Honestly Gohan's SSJ2 fight was the best display of dominance in the history of Dragon Ball. Cell literally couldn't touch Gohan. He was wrecking his shit. Cell only got Gohan once and that's because he tried to save Vegeta. Super Vegetto, Ultimate Gohan, SSJB Vegetto, Beerus etc. even though they are far stronger than Teen Gohan, these guys got hit at least once when they first showed up, but Teen Gohan... He was putting Cell up for adoption, he embarrassed him. He beat Cell up so badly that he contemplated suicide, SUICIDE DAMMIT!!! How many characters have whooped someone so badly that they had to resort to suicide to end their suffering. Gohan may not be my favourite character, but he is definitely the most badass. FACTS. You can try and disagree with me, but it probably won't work out.

Maybe for a possible side plot, Gohan asks Whis to train him in the Hyperbolic time chamber. It would be an easy way for him to reach his father's level in power. Also, he wouldn't be slacking in his studies and still have time for his family.
Gohan doesn't need Whis. Gohan need to train with Goku and Piccolo or even train with Vegeta.
He will get stronger faster with either of them.

Krillin did mention in the DBS Manga that Gohan would possibly be stronger than Goku if he devoted himself to training. At least in Heroes, Xeno Gohan is able to go SSJ3 and SSJ4

I honestly believe that ultra instinct should have been a Gohan tranformation, like an upgraded version of his mystic form. His saiyan heritage combined with the mystic energies of the kais, would explain the white hair. Goku just suddenly gets ultra instinct; and that's why a lot of people have issues with Dragon Ball Super, their isn't a character arc or emotional catalyst that makes these transformation's feel earned.
Perhaps Goku and Vegeta fail in defeating Jiren while Gohan is off fighting a unique enemy, that were often seen in super; who can show his enemies their worst fear to paralyze them. Gohan see's the death of his family and at first shocked, being so smart, realizes it's an illusion. At this time, the enemy starts attacking but his hits do nothing, as the strength of his blows relies on fear. Gohan realizes the diminishing power of his father and Vegeta; then says something like "I can't place all that I love on their shoulders, they won't be around forever". He knocks out the enemy in one blow to the gut and quietly goes to where the others are fighting. Both of them are on the ground barely hanging on, as Jiren walks to them, they talk like this is the end,and then suddenly Jiren looks up. Goku and Vegeta turn to see Gohan, where Vegeta proceeds to proclaim that it's over,and that Gohan can't do anything, since he they couldn't. Goku shuts him up and says something like "Good Luck, Son" . Suddenly the universe seems to start shaking as power emanates from Gohan, everyone is shocked. Vegeta exclaims "how can this be?" and Goku says "I know right, no yell, no hatred, what else can this be but Gohan's true power" . They are engulfed in light and introduced to Gohan's Ultra Instinct form, which reflects his calm and pacifist nature.
That actually sounds pretty badass and would work far more with his training with the Kai's as well. Shame that Toriyama and co side-lined everyone, in favor of Goku all the damn time.

Gohan is like Broly from latest movie. Its hard to judge his upper limit as if he goes berserk, only way to take him down is do it fast before he surpasses you within few minutes. Goku and Vegeta train a lot and get heroic entries, but if everything else is failing and even by dragonball standards there is no logical way to victory, you throw Gohan in cause thats where the miracles happen.
Lord Sesshoumaru Yup pretty much, though Broly definitely has a more faster learning rate and was able to surpass Blue a lot quicker than anyone has, the closest thing Gohan did was grow stronger to adapt with Frieza’s forms, but he wasn’t able to beat him though. I love Gohan, he’s like my favorite character, but I gotta admit, Broly might be better here, though only slightly, cause as crazy strong Broly gets through his rage, Gohan probably gets even stronger through his own rage

Still in the boat that Vegeta should have had "red" Ultra Instinct instead of "Super Saiyan Bluer" . Goku's Blue UI was defensive, Vegeta could have gotten an offensive version and fused to have Mastered UI. That way you keep Vegeta competitive with Goku.
Piccolo killed Raditz, Vegeta killed Nappa, Frieza killed Vegeta, trunks killed Frieza, Vegeta killed android 19, 17 killed 20, Gohan killed Cell, the whole world killed Kid Buu, and Goku finally gets a kill against Frieza, just to resurrect him later.

