Coming from a sb3 to this and OMG- I feel like my brain is gonna explode. I’ve gotta take One section at a time. It’s like driving a completely different car. Grateful for this video-
We're here to help
I did the same bro! I bought the pionner SB3 at the begging... That´s like a plane!
@@digitaldjtipsI Iove it!! Saving up to get this controller was one of the best decisions and I’m really having a great time creating and playing music. It also helped with moving to a cdj.
Exactly! I’m coming from a SR-2, so it’s a lot! 😂
Absolutely right. I rented a rev 1 for 3 months got used to it and just bought this literally yesterday and I feel overwhelmed. 😢
I just opened my FLX10 and it was a major upgrade but man so many features! I’m only 20 mins in and this video is gold!
Glad to help!
I have now watched 5 videos of you and I'm enjoying your calm way of presenting, very explanatory and knowledgeable
Thanks and welcome
The man, the myth, the legend! This controller is incredible. Thanks for the great tutorial Phil!
Happy to help!
Just when I thought it was impossible to love you more, you come out with EXACTLY what I needed!!
I have bought 2 courses from you guys and have gotten soooooo much value.
Thanks again for everything you do!!❤❤
Wow, thank you!
Gosh Phil - wow i am blown away and so much thanks to you and the team ! Can’t wait to follow this after my gig tomorrow ❤
Enjoy your gig first and foremost!
DDJT once again supplying the goods that matter! 'Above and beyond' are not words in their vocabulary, they just do it! What a great manual Phil, thank you!
you're welcome Dave!
Fantastic overview, THANK YOU! I just upgraded to a FLX-10 coming from a Prime Go and this gave me everything I needed to understand the new gear and jump in!
Glad it helped!
I recently upgraded from a DDJ RR I've had for almost a decade to a FLX 10 and I've learned quiet some hidden features with your video. Some might already have been possible in the past over rekordbox itself but I never knew/realized some features where there or I didn't know how to use them. Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
you're welcome!
I just upgraded from a FLX4 and this video covered everything I was looking for. Ton of great info and easy to understand. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
How long did you have your FLX 4 for? I’ve had mine 6 months now and feel I’m ready to get something bigger / better!
@@TheAftermath1987 I had my FLX4 for a little over a year before upgrading and still holding onto it for now as a more portable option. FLX10 has been great for getting me ready for club gear as the layout is very similar, I went from FLX10 to using CDJs with no real issues!
Thank you soo much for this!!!Greetings from Romania!!!
You're very welcome!
Just what i needed, former traktor user,
Purchased rekordbox 6 made easy course which is great and now this tutorial to help me along with my Flx10
Glad it helped!
Yessss! You are the man!! Thanks for this amazing video ❤❤❤
My pleasure!!
awesome manuel phil. golden to help beginner djs.
Thanks! Although I'm not sure it's just for beginners, I definitely learned loads researching for this...
This video is AMAZING. I can't thank you enough!
You're very welcome!
Excellent video. This helped me learning how my new FLX10 works a lot. Thanks!!!
Great to hear!
thank you so much - this is an insane guide ... much love
You're so welcome!
I’ve just brought a DDJ FLX10 😀 Waiting for it to be delivered. This is such a helpful Video now I’m already for when it arrives 👌 Brilliant video thank you!
Good luck!
Thanks and greetings from Sweden.
Just that controler im looking for over here to come back at dj after 30years away.
Have a Nice weekend you all 🎉
Have fun!
Same here @svenskavapes8558! Dj'd with vinyl in the 80's 90's but stopped. Never laid my hands on a CDJ. This is my first controller. Feel pretty lucky that I picked such a great unit. I'd be lost without such an in-depth video. Thanks very much, Phil!
Enjoy @svenskavapes8558!
Excellent clear and thorough
Very glad to help
Big thanks, awesome video! Helped me tremendously!💯
Glad it helped!
Phil, thank you so much for this tutorial, its absolute gold, got the FLX10 for Xmas and I'm so excited to what I just learnt with you, this is going to take me to another level, you are a true legend ! Big love #skindeep
you're welcome Chris!
Thanks for this detailed tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
so useful thank you for this and looking forward for future tutorials and training
More to come!
Hi Phil , this tutorial is great even better that Reading the FLX10 10 , Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
This video is golden! Just picked up a flx10 the other day and just knew the basics. Now I'm really learning it!
