I was 29 when this song came out.
i am born 1961, Sweet were my heroes. That was the last big hit.
Reading all of these comments, I feel like a youngster! People in their 60’s and 70’s posting about how much they love this song. I’m only 58. And I love this song and the memories it brings back. I feel privileged to have been a child of the 70’s. We had the best songs, the best movies, TV shows and toys. I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Bruised knees, cut up shins with big noggins on them that hurt like a MOTHER ------ !
Wiping out from the merry go round n landing in gravel, gravel in eyes n ears, everywhere...
Lots in your underwear and other parts, and then hiding/or explaining how excellent your airborne time was before hitting the ground...
Yeah, stuff like this made us almost invincible !

Hard to take that most of Sweet are no longer with us. A truely brilliant band
Andy Scott's Sweet is still recording and touring. Look for New York Groove by Andy Scott's Sweet. It is a fantastic cover and it should have been a radio hit.
@LactoseTheIntolerant Yes. Andy Scott is the original guitar player for Sweet.
@LactoseTheIntolerant I never mentioned that New York Groove is an original song by Sweet. I stated Andy Scott's Sweet covered the song.
When I first heard this around the early mid 70s and thought it was ELO......that mistake could happen
@LactoseTheIntolerant New York Groove was written by Russ Ballard for a group called Hello, who made it a UK hit in the mid-Seventies.
Brian is a true rocker. Live fast, die young. Pretty underrated band!

Crystal Hornbeck They played in Buffalo, NY in 70s. It was only 3000 seat venue. They said the coolest thing ( HELLO BUFFALO ). Buffalo had a great music scene in 70s 10 years of concerts 4 every summer. Rolling Stones liked us played here 6 times. Got to see lots of big bands, Aerosmith, Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Reo Speedwagon, The Who, The Clash, Neil Young, Rush, they even got Lynyrd Skynrd & Allman Brothers. Country Singer Alan Jackson. Now the bad news about Buffalo, we get 10-12 feet of snow every winter from Lake Erie. 1 thing cool about Buffalo we have a big IRISH Population. We are a crazy City Bars are open till 4am. Buffalo is 1 unlucky City all the snow & losing 4 Superbowls. Like I said all IRISH People ST. PATRICKS PARADE IS A NIGHTMARE. I guess it is true most IRISH People are Drunks. I will admit us IRISH are Different born with Red Hair & Freckles. Its also bad most IRISH Songs are about Drinking. Hey us IRISH have our IRISH DANCING. Rumor lots of women like IRISH Men. Its a good thing Freckles dissapear from our face but not our bodyies. IRISH Familys are known for having lots of kids. My Family had 8 kids. Did you know any last name with the letter O is IRISH. Freckles in IRELAND are called ( ANGEL KISSES ). I dont why they call it Red Hair when its the Color Orange. You need to carefull of us IRISH when we die we come back as Vampires. REDHEAD IRISH GIRLS ARE EXTRA FIESTY IN THE BEDROOM. IRISH GIRLS ARE GREAT DRINKING BUDDY FOR US GUYS. YOU DONT SCARE ME I WAS RAISED BY AN IRISH MOTHER. EVERYBODY LOVES AN IRISH GIRL REDHEAD OR NOT. Sorry about IRISH Stuff IM A PROUD IRISH AMERICAN

Probably the last great hit of the 'old guard' at a time when punk, new wave and disco were changing the musical landscape. Always feel kind of melancholy when I hear this as when it came out in 78, it felt like the end of an era.
Mid 60's to mid 70's were the best music in my opinion. Really miss that music.
They were great years now very very sadly missed 😥😥😥
I was 14 , very dramatic typical teen girl , first crush , heartbreak , oh yeah and the awesome music.
If I could swap my 1970s adolescence for the 1980s, 1990s or any other decade, I would not. The Sweet, T Rex, Slade, David Bowie, Elton John etc for the the mainstream. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind etc for the hardcore, David Cassidy, The Osmonds etc for the girlies, something for everyone and it was all NEW then. Nowadays it's all just chewed meat.

@@eriklarson9137 They get put down as "a mere Glam Rock band" and sadly, it's cool to put down those bands as people who couldn't write their own hits or play very well, and that it was ALL about image...that era was a soft target for certain alternative "comedians".
A musician's view will be very different as Andy, Steve and Mick were not only talented musicians but also excellent backing vocalists and they were most assuredly a major influence on the heavy metal/big hair bands to come....and again, the alternative comedy sect would have a field day, totally ignoring record sales/radio airplay...it's the same with the once fashionable mullet hairstyle beloved by many an 80s pop star or deejay...stuff the great music, just put down the musicians because of the look!
The great irony with this video is that the band are more sober in appearance and obviously, the song is totally grown up when compared to "Wig Wam Bam". My late sister was finally convinced of the band's talent when listening to "Sweet FA" and the "Desolation Boulevard" LP. It might've been difficult to admit to liking anything by Sweet because she was such a massive fan of Marc Bolan, but like me, she was a musician and admitted the talent on show.