I always just assumed that Mystic Gohan was Gohan's stored potential during the seven years that he didn't train, and that if Gohan trained throughout those seven years, that he'd be relative to that level of power.

That is basically how I understood it. It was his potential power. Like taking a battery from one week in the future and using it now. Its not going to retain all of its power all the way through till 2 weeks from now. You used it already. (not the best example but I've gotten basically no sleep today so close enough).

I think perhaps toriyama is thinking of something to do with Gohan. Gohan says hes looking for a form thats different fror ssj in the anime and manga implying hes going to continue his training and take a different path from goku and vegeta
Yeah but keep in mind Toriyama wanted Gohan to take the leading role after the Cell Saga but didn't because he recieved backlash from the fan base. Also, I don't think Gohan will achieve a form on his own. Unless you have God Ki you're irrelevant and DBS will probably come up with some ridiculous new form with a different hair color.

It’s actually the genius of the writers to have a positive character that can surpass the protagonist but just doesn’t want that life ... fights when he had to and he wasn’t nerfed out of nowhere it was always foreshadowed that gohan wanted peace and a scholars life and he saw what his family had to go through when his father wasn’t around and felt the need to fulfill the role of a father figure in his family who wanted a normal life.

In the Goku Black Saga, wasn't it implied that Gohan was training with Piccolo when trunks left in the time machine and was crying. He was upset because he thought he failed Gohan, but he saw a glimpse of "training" or "ultimate" Gohan when he was leaving. I imagine he was training for more than 40 minutes, and he had been training since that point.

@@flameagar8995 There are no levels in super, its just plot armor for the entire run of that terribly written series which is why most of the power scaling is in shambles in super where everyone's power goes up and down every episode, one minute Goku's SSJB form is getting just mauled by Berserk form Kale to the point where he's complete fodder to her and can't even phase her with his kamehameha, then next minute he's stronger than a stronger version of Kale wile in his SSJ2 form which is weaker than his base form against Caulifla, so the mere fact you're using super as a reference really shows why you are able to believe absurd things like this for the sake of hype and fandom, if Gohan can get TRILLIONS of times stronger in just an hour of flinging around a sword then he'd be stronger than Beerus in his first year of training with Piccolo back when he was 5, the majority of the consistency in the original show shows this is ridiculously stupid preposterous and impossible, no one ever made nonsensical jumps, Gohan SSJ2 was around equal to Dabura who's Cell level who was able to put up a small fight against buu, who was able to put up a fight against evil buu the power gaps are not that huge no one is vaporizing someone with a breath, Gohan gets more like 94x stronger from the kaioshin powerup, and that is a fuck tonne in of itself as there are very few times where someone makes a jump like this in Z, there is no need for all the trillions and quadrillions numbers to pop up that's just beyond stupid.

I've always been disappointed that gohan stopped training. Though I also agree that if he did he would have surpassed goku and vegeta, and the show needs those two upfront because honestly they're more interesting and dynamic characters.

It’s so disappointing that toriyama has essentially forgot what was Gohans story in Z and took a backseat after the cell saga until his ultimate form in Buu arc. It was nice to see his revival in super but we need more Gohan in the spotlight.
Goku's adventure started in dragon ball at the age of 12 and he was fighting super human level opponents, while Gohan started his at the age of 5 training with Piccolo and his first threat being the saiyans Nappa and Vegeta who were much stronger than all the z fighters. Gohan continued to go up against opponents who were thousands of times more powerful than Goku's opponents at that age. Gohan had way more potential.
First threat was Radditz who Gohan hurt on zero training at all, just raw emotion based natural power