That's what it's all about! You're lucky to find one, we are hearing lots of people waiting till January for theirs. 👍
Yeah, inventory levels are low here in the Southern California area too. Thanks again for the upload. I’ve learned a lot!
Took me 8 hours to watch this video haha kept stopping and jammin on each feature, thanks for this!
Glad I could help!
I'm barely two minutes in, and I already LOVE your vibe !
I get that this is a fairly recent video, and that the controller doesn't necessarly appeal to everyone, but that view/likes ratio feels so damn wrong ...
Anyways, jumping back in, but without seeing a single bit more, I know this is hard work and a lot of time that you spent, just for us to access knowledge for FREE. Thank you so much !!
Glad you're finding this content useful!
This is another great video! Please, please, PLEASE do one for the Pioneer Rev-7!! Keep up the great work!
On it!
@@digitaldjtips Thank you so much! I can't wait!
Thank you very much this lesson was really helpful.

Very amazing video, i guess it was crazy to edit the all tutorial
Not too bad!
@@digitaldjtips nice workshop
coming from an ddj 1000, it's not the biggest of steps but still this teached me a lot!
No, this is definitely an evolution of the DDJ1000
Thanks a lot 🎉
VERY GOOD
Obrigado Phil!
You're welcome!
Great job. Would love this complete training for Virtual DJ.
Maybe one day!
Really good presentation Phil, but about the filter knobs: I'm pretty sure that the first time they showed up was in 2006 with the DJM-800, and already back then it was 4 effects, Filter, Sweep, Crush and Harmonic. Later, on simple mixers, like the DJM-250, it was scaled down to be only a filter knob. As other brands introduced the knob on their gear, like Reloops 60 & 80 models, and when it showed up on controllers, it was often scaled down to be only a filter knob.
I can always trust you to pick up on the details, Peter! thanks for the info.

Your the best
Glad you enjoyed this
This was fantastic help, Phil! Thanks so much! Two questions I have:
1) Is there a way to set default settings? I'm on Serato and I'd love for it to have the following set each time I put the controller on: 50% tempo range / mixer knobs set to stems instead of EQ / Master Cue set ON
2) My Tempo fader has a habit going all the way up, and I'd like to keep the tempo the same whilst bringing the fader back to the middle. Used to be able to do this easy with Traktor, just pressing shift. Is there an equivalent method on the FLX10?
Thanks!
1. You can Midi map from within Serato and it will use your mapping every time until you tell it otherwise
2. I know what you mean but I don't think so
Excellent tutorial Phil. Thanks.
I wanted to ask, is it possible to save loops as a hot cue in Serato just like you demonstrated in Rekordbox?
Similarly, yes
Love the video! is there a way to remap one of the pad modes to slicer?
Yes, you can remap the pads using Midi mapping
постоянно использую твои фишечки в трейдинге не всегда срабатывает, но по больше части остаюсь в плюсах
really useful thanks for the detailed overview, I just have one question:
is there any dedicated button on DJ flx10 to preview tracks before loading them? I have to click mouse to achieve this right now, I know I can also use keyboard mapping by laptop to easily preview tracks from playlists but just interested, is it possible by DJ flx 10 itself?
Not that we've discovered!
I just picked this one up, yesterday. Im not completely sold on this unit. Stems sound very much Digitized. If that makes sense.... The controller maybe is a bit overkill for my applications. But, also this tutorial is making it very hard for me to decide if I should keep or exchange for the DDJ REV 5 or something similar. Maybe even the Hercules T7. First world problems.....
Use it with Serato as stems sound better on that
🙏🏻 🙌🏼
Enjoy
great video....I learned alot.... But do you have a video that covers the beat sync features ?
We have a whole course on Rekordbox that goes into a lot more detail, djtips.co/courses
@@digitaldjtips Thank you, I am going to buy the reckordbox course but i just looked through the curriculum and don't see "beatsync" mentioned.
I am struggling with beat matching primarily due to one ear hearing loss and i have a FLX 10 and trying use it to help me out.
Super helpful video, I’ve revisited this several times now. I do have a question; I’m using the FLX10 for a gig this weekend, there will be multiple DJs (up to 6) who will all want use their own laptops. 2 questions;
1. Is it just as simple as one laptop being plugged in A and the other into B, then assign channels?
2. Can 2 laptops be used as the same time. I’m thinking about 1 dj transitioning to another i.e. the current dj is playing on A, the next dj plugs into B. Can the second DJ mix out of what’s playing on A?
