Beautiful desk. Pro tip...when applying a large sheet (linoleum, Formica, etc.) with contact cement, place dowels or scrap wood strips between the two surface until positioned correctly, then remove the spacers from one end to the other.
Seriously. I'm not sure if I more impress with the stuffs that this guy build or with the lot of camera angles on his videos. It's just one guy, which show his work with different camera angle... This is really impressive!!!!! It is a hard work to do that.
You could probably draw the outline of the phone when its perfectly aligned on the table so you can see where to put it exactly
Draw or put a sticker.
More like using a stencil and some low gloss spray varnish, very light, would do a visual reference without ruining the overall black finish
@@bedongskifrombedongdesign1062 yeah I meant something like that not like drawing a white outline haha would be a little bit too much but just something to like mark where the phone has to go
Using a router to make a shallow hole for the camera bump would be cool and keep the phone in place
@@solarcheese what happens when they change the bump for iPhone13? Probably a new table!
Builds custom table: "I sure hope this thing fits"
hahaaa when it fits
14:38 if this was my shop, this would be the point a wild screw appears
I dont know why this was so funny but it was lol thanks
When using contact glue as a carpenter i always laid thin strips (e.c. 10mm x 10mm) of whatever wood across the width of the glued table surface more or less 100 mm apart. Then i put the linoleum glue side down on top those strips so it does not stick yet but it you can position the linoleum. Then you can pull one strip out at a time and press the surfaces together after taking one out. No wrinkles, perfect positioning and no stress ;)
Love your vids though, thnx for that
I love how you don't hide the details and things that don't go as expected. This make your videos better and shows us up the type of person and professional you are
This is crazy. I designed and built a shockingly similar desk 4 weeks ago. Lino finish, beveled edges, rear cutout. The only difference is that I used the back cutout to hide the monitor stand/integrate it and where you sit it’s cut out in a semicircle to allow better access to the work surface. I should add that yours looks fantastically clean too, well done.
I watch these videos in batches and I just can’t wrap my head around how great the designs are...great work
Tips on laying down large linoleum: You can always put a couple of wood slats or round rods before laying down the two adhesive material, just enough to lift the linoleum sticking to the other side. So when you lay down the linoleum there is enough adjustments to fix your overhangs. Work your way one end. And then pulling out the slats/rods out as as you go. Hope this helps for future videos. A great simple desk, and love the black and wood contrast.
Just realized that you like to "burn the midnight oil", wrapping up the video at 3:38 in the morning... That's some serious commitment right there!
Beautiful desk. The mitered details on the cabinets and top are a nice touch, and the black drawer fronts really make the grain stand out.
that’s a beautiful desk man!! great functionality although i personally wouldn’t want my €1500 or so phone that close to the edge but more to the back , next to the access panel , those chamfers are really elegant and the handle less drawers look amazing!
This is the best desk build i have ever seen. Love the drawer slides, cable hideyhole and linoleum cover!
This brought back memories! My first workbench was a door that was being thrown away from a commercial building. I built a 2x4 frame/leg structure under it and used it for years before buying a proper workbench. Great Job BTW! I love the customization!
This is by far the best desk build I’ve seen on CZcams!! Can’t wait for the plans to appear!!
Love the vid, you can tell how much effort and planning is put in every vid.
Always amazing when there's a new video ready to watch--- love it!
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the two tone look!
Alex : Litterally sanding the MagSafe
Me : Crying
It is just great to see how much fun you are having and how excited you are about your results. Great channel, just found it and already viewed a lot of your videos. 👍
This is exactly what I am going to need to build soon!
Am I the only one that panicked when he sanded over the charger?
Not just the sanding of it, that is a lot of trust in the longevity of that charger... Nice desk though!
@@mikea3793 well if it dies, it dies. It won't affect the desk in the future
@@matheoml It's not a matter of if, but when the charger dies.
Yeah personally I'd have done like I've seen it on other projects cut the hole all the way through and just put a screw in plug or something underneath so if it breaks you can unscrew it and put in a new one. Not fond of permanent tech in my furniture. I like them to be user serviceable or changeable
@@matheoml Obviously the desk will still function as a desk, and a nice one at that, but.... if you look at the description it's a desk with a built in charger, so id that dies it will fail in its described function. If we want to be specific ;P
I can assume someone else may have already posted this but a very easy way to apply a laminate to a surface is by laying scrap wood strips across the surface (after glue is applied and tacky). This will support the laminate until you are lined up and ready to glue it down. Starting in the middle pull out a stick and let the laminate come in contact then the next stick and so on. Once all down you should be lined up right and air bubble free. Use a weighted roller to get a good glue bond.
