My daughter was born there in 1996. I still can't believe this hospital is gone. It was nice when I was there.
What city is it in, please?
I'd shit myself going in there alone...
It always bothers me when I see such unbelievable and deliberate destruction. I can't understand why people find joy in this. Just proof that they have a hole in their soul I guess. It is just so sad...also sad that so much stuff was just left inside when it could have been put to good use. Thanks for the video Jacob...enjoyable, as always, in a creepy sad sorta way! lol God Bless!
It would be nice if they could have used this for homeless veterans or homeless people Shelter would be half the battle
"Strip for me daddy" on the wall killed me XD
Enjoyed your video of Caraway Hospital. I live near here and I am shocked at how badly it looks. The blue star was always lit and turning. Was seen all over the city. Thank you.
Looks like the copper scrappers had a field day.
Caraway hospital in Birmingham ,Alabama
You should come to Chicago we have plenty of abandoned places to research and I would love to explore them with you Sir
Stuck like Winnie the Pooh 👌🏻😆🐝
Arianna Paletta lol 😅😅😅😅😅
I was a patient here in 1997, following a car wreck! They were awesome, and the facility was super nice! This sucks that it looks like this now! Such a waste!! Had to be poor management! I believe the helicopter belongs to Children's and sometimes they store they until needed!!
At some point you better get a handy helper . I would be a nervous going alone .
I’m glad you were able to document this place when it was still in somewhat decent shape. It’s now in COMPLETE DESPAIR (2020) vandals have torn it apart & plans to demolishing are in the works.
Surprised you went in alone, that area is a really bad end of town. Lots of illegal activity, gang violence , squatters, etc.
Fun fact: This hospital is where Skillet filmed their music video for “Monster”
How sad. What a waste.
I was very nervous that you did this video solo. That place is full of injuries waiting to happen, glad you're okay!
Yeah, I would have done a lot more exploring if I had a partner
The Carpetbagger
I know you know what you're doing.
the lady that was explaining things to you i love her voice she is really calm she would be the perfect nurse her voice is soothing enough to relax the patient
Great Job Jacob Thank You for sharing!
wow some tour, thanks for sharing
It is really sad to see this shut down since 2008 and wasn't use for anything. Awesome video.
Judith M just look at the Southwest General hospital in Detroit which has been closed since '06
Lifesaver Base is still in use as a maintenance shop and base for Children's Hospital CareFlight...also is used as a refueling location for other outlying Lifesaver Bases.
Wow...
I know someone who used to work there. It's so weird to see the place like this.
9:46 I remember going through there on the way to see the eye doctor.
I've been wanting to explore in there so badly, but I'm afraid of crazy people jumping me.. I'm glad you were safe! Thank you so much for exploring and then sharing this video! Like I said, I've wanted to see in there for awhile now. If you ever go back, please post more! Especially if you go through the basement and/or biomed department!
Did they send you a bill just for walking through it ?
Nice touch with the toilets in.the closing...very original lol
Great adventure! I agree, that was one spooky place. Appreciate everything you do.
That was Epic! Awesome exploration my good man.
Closing down hospitals and abandoning makes me sick to my stomach. This type of situation disgusts me!
how sad to see a modern medical facility closed. Be careful. You should not be alone in a place like that..not safe!
This was amazing! It'd be great if you could go back with a team and safety gear and do a full explore. Thank you for doing this video!
great explore I love exploring hospitals
Great video, although it seems there would've been a lot to salvage from the place. Too bad it just sits there to rot and have fools destroy the place.
Great video CB
From what I gather there's not much of a market for used medical equipment, especially in America, where hospitals try to compete to be on the bleeding edge of medical technology, but its sad to see the waste regardless.
Steve Ittner j
This was a really cool video. Thanks for the great content!
you made my night, just in time to crawl in bed and watch a great video!
I was in shock when you climbed those stairs. Wow! There was barely any stairs to begin with lol. More like holes with sticks. The things you go through to give us videos. We appreciate it but be very careful. 😊
I can't believe you've been there! That was the hangout spot for us in Birmingham Alabama
I still find it odd why hospitals get closed . yes if the dirty etc but don't we need space in hospitals .
Often, the company that owns it built a bigger or better one near by so they dropped the old one. That happened to a hospital near where I live. The old one looks fine to me but the new one is more "state of the art."