Seeing him defeat Cell as a kid in my mother's room has made him my favourite character ever since then. I always wanted to be like him, and when they introduced that he was focusing on school i was, and still am, hella pissed about it.... Hoping he comes back full force, always love when he gets some showtime and pops off reaching new heights for himself.
Toriyama went crazy or something. He set up Gohan to be the inheritor then just squashed it all away. I legit think I read somewhere it's because of merchandise $$ or something so he saddled Goku back up for the remainder of the series.
It was fan outrage they wanted goku to come back so they brought him back also same reason why super was all about goku because of how many people in the 90s wanted goku back

That's highly debatable at this point. Especially when u got Frieza, Broly, The Androids, Goku Black and The other universe saiyans as candidates.
I really do believe they are going to give Gohan a new transformation next season. Trunks got whooped by Vegetas SSB and gained SSR because of it. Gohan got whooped by Gokus Kaioken times 10/20 whatever it was, and will also get a new transformation. Just my opinion, but great video Geekdom.

Yeah. But in that timeline it was a necasity. And that is what Gohan allways did best. Doing, what needs to be done, when he is needed.... and then he wasn't needed anymore in the original time line.... plus incosistant writing doing the rest of course.
My thoughts on that was the lack of direction Gohan had. He lost both fathers that trained him. Of course he would rage, but we would have to scale back focus and scale length of time to achieve compared to the hyperbolic chamber.
I'd say the timeline matches up pretty nicely with his solo training and constant fleeing from the droids. He couldn't get to a near death state for a full zenkai boost otherwise he would simply be murdered.

I might get flamed for this, but I’ve never really believed that the the half-saiyans have more potential. I think Gohan is an anomaly.
Future Trunks, Trunks, and Goten never showed that same level of potential that Gohan did. Gohan, being the son of the main character, and the almost replacement of said main character, has the hidden power, not any other half-saiyan. But that’s just my interpretation.

Gohan always needed a trainer. Potential is great, but he can't train on his own, he lacks the drive to do so. In addition, Gohan can only get stronger in regards of who trains him. Training under Vegeta in the hyperbolic time chamber could have made him many times stronger during the Cell saga, if Vegeta would agree to begin with. The problem lies in the 7 year gap before the Buu saga. Goku trained in the otherworld, battled different scale opponents, with a body not limited to boundries like the rest of the z fighters ALIVE. Vegeta trained using increased gravity to keep upscaling his training. And Gohan? He kind of got left alone, the other z fighters disbanded, each went his own way, and Gohan did not have someone to train with.
Honestly, if they were gonna continue past Cell, Vegeta becoming Gohan's trainer would have been the best call. Piccolo would have made sure that Gohan got a good training/study balance, but Vegeta would never take any sass from Chi-Chi about "too much training". Plus, the three of them trained up over 7 years would probably result in Vegeta and Gohan knocking on the door of SSJ3 (if they hadn't already tapped into it). I could also see them potentially accessing a "Mastered" SSJ2 form, much like SSJ1 Grade 4. In terms of power, it would probably be a one-and-done with Fat Buu, if not by a soloing then by a group attack.
@@Thuazabi I can't imagine vegeta at that stage being willing to take gohan on as a training buddy though. He was completely dejected to the point of potentially giving up his fighting gloves after the Cell games and even beyond that, he would no doubt have blamed gohan for the fact that Goku died. All adds up to him having a pretty sour view of the kid.
@@mistriousfrog That may happen actually. At the beginning of the Buu saga, we can see kid trunks was trained by Vegeta. So if Gohan asks for some training, as a Saiyan Prince, Vegeta could really train Gohan to a great level.
Its not just training, Gohan isn't fighting astronomically stronger guys as well. The zenkai boosts are ridiculous for Goku and Vegeta as well. But yes, he needs to keep training!

Honestly when it comes to it, and this comment might not be seen but I have to say it.
Gohan when it comes to the story easily has the potential to surpass Goku and Vegeta. Hell, Toriyama has even said previously that he intended to end the original series with Ultimate Gohan beating Buu and saving the universe. Goku was going to pass the torch down to Gohan and pretty much Retire, however because the fans loved Goku so much in Japan, Toriyama had to continue showing Goku in the limelight instead of Gohan like he had originally planned.
If Gohan would stop slacking off, he would still be a badass fighter.