I’m sure there was easier way to explain that 😅
Yes to both
Hi Phil - not sure if understand what the pads modes are different in Serato . Maybe someone will eventually come out with a Skin overlay for serato only? I wish on another note would be a Skin for the mixer section as it shows smudges etc. but thats not really what this video is about ! Just my mind running off Lol 😂 great stuff so far only about a third of the way through! I know I’ll watch it a least 4 more times ❤
The labelling is more or less correct for Serato's pad modes.
Hello I have an FLX10 and I have a question regarding the build of the board that I wasn’t sure of. My question is, is the effect select knob in the bottom right of the mixer supposed to be harder to turn than the channel select knob in the bottom right of the mixer?
It is on ours
Hi. I use the flx 10 with serato dj. The hot cue indicator does not work in the virtual deck. I see the ring, but it doesn't fill with color. I have also tried several Serato versions. Does anyone have an idea where the error could be? Best regards.
Fantastic tutorial. Any plans to do a special video on the Lighting control function of the FLX10 in the near future?
No plans but who knows!
Same guy isn't it ??
czcams.com/video/Gw2c_2uTTCs/video.htmlsi=TlpIcMoW1rbQp5OJ@@digitaldjtips
@@digitaldjtipsAny pans to change your mind and do a video on the light dmx feature?
Mix point link would be much better if you can use it when the outgoing track has no cue points. Either by setting it such that the incoming cue point will line up with the end of the track or being able to set the outgoing cue point from the incoming deck selection buttons. I am sure you can do this from the laptop screen but the interface for MPL is always a bit confusing.
Great vid. I have had the flx10 since April now but it was helpful learning what Dual deck and keyboard mode do, as well that slip mode works for everything and not just scratching.
Glad you enjoyed this. One tip with MPL is to load the SAME track onto another deck and add a cue point, while it's playing - that cue point will appear on the other deck.
@@digitaldjtips Great tip thanks!
A solid video Phil.
I upgraded from a DDJ-SB3 Serato to the FLX10 Serato and after watching this video I have a few questions.
1) The HPF seems weak?? HPF on the FLX10 sounds like reducing the vol. Not reducing the bass and doesn't give that squelch sound like the SB3
2) Can the In/Out loop be quantized? I am finding live 1 beat manual loops difficult to get perfect.
3) Do you find you need to push the platter firmly and compared to other controllers is it good? The SB3 had a light nice touch/feel. I am getting used to the FLX10 platter but I expected a much nicer feel.
4) Is there a way of enabling pre-saved loops from the controller in Serato. I loved the feature you demonstrated in Rekordbox.
5) I assume that the volume on the colour FX can't be adjusted. Space for instance can sound very loud depending where it's used.
I appreciate all your content. I've been watching for 3 years now.
Many thanks!!
1. Not sure if this can be changed, I think not
2. You can't quantise manual loops, use an auto 1-beat loop instead (pads probably easiest way)
3. You'll get used to the platters!
4. No, don't think so!
5. Not in Serato
1) Yes, the HPF really is implemented in a strange way. Sounds like it mainly reduces the volume. Maybe a Firmware update could fix this?
3) I come from Numark and also found the mechanical platters strange at first, since you have to push it down to control them. But I like that an accidential contact on the platter doesn‘t stop the track. 😊
4) You can use the CALL left and right buttons to select the saved loop slot and use SHIFT + 4 BEAT to enable the loop.
So what's the next step in fixing the HPF??@@m.b.hart95
I assume that CALL refers to Rekorderbox and not Serato? @@m.b.hart95
This is @pioneerdjglobal comment on stems as of today. I've been in talks with the engineering team & they are aware that rekordbox's track separation is no where near the quality that of serato stems. They are working on improving it however we do not have a date when this will be released.
Regards
Yup, standard stuff. Fingers crossed it is soon.
The takeover of serato failed. Rekordbox won't get stems until they can buy someone else out. Atm they may not get this tech at all. I live in AUS and nz are blocking this sale, period.
Just got the FLX 10 today; moving from the FLX6. I thought the FLX6 was the ultimate, until this one came out. Hopefully the next move is going to be CDJ's or the Opus Quad.
You'll have a lot of fun with your FLX10!
