I wanted to get this done sometime in February, But I kept wanting to animate more clips to it.

I get the feeling I'll _always_ love characters being depicted as just actors on a set/in a booth in their own world.
I share your feeling, and The Sonic Twitter Takeovers actually present this as being true. When insulted about his jokes, Sonic quotes "I have a script to follow!"
While they may not be canon to the main series, it's still official in one way or another.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's actually David Humphrey, the original voice of Shadow.
He did Knuckles for this series, but I have read that he did read for Shadow during down time, which is what I think that clip is.
Plus, to me, it sounds more like the original Shadow than the Shadow that I recognize, which is Griffith.
No, it's Jason. He also did a blooper line for Sonic, funnily enough
@@irishuisman1450 Eh, alright. I just thought he sounded different from the Shadow earlier in the video, and I had read that David had done a blooper recording of Shadow for this project, but I don't know.
My ear for voices was never really good.
@@TheHylianBatman I'm pretty sure the blooper where David recorded for Shadow was the same blooper where Jason recorded as Sonic, but that blooper wasn't in this video

And you look at the weird steps and flailing limbs from actual game cutscenes. This looks so smooth and lively. Nothing short of genius here. That last little chuckle from Shadow shows how much emotion and natural mannerism this animator can capture.

I've just noticed that these models specifically Sonic and Shadow have small fangs in their teeth witch make it seem more unique and more animalistic
Yeah. I gave them those fangs because I thought they look good. I know sonic had fangs in Adventure as well

Thank you. I gave this my best when animating. Also yeah, I added stuff like the giving Sonic and Shadow fangs or exaggerated expressions because it’s something I like and I would definitely want to see officially, even if it’s not done by me.
Would you believe me if I told you the models used here were from Sonic Forces? (Except Eggman.) They were modified by myself to them the most expressive they could be.
Anyway glad you enjoyed my video. This comment made my morning.
@@SuperStaticPro Kinda goes to show how lazy they were when animating cutscenes in forces though.

@@SuperStaticPro While I would normally agree, they have had such long breaks that unlike some other franchises that a lot of what they do seems more like a beginner's animations when using similar models compared to fan animations.
@@saladplays6911 yeah but thats a heck ton of animation sometimes and you dont actually know how much time each division gets,
Theres like, the conceptualizing stage, planning of the game, all the creation of the game and animations, what seems like a long time for some may in truth be very short for the animators or game developers, especially if theres set backs and ahem, changing what console the game is supposed to be on partway though the process.
It is often gone on record that a lot of the sonic games have to be rushed for a specific date, which absolutely causes a drop in quality and time for these tasks
I do see both sides though

Dude, how did you make it so fluid and expressive? Most 3D animations in this style tend to be a bit stiff and/or less expressive. What program did you use and what's your secret?
Program is Source Filmmaker. My secret is I’ve animated Sonic characters for years and also I made the character expressions myself for these models(except Eggman.) I went out of my way make them expressive as possible.

Always love it when it's drawn/animated/headcannoned that characters in a game or movie are actors.
Like the old Pixar bloopers for Bug's Life, Monster's Inc., and Toy Story were my favorite parts about the movies
It was honestly such a treat to hear some of the classic voice actors again.

Wow, it’s just like how we can use these as ramps
Now what the animator has done here is something I really wish the games would do. The off-to-the-side mouth looks stylish in 2D, but 3D modern Sonic makes it odd by always keeping it crooked and off to one side. I believe it has been like that since The Secret Rings. It's so stiff and awkward. This fan animator keeps the mouth facing the camera at all angels and it makes the mouth move in what seems to be a more natural fashion. Also, props for including Sonic's sharper tooth from old concept art.
I love how this is animated, It'd be nice to see this in some games. It's a bit too over expressive but I love it better than the stiffness we usually get with animated sonic. I like how you move sonics mouth all across his face when he talks. That's something I miss seeing a lot in the pre render cutscenes.
This is the best sonic reanimation I have ever seen using 3D computer models. Good job!

These models give me joy, so much squash and stretch while still looking fluid, not to mention as expressive as a Pixar film.
I loved how expressive they all are, especially those added bits you had made! Also can I just say I loved how you incorporated the fang into Sonics' teeth? I think it looks way more natural on him than his current model.
Wait... Shadow laughed? How Epic, I almost never see even a proper smile from him and I think that.

I loved Sonic and Tails R! You can tell the voice actors really had fun with this project. Ryan back as Sonic was wonderful, and hearing Mike do his own take on lines from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, was phenomenal! Jason Griffith is probably the best Shadow as well, loved the characterization of the dark hedgehog too!

Everyone gushing over Shadow, Eggman, and the fangs (all of which are fair, those are all cool), but can we pause to also appreciate that Sonic reacts differently every time Tails says "those are a lot of squad cars," and is adding character to the scene even though he's not the one saying the line? That's real animator attention to detail! Respect.
I love how every time Mike Pollock makes a mistake, he proceeds to say “hi everybody!”

I know others have said it: The animation really portrays the scene and looks natural. I just love how "allota cars" Tails has movement in his tails and ears during the scene, some would let it be jankie movement. Another is Eggman\Robotnic's point it's so fluid and flows with the voice acting.
Tails saying "damn" was the best moment of my life.
