back in the day and I can tell you, it is not easy!
They don't do it like that anymore ... So easy to push a button on a laptop to change your record and your queue position. This took way more skills!
yes they do... it's just record companies don't want to license tracks... check THIS out! (C2C destroying all competition at DMC 2005)

But vinyl setup is so expensive
Also sounds better
This is the real master...
Absolutely!! I myself have been djing since the 80's. I come across alot of younger dj's that sound good using Serato or Edjing app but would be a disaster spinning vynal. I always make it very clear that spinning vynal shows your true skills as a dj.
this deserves more views ...... lots more.. awesome job
Mad respect for recreating the classic wheels of steel.
I remember this like it was yesterday.🔥
Well done! Exactly like the record. Good job dj.
At times, i thought it was the original record. Amazing
Wow! This changed my life I remember listening to pirate radio.I remember going what’s this tune? And it blew my mind and made me want to learn scratching ! thank you flash for introducing me to hip-hop culture 👍🏼 I’m an English fan of yours.
Incredible!!! True DJ skills. This was very inspirational. I need to break out my vinyl and work on my skills. I love the crackle of the vinyl.
i really miss the times i use vinyl discs and K7 tapes ... GREAT TIMES.
Flawless! Round of applause my man.
Found my comment from a year ago. Since bought a pair of decks and just the amount of skill gone into this is unreal. Can't wait to learn this as a project.
I don't EVER comment, but GODDAMN!!!... I hope half the people, that are luck enough to see this video, understand what DA F*** you just did!... Keep it up. MAD PROPS BRO!!!
1,000 of hours it took to organize this 6 min song. Well worth it SICK!
like Beethoven's 5th - a masterpiece that will last in perpetuity
The skill it takes to do this in one take is unbelievable. You sir are probably one of the only people that can do this, besides Grandmaster Flash himself
this is how you do a dedication real talk, on point with everything, i would like to see him do Jay's Game
This is completely tremendous. You are the greatest!
Thank you for doing this. This is epic! One of the reasons I became a DJ was this routine.
I was waiting to see if you were going to use the family outdoor excerpt. Sir I bow to you, you are the man!!!! :)
Great job!!! Really enjoyed watching this.
Great job! True skill and talent.
Mad respect - opened another tab at one point and forgot it was a cover!
When i first started djing that was one of my favs. And you NAILED IT.....
You are so accurate flash that’s awesome men ✌️✌️✌️
Yo bro,YOU DID A GREAT WITH ONE OF MY FAVORITE FLASH TRACKS ‼️👍🏾✅✅
Not too shabby..............Who am I kidding, this is DOPE !
The most accurate I have listened till today. Congrats.
This why I always said Grand Master Flash is the best that ever did it!!!
Sorry, I just keep watching this every few months...awesome...
Impressive mix routine! Which goes to show what exceptional job Flash did to begin with.
Wow that was super impressive and cool to see how it was done.
BADASS..!!!
right there.... A pleasure to watch....
What blows my mind is Flash did this routine in the 1900’s. He was a genius to even think of some shit like that.
Respect to the homie duplicating it. You’re nice kid. Word.
Props to you for that comment. Pure genius to even think of the composition. Mozart level thinking. Much respect to GM Flash
check out the way the Grand Master was thinking in the pioneering era of turntablism.... czcams.com/video/yBlmxWE_pT4/video.html
ALL I CAN SAY IS RESPECT!!!!!!! HATS OFF!!!!!! DID IT JUST LIKE THE MASTER HIMSELF.
Not just like; the Grand Master was... am·bi·dex·trous.
One of the most important videos on CZcams.
Bravo, it brought back so many memories.
This just made my day.
Thats dope, never knew that you could place records on top of other records, for quick transitions, Respex, Big Upz, & Mad Love to the DJ...... 👍👊💪🙏😎
Straight Real Old School Skills
You’re a legend for learning all that
Dude you are doing your thing!!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!! This is what I'm taking aobut
This is beyond dope! Thank you for sharing.
mate this is a brilliant endeavour!!! I have the original in my car and can confirm this is a perfect rendition. Ace!
YO!!!!!! you killed that bro. the exact same cutz , time, cadence. and you did it classic style with the fader in the middle the whole time prob how GMF did on the the old Traynor mixer with the wooden trim..
are you watching the same vid im watching. because in the video i see. the mixer is not in the middle?
@@oneflowerninjamagic1912 he is referring to the position of the ch1-ch2 fader he doesn't use it to fade or cut. The DJ uses the ch1-ch2 Volume level slides to scratch cut and fade, way different technique than Traditional in a sense
@@RocknRollZombie13 Ok that may be what's he referring to. But he also suggest that - that's how GMF "probably" did it. My contention is... not likely. I never saw Flash use the channel fader volume to fade - but the fader itself. And Flash cut&scratch with both hands. NOT with the mixer to one side of the tables?! I'm humble enough to accept correction; however.... am I wrong?
@@RocknRollZombie13 Another point: classic style WAS TO place the mixer BETWEEN the two tables(?)
magic yes your correct Traditionally the mixer is always in the center that's the manufacturer's design I have a few Original portable DJ turntable rigs from the 1960s "LATEC" and they are a single manufactured unit with 2 turntables and mixer in the center. And yes you're correct about Grand Master Flash he did use both hands left to right either one cutting and scratching bangin faders that's the skill! But none the less this Dj is good he killed this SET! I would like to know what that unit is that he is using for his samples. What's the brand and model please
I did this same routine plus Jazzy Jeffs "Touch of Jazz" on the other turntables. CZcams blocked it because it was better than anyone else's.
I spin I get how hard this is, and this is really good. Thanks
Thanks for Upload ;) Made my Day!
