Ahem, as an Alpha connoisseur the frame is very well designed. I was hoping that Kuro wouldn't release more braindead gameplay characters like Hyperreal or Balter, not saying that they are bad units but this is exactly what I wanted in Alpha's new frame - finesse and technical.
TL;DR She starts off with the tanto, and can only use blue orbs during it. Activating signature switches to oodachi, and can only use red and yellows during it. Activating signature for the oodachi finisher puts her back to tanto again.
Pressing attack after evasion or after the red flash in mid combo will go into sword waves mode.
Press and hold attack to trigger her air combo slam core passive when the gauge number is red.
Press and hold dodge to go into the gapcloser charge. Alpha auto blocks up to 3 attacks and take reduced damage during this. The dash itself has . Doing this right after activating the CUB will result in Alpha to ram with her bike while in oodachi grip.
I don't think she's difficult to play, just that she can do a lot of things. All of her rank passives do not unlock additional functions and are mostly more damage/auto QTE/faster charging/auto matrix etc.
Kuro just needs to iron out some issues regarding animation lock delays and and she should be gucci.
I'm reading this before I play the video,bye the way you describe her sounds like this is Alpha as an Devil May Cry character with alot of different combo mechanics and weapon swapping combos. Edit: oh yeah she finna be dope,and the fact she uses and Odachi makes me feel good playing Nioh 2 with one Heh.
hopefully testers find 4 sig and 2 Tifa are her optimal memories
purely because of Tifa's 137 atk stat as Alpha deserves all the power 👍

Animation wise the odachi draw is legit. With how long an odachi blade is, I really liked the attention to detail the animators pulled by having Alpha draw/sheathe the odachi above her head, as she's likely not tall enough to do her signature iaijutsu hip draw/sheathe with a giant Sephiroth sword.
They should have made her triple wield and have 2 katanna by her legs also lol

Game's national anthem fits her pretty well. Global waiting mode has been activated. Combat-wise looks insane, that face close-up frame during her ult in odachi mode gives me chills. I'm curious about story and affection stuff, Rex mentioned that she has GR logo on her coat, it's interesting🤔
Also she's so cool that even in chibi mode she can abuse Narwhal to create a chill atmosphere around her. Just look at how epic she can swim 11:28😆

Even her clothes are clearly inspired by BRS motifs. Shorts with just a bikini top, and a long piece of coat over everything. Even her weapons, since most of the characters are always seen to have gigantic melee weapons, funnily enough with the exception of the main girl, which has a gigantic cannon. Alpha's frame is the perfect cross between the franchises, and it's understandable, since there will be a collab between the brands.

Everything is perfect about her, as an Alpha lover it's a real gift from heaven seeing a new frame for her.
I expected that Alpha gets an upgrade sooner or later but oh boy...Kuro nailed it so well it's almost scary.
Her animation when she changes poses with the Black Rock Shooter-like eye was the "coup de grace" for me.
And the fact she switches between tanto (small) and odachi (large) in her upgraded form while wielding a katana (medium) in her basic form is a really nice touch.
This is the gameplay that I want from Alpha, not just sword wave spam. Bless Kuro for making it come true.
I love Kuro's design for Alpha since her new frames inherit her old frame kits and make it stronger. Just show that continuity where she keep training to be stronger, not just power up through a new frame.

@NotStanNoppers which other platform has a better combat system? It's just my opinion but I think only monster hunter or dark souls has something more challenging but most of it is just visual adaptation. Pgr forces u to work with what you have. Random orbs

i think it has more to do with the fact that it is a legit combat style, the same way how her laido style from he crimson abbyss is way overused in many types of media