Tbh I don't see CDJs or opus Quad as an upgrade
With which button can I map the Serato DJ Pro FX effects on Pioneer FLX10?
Like always, a great video 🤓👍🏼
Is the FLX10 working with Virtual DJ and a MacBook Pro (mid 2012, High Sierra)?
No idea, sorry
Yes it does work very exceptionally well with VDJ
My friend and I were DJing together on two separate laptops (A and B). Is there a way to make the displays link together for visual beat matching this way? We couldn’t figure out if there was a way or not.
No, there isn't
Watched a few of ya vids, n feel in love with the SX3, but only found out in the last few hours it's been recalled, and now I duno wtf to go for 😫 I luv Serato, not a fan of RB, so wanted a 4channel Serato controller, coz the SB2 I use now, has 4decks but only 2 channels, and i use all 4decks, so i cant go to a 2deck 2channel set up, it would frustrate the hell out of me 😂
That was years ago, that said it isn’t made any more. Rane Four is a good choice.
Is there a soft takeover way to reset the Pitch back to normal
Hi - can you recommend any CZcams channels that show how to dj with normal chart songs like take that and Ed Sheeran etc? Everything on CZcams seems to be based on hip hop type music rather than wedding djing etc. Thanks Phil (old).
Our Mixing For Mobile & Wedding DJs course is what you want.
hi Phil - been practicing with the FLX 10 and reverb sounds awesome on built in effects but the Echo seems not as good as Serato's echo - is that me ? or is there a way to make it better on the unit? also there is no echo out can that be Mapped ?
Guess it's all a matter of preference re the echoes. Not sure about the mapping.
@@digitaldjtips hi Phil i put the amount of echo. To the middle instead of 3/4 and it sounds much better Thank You
Hi Phil - i was using those echo outs and hittting it a little too soon so i figured it out 👍 i also love those Pad FX ones they are awesome
can you please tell how can i adjust the sesnsitivity of the jog wheels. I need to increase it. I'm using jog wheels skin protectors. Thanks in advance!!!
You can't
Hello! I just got DDJ-FLX10. I downloaded the updated firmware and my Serato DJ Pro software is not recognizing the hardware. Help.
1:16:54 Is there a setting to activate this? It isn't working on my controller
Hi there. Quick question and I would thrully appreciate your answer. Is the Beat FX function still working fine with Tidal? Taking in consideration that the STEMS are not working anymore with Tidal? I would appreciate an answer for both Rekordbox & Serato. Thanks a lot.
Yes, works fine
@@digitaldjtips thank you for your answer. I suppose it works fine because that’s more like a hardware feature. Is that right? If that’s the case, then why this cannot be done with default STEMS as well? Like this, there wouldn’t be any limitation in using STEMS.
@@zian293Yes, the effect unit is in hardware, so it will work even with line inputs into the mixer.
Sadly stem separators currently out there are too computationally expensive (in order to produce decent results at least. Rekordbox wanted to cheap out on compute power and look at the (lack of) quality of their stems) to be done in hardware, but it is theoretically possible.
@@grizeldiSLO wonderful answer. Thanks a lot 🙏
Hi. Another question from an FLX 10 newbie.😅 For example, when I press the drums away in the FX Stems Select, it sounds to me over the master as if the sound is already changing slightly, even though I haven't activated any effect. Does anyone else have this, or is it my device? Best regards.
Is there any way to control software effects with this controller? I would like to be able to use and control Echo Out when using Serato.
You’d have to map it
Phil when are we getting the complete Training Tutorial for the Rane 4 ?
It is on the list!
Hello, my main controller is a pioneer xdj-r1, I also use a pioneer xdj rx, I wonder if the ddj-flex 10 would be my new main controller.
Sounds like a good idea
Hi Phil - so why would i want to hit -shift and beat sync button to make say deck 1 the master deck? So will that keep deck 1 the master deck ? Thank You Dj Allan
In day to day DJing, you don't need to do this.
@@digitaldjtips in serato dj also ?
Hey Phil, can you pls help. I cant get my FLX10 to do half the stuff your discussing here. for Example (using serato) I cant get screens to show wave forms or another other screen for that matter, I cant get the wave format to change length by pressing shift & scroll button, very frustrating. also is there a way of when you set preset loops EG at beginning or end of tune that these turn on without having to go on your laptop into the reloop section and set them so its highlighted?