Beautiful desk! I love the details and modern design you build.
Would probably suggest putting another hole in the back of that drawer with a fan to circulate the air in there because the heat some batteries put off while charging could turn it into a bit of a hot box for your other batteries. Probably not needed for most but just a suggestion depending on the batteries you charge/use and how hot they get.
Especially love that 'brush' to make the cables more neat!
Once again, brilliant work.
It came out so nice! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Turned out great! I really like your solution for cables/power. I like how you can't see the tangle of cords from the top or the bottom.
I love that you added some new songs to the mix recently, thanks.
Minor detail but it makes a big difference for me!
This guy is practically a walking IKEA
Great Desk Alexandre. If you ever have to stick down a surface like that linoleum again, try using dowels as spacers. You glue both surfaces as you did, but then once it has dried you place dowels or strips of wood every few centimetres on the substrate (table top). Place your vinyl (or formica) on the dowels, and then work from one end pressing down and rolling out the air bubbles. Work towards the other end, removing the dowels as you go. This process is a lot less stressful, you don't have to do it all right in one go, and you are less likely to trap air bubbles.
I love your minimalistic designs :), however, I wouldn't recommend shoving a lot of battery chargers into a drawer without ventilation. I got a thermal camera for Christmas and with such a tool you can really see that chargers are getting pretty hot and also warming up their surroundings quite fast.
Awesome table! Good project with many little things one could adapt for own projects!
One of your best builds, nice work man!
Your design and build, really impressive. I love those drawer slides.
Awesome looking desk! Nice work. im always excited to see your new videos.
Beautiful!
nice, that looks so clean.
Excellent video, and almost a ToT level of the subtlety of the suggestion to subscribe!
Keep it going!
Awesome - very nice desk!
The dark linoleum contrasts the ash colour pretty good. And the tapered edges look great. Really nice design.
Desk looks awesome!
Awesome video, really enjoyed
Very well done!
Wow, the way that cable fit into the slit on the bottom of the table was just absolutely satisfying
Awesome video as always
Luv this desk so much. And how You do everything to make it happens. Keep creating mister!

insane build! good job!
Really nice and high quality woodworking Project!
DId my computer table with furniture linoleum and the finish is just really nice. Plan to do a large table now too!
you make alot of nice work
Awesome work! Looks amazing...
Great content as always Alexandre. Your ingenuity is damn impressive.
has a whiteboard to write stuff down on...... puts sticky notes on it
Its free real estate
Sticky notes allow for cut & paste!!
pretty common at my work as markers seem to dry out or go missing when you need them. But every desk seems to have like 50 half used post-its you can grab - such is life
i need this kind of table. my desktop will look so clean because of the cable compartment. great work.
Love watching your videos🔥🔥
Very nice I love the linoleum ides Thank You for sharing
Your attention to detail is amazing. Great job dude
ohhhh god your chanel is soooooo amazing !!!!! i feel so inspired to do stuff at home though i am roof constructor but lets keep it for the rainy days !!!!! once again thanks for your really good vibe you rock man !!!!!
greets from greece !!!!!
bloody nice, great work, great video, smooth draws
Really nice build! It looks amazing!
amazing!! inspirational...
I you use sticks as spaces, you can put the linoleum sheet easy and calmly on top of your desk. Then remove the middle stick, so the two surfaces touch (and stick to each other) and then work out to each side very easy and with no stress.
The sticks will not get stuck to the contact cement if it is dry enough for assembly.
I have an idea for an improvment. You can draw a simple white circle over the black top to help you find the spot better. It will still be minimalistick and it will also be usefull.
Loving the Ercol vibes in this...
Greta video, again! You’re knocking it out of the park 🤘🏼
Nice idea!
Really nice
Just subbed, good work, awesome videos!!
Nice work 👍
Very nice man
Great to see you build some nice furniture again 👌
My favourite channel
I know we've been pestering you for months about the desk. This was worth the wait. Very nicely done.
To help with the charger, maybe stencil a thin white circle around it?
This is the 3rd video of yours I've watched and you do some phenomenal work. I'm a carpenter and I must say I'm jealous of all your tools. Lol
Great work buddy
This man is so happy, i can't resist to hit the like every time before video even started
Really cool!!! You are awesome! 😎