RetroMicky82 long answer: if they're really old, the cost to update and renovate them constantly starts to exceed the cost of just building a new one. Unlike other buildings and houses, a hospital really really really cannot have any structural issues or mold or termite or water damage. No buildings should but especially in a hospital, you can't get away w that. And that's just something that happens to old buildings. In really old hospitals, they never built sites for MRIs bc they either weren't invented yet or weren't widespread. MRIs need a costly site. You can't just order an MRI and plug it in. Sites take into consideration water and sewer lines, power lines, and electrical wires due to the heavy magnetic field it creates as well as structural requirements. It'd be a huge and extremely costly process to have to build an MRI site in an old hospital that wasn't built with one in mind.
RetroMicky82 well the Southwest Hospital in Detroit closed because of bankruptcy of the company that owned it and it was supposed to only be temporary but it's been abandoned and rotting like most buildings in Detroit for over a decade
Y4123 thats a shame
RetroMicky82 indeed it is
My neck of the woods Carpetbagger. I've been in there many times when it was operating. Someone mentioned the morgue. I promise it would be a letdown. Have to be careful around there, not a good neighborhood at all
What a cool place! Enjoyed it!
10:04 Lucas was the hooligan! He smashed up the abandoned hospital and tried to frame the guy who ruined his life!!
i really enjoy your videos. I love this stuff. And I like how you keep it simple. You don't over dramatize your experiences in these abandon places.. I enjoy this very much :)
+lemon love thank you, I try to keep it simple
I keep waiting for someone to pop out of one of those rooms. 😬😳😱
Me too :)
super creepy! creepy hospital! keep the vids coming
This was one of the creepiest places I think I've seen you visit. I'm a nurse and an abandoned hospital like that would scare me! lol. Enjoyed watching!! Surprised that you didn't come across anyone at all
Chrissy Hensley not as creepy as the abandoned Southwest hospital here in Detroit (or any of the other abandoned hospitals in Detroit)
Remember this place well. Top notch trauma center in the 90s. Flying home to Birmingham I always knew I was close when I saw that big blue star.
okay the words Strip 4 me daddy on that wall cracked me up. that is an awfully new looking hospital to be abandoned like that. seems like it could have been reused as something.
crazy to see that external beam radiation machine just rotting away. (machine at beginning in radiation oncology) and yes please be careful! you could get radiation poisoning. All my techs and nurses were wearing badges that warned them of levels (when I got my treatments)
by the way: thank you for your videos! I would watch yours while sitting during my chemo treatments :)
I've been in a hospital where there was an upstairs wing completely shutdown. It was only used during flu season. One of the nurses took me there so I could use a shower. It was creepy looking down the dark hallway with all the equipment covered up and no one around.
Cool explore and very curious behind why this hospitals is abandoned and leaving a helicopter, wow that is so strange. As well as millions upon millions of dollars in equipment, facilities, and property going to waist.
Though the best three things I think to carry when exploring in a place like this is a phone, flashlight, and a fully loaded 44 Magnum revolver-Just in case lol.
Love it, thanks !
My jaw dropped when I saw the helicopter! That's a little expensive to trust to a little fencing!
Just before I watched this I got a hospital ad
I can't believe all that expensive medical equipment was just abandoned. And the helicopter? Wow.
I find it amazing the destruction in these places. The broken steps are a good one that took some effort as does all the random holes in ceilings, floors walls everything! It almost seems inhuman the damage.
Not exactly sure how humans do this damage
The helicopter is not abandoned. Medical helicopters still fly from that pad, as well as mechanics service them there. It is sad to see Carraway abandoned, so many lives saved there, one of the first Level 1 Trauma Centers in the Southeast. Be careful exploring there, usually full of homeless and thugs.
The strange thing is the helicopter says "Carraway" on it
I love your videos. Subscribed!
You were brave to go inside there. Bad part of town.
you're up awfully late posting vids
nice job, great vid, pls keep it up
0:30 - "Mr. Carpetbagger I presume?"
Hi Jacob! Have a great day! or Night!
Never mind spooky! Just wade in there!
"Like Winnie the Pooh"... Hehehe! That part of your commentary made me giggle. Thanx, doll! :^]
love the spooky ones!
Awesome. I live in Birmingham alabama. I hate that hospital was shut down. Was one of the first to get lifesaver helicopter
creepy place...great video...
Such an epic waste!!
Great video
"Dr. Livingston, I presume...?"
Get it..explorer's hat, hospital..? :)
Hemsford Mandela
LOL!