Video has been brilliant by far the most informative i've watched and that includes the serato tutorials SO MASSIVE KUDOS you you and team for putting it together. Murtagh
PS the Pad mode setting works fine, just cant get the screen to change to wave format.
Make sure you're running the latest firmware
Hi All. finally found where my mistake is. You need to hold and press (not tap) the shift and arrow key to change from one screen to another. it was the guys at BOP DJ Leeds where I bought it got intouch and explain this is different between the 2 platforms.@@digitaldjtips
Did you find out how to zoom in and out (wave form length)? Shift&scroll button does not work for me. Help me its so frustrating :(
@@skahww1036 Hi I dont think this functions works on serato ist just on recordbox which is very annoying. it would massively help me to if you could change wave form size
Any idea why my reverb percentage is missing? I use the latest versions or rekordbox and flx drivers
Sorry not sure
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Does the lighting feature work with Virtualdj or just rekordbox
Just Rekordbox
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can enlighten me, can I use/run my rx3 through the flx10 on the 4th channel. Thanks for any info
You can run anything that can operate at line out levels through any of the FLX10's 4 channels. Basically just be careful with your gain staging and you'll be fine.
Hey Can anyone tell me HOW onthe FLX10 to activiate a saved (next) loop, I know somewhere Ive seen this is a tutorial BUY just cant remember how to do it. currently having to flip from FLx10 to PC each time and thats annoying. using serato software and I think it was someone to do withthe mix point buttons but just cant remember. cheers Murtagh
My cue buttons are not lit up like yours.. any suggestions on what the problem may be?
They only light when you set the cues
On my DDJ-FLX10 i have an issue where im not able to have the second page of my hotcues. Im stuck with only 8 pads where when i had my DDJ-1000, i could easily switch from my firs page to my second page with the pages buttons. Now it all disapeared. Im using Virtual DJ. Is there a way to fix that ?
Sorry, not sure with VirtualDJ, I'd ask them in their forum.
how do you use the bass stem on the pads on serato?
You can switch out one of the other pad modes for Serato’s 4-stem feature
can you play 4 seperate tracks ? or do you need to use instant doubles?
Yes and no
I keep the key sync lights highlighted because I do not it sounds terrible when I move the pitch in Serato
Thanks for sharing Allan
Just upgraded from a Roland 202 and I’m oddly daunted
Have fun discovering your new controls!
CAN WE USE ONE LAPTOP SERATO AND THE OTHER ONE REKORD BOX ?
Yes you can :)
In 08:10 you Show that you Can Zoom the Waveform by pressing shift+Selectwheel. You only showed it in rekordbox and it works there, but i cant do that in serato DJ pro. Please help me, it frustrates me so much :(
Not sure if it is possible in Serato, not saying it isn’t but don’t know how if so
@@digitaldjtips Thanks for the reply.
Damn, thats bad... that should definitly be an option

CZcams is still processing the 4K version, I guess it takes a while with such a big video.
Thank you. . ! Love from Sri Lanka ❤❤❤
I think there's more excitement about NAMM 2024 than there was for CES 2024.
What do you know that we don't?
at 37:38, the Hotcue Ring doesn‘t work at my FLX10. Show no colored ring, only a soft grey ring. I have at the Pioneer Settings App in Serato DJ the point „Virtual Deck Mode - Hot Cue Indicstor“ Potton > YES.

Good question! Not sure you can.
Omg Lol I keep hitting the FX Button when I want to hit play on the right Deck ! Duh - I'll get it right in a few more times Ha Ha
Muscle memory Allan!
Looks exciting, but I'll best bet. It cost an arm and a leg, which is a dealbreaker for me. I'd like to see some motorized controllers that are super budget friendly. But we'll see.

I wonder why pioneer hardware no longer really supports traktor. I understand it's an older platform, but for my purpose, doing a lot of EDM and techno sets with lots of layers, traktor is the only one that can handle the amount of mapping and flexibility for my work. I have two Allen Heath k2's, as well as a fully custom Control F1. But traktor still hasn't come up with anything like stem separations. So why is pioneer allowing rekordbox and serato, but still either refuse to or can't incorporate traktor software
Don't think NI want that, they want you to use their hardware.
Amazing controller, now if they could just fix all the audio drop issues switching USB inputs. Whole controller / master audio lockups are unacceptable.
What exactly happens?
