GREAT interview - thank you. I'm really glad Penguin is republishing some of his best work under their classics imprint... just like Graham Greene!

Knowing the area he comes from, I can feel it in his writing. He is from deep South Georgia close to the great Okefenokee Swamp, a black water swamp full of cottonmouth and gators. Its where the Spanish moss hangs from the cypress like deaths shaggy burlap.

Harry is from my hometown and I actually work with some of his family talked about in his autobiography.