"Dr. Livingston I presume coming out of the abandoned hospital gloom! "
I look at this and see potential housing for the Homeless :/
So much unused space just left to rot :/
Marshal Jim Duncan Yes you are absolutely right, that's why I typed the :/ because the $$ sure won't fall like Manna from Heaven.
Such a sad situation for real :(
A Heimdahl I agree but who has the love to put the money . celebrities have millions but would they do that nope
RetroMicky82 Yes, Greed will be the ultimate undoing of Humankind...directly or indirectly :(
A Heimdahl they can put the money into whores and houses to hold 1 family when that money and land could hold a lot of needed homes for needed families
Because giving a massive structure to vagrants to live in always turns out so well. c4.staticflickr.com/3/2467/3839875259_892e674173.jpg
I forgot the name of the machine that you found in the Radiation Oncology unit, but it is a high powered x-ray machine that delivers radiation treatment to cancer areas. The techs put small pinpoint tattoos on the skin, so they can aim the radiation to exact areas.
Thanks for the info! Kinda scary
wow that black mold was so bad I thought the building was burnt also I cant believe that lifeflight helicopter was just left there!! those are so expensive and in desperate need all over the world! oh well..
this video reminded me of The Stand when what's his name was escaping from the government lab after everyone else died.
Well, this didn't make me think of Halloween II at all! lol
Great vlog I will never know what people ger out of destroying the insides of an abandoned building wonder what motavates them to do such a thing. Oh well see you next time.
You don't need a drone, just take that helicopter! Boom! All those drone vloggers will be envious.
be careful with that black mold
RetroMicky82 agreed. It's very dangerous to be breathing in.
You worry me going along , incase you meet some unsavoury characters 😳 great vid btw
Love your star affect, as you enter.........
Finally someone mentioned my star wipe :)
It's a big loss, hospitals closing can't be good, however, if one
Hospital keeps adding on, it can benefit everyone, but sadly, even
The newest wards suffer too, some of the hospitals I've seen on
You tube, that are a banded looked like they may have been very
Nice buildings, luxurious lobbies, but alas, it's not mention to be
And the doors are closed forever, it's really a shame.
There was an abandoned hospital in my town but after about 10 years being abandoned they finally decided to turn it into a local community college and just down the street was an abandoned shoe factory that is know a apartment complex for the homeless.
This is the kind of location you'd expect to see on one of those ghost hunter shows... except the places on those shows are always perfectly clean and not a complete mess like many of the locations you explore
looks like some fairly expensive hospital equipment was left I wonder what was left down in the morgue
That machine around the 0300 mark was probably for radiation therapy. Amazing place!
You should have gone into the basement and found the morgue.
Also, Carpetbagger hasn't solved the mystery of the rotating star >.>
This mission was a failure, and begs for a second coming.
Ha! Not interested in getting trapped in a morgue
Jacob, that is a really big hospital... I wonder why it closed.. I hope your eyes are ok.. Seriously need to wear a mask and maybe gloves too when you enter a place like that... Another great video thank you :-)
Good place for Ghost Hunters xxxx
Just bought a shirt. Great video......
And here we have people trying to get healthcare.
Yes Jacob, the ladies dressing room IS creepy, lol
This really tick me off why couldn’t the city save this hospital!!!
THIS IS SO SO SO COOL!!!! Have you ever gotten the police called on you???? I hope not! I wanna see more! This is so addicting!
My Dad worked there in the early 2000s . He was sick and had to retire . it closed shortly after
Ive never seen anything like that before! What does this say about our economy? Thanks for posting it, hope your eyes are OK.
Felt fine after I got in the fresh air
Everything has either been stolen or removed by hospital staff!
I got either a Walking Dead or Silent Hill vibe from this
I'm intrigued on the fact there is a intact helicopter left behind.
Also if I lived there that parking garage would be skate heaven as far as I am concerned.
Makes me wonder when it was vacated.
I live in Birmingham. This Hospital was abandoned due to the declining state of the entire neighborhood in that section of the city. Interesting fact: this is the hospital where Daley Allison, NASCAR driver and son of famed NASCAR driver Bobby Allison died after his helicopter crash in Talladega.
That machine takes pics of the heart my mom is I nurse
It’s a picture machine. It takes pictures of your body. I had to use one once.
If there was a whole film crew and a battalion on armed Marines, you still wouldn't get me to explore a place like that!
That's sad to see that the vandals & thieves damage replicated a bomb being dropped on it!
Next time someone puts up a vid of this place that Helicopter will have been set on fire.
