You are very lucky to have such a caring father to help you. I was diagnosed at 14 yrs old. I struggled a lot with it, had high sugars, felt discouraged. I still get high sugars sometimes. That’s ok though, we’re not perfect. And we do have the tools to make our disease more manageable now. Most importantly, don’t give up on your health. It can either kick your ass, or you can kick it’s ass! Getting diagnosed at a young age is a hard thing to deal with, but I promise you will be a better person for it. Your hardships don’t measure what is wrong in life, but what you can achieve in life. Your dad is awesome, you got nothing to worry about with him in your corner.
I know nobody asked, but I feel like that’s what I would have wanted to hear when I was in the same spot. Best wishes to your family

as a diabetic that's been using a dexcom for more than 5 years, NO! sometimes yes, you get unlucky and it bleeds. That's natural though, it will just be a few drops and once you put on the transmitter it isn't even visible. I'm not gonna lie or sugarcoat it, sometimes when I was much younger I would have these ones that would BLEED. So much that we had to take it off. Found out it was just something we were doing wrong when we injected the dexcom. I have not had a dexcom that has bled that bad for more than 3 years. I truly reccomend dexcom to any person with type 1 diabetes who is struggling with finger pokes.

A medium size brownie has the same carb count as a medium baked potato. Literally, her body doesn't produce insulin. Not like a 2, who still makes their own, but it's not enough. So for her, limiting things won't help. It takes insulin. A good diet and exercise are the standard for anyone's health. But no matter what, she still needs insulin. Diet or otherwise.
