  • POLE ELASTIC EXPLAINED - Pole elastic set up for Carp, F1s and silverfish, Rob Wootton
    Choosing the correct pole elastic can be a confusing topic, I run through my favourite elastics for Carp, f1s and silverfish work and how I set them up in the top kits.

    Been using that Saturn Reactacore since it came out with a Mk1 XT15. It's the first topkit out of the bag an most of the time. The venue I go to most of the time is stocked pretty hard with carp 3-10lb (no F1's) and a couple of 15's. The bigger fish are a little hairy to get under control but the 3-10 range that elastic is absolutely spot on. Enough of a fight for it to be fun without feeling like you're dragging them in.

    The HiViz orange 6-8 is one of the best elastics ever. Perfect for silvers on deep venues :-)

    Rob just a quick question
    I,ve got a Middy XP35-3 pole which claims its rated to a 18 elastic would that be the whole pole or just the kits that come with the pole.
    Thanks Rob great Vids as always.

      I always think elastic ratings are very general and when a company says a pole is rated to a certain strength then it’s because the pole can cope with the sort of fishing that an elastic is associated with.
      So the xp35, with its rating of 18 is more than capable of all general carping as long as you’re sensible as with even a very light hollo elastic you can still use the puller bung too severely and break top kits ..... to answer your question it’s the whole pole that’s rated and not just the kits

    Loved this vid Rob You know your stuff but I have never finished with a pole but thinking of getting a margin pole I know you are a Middy man Nothing wrong with that but I have been looking at the matrix torque poles the 8.5 and the 9.5 the 8.5 comes with two top kits and the 9.5 which is the euro comes with 3 top kits l just don't know what length top kits to get what is the normal length Would love your recommendation sorry for the long post Cheers Rob

      3 m seems normal and if your after animals 10!to 20 lb heaviest elastic matrix do I use 2 mm and can catch fish this size

    Have never seen this kind of fishing poles before what is the advantage or reason for them?

  • @newyoupersonaldevelopment3497

    Hi rob have you ever used double elastic (2 full lengths of elastic to one Dacron) I saw a video about this once but can’t remember where. Apparently double 8 feels ike 8 on the strike but powers upon a run . Any thought. Best of luck for your 2023 matches 👍😊

      I’ve used it a lot in the past and it was good but I think a hollo is simpler and stronger. I’d say a Saturn reactacore, 13 hollo or grey hydro is about the equivalent.

    Hi Rob, what braid and what strength of it would you recommend to use with light elastics in a top kit.

    • @RobWootton
      @RobWootton  Před 3 měsíci

      Anything over 0.12mm for durability

      Mulleto .... I’m not sure they’re made anymore, you might find an odd one knocking around on eBay or in a tackle shop corner somewhere

    Hi Rob, it’s Eddie using my wife’s account. I’ve been looking for the moletto wheel (if that’s how to spell it). Can you live a bit more info on it please. Thanks

    how do you connect the braid to the elastic?

    • @RobWootton
      @RobWootton  Před 2 lety +4

      A large loop in both braid and elastic and loop to loop connect them.

    Hi rob I use an xz65-3 as well are you confident in using the blue shockcore with it as it says it rated to an 18 the heaviest elastic I use is the Saturn reactacore but sometimes it’s too light.

    • @RobWootton
      @RobWootton  Před rokem

      I use mine with the blue shockcore.... I’ve never had any issues but I guess you just have to be careful until you get down to the top kit
