i love that when the fiddle plays his solo in the beginning you can see the appreciation the banjo player has for his skill. love it.
Josh Turner, besides your musical skills you sure have a knack for gather the perfect people to join you. Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Grandpa Can Cook yes, I believe that’s a big part of who he is.
OK, but he should have gathered a bass player for this arrangement. Plus, 'Fox on the Run' begs, "Play me outdoors."
Agree.
I asked my self "What is missing here?" It's the bass!
When I was 18 (46 years ago) this was a favourite. It was played by the Good Brothers in Ontario Canada. It was a feature at almost every party held. I have loved this song for the last 46 years. You have done it justice.
Good Brothers for sure seen them at the Gambridge Inn
How is this only 8000 thumbs up with nearly 400,000 views?
i dont even like this kind of music, but here i am, again, video after video, giving thumbs up and watching until the end.
I would venture to say that you do like it :)
Scott Sweet I do the same when he posts something that's not a kind of music I normally like...watch it all the way through at least once and thumbs up. Even if I don't care for the song, I can still appreciate the work and skill Josh and co put into it.
I was just thinking this. The harmony has me hooked tho
Scott Sweet bluegrass is where it’s at!
There's fresh air and sunshine out in the country.
My granddad passed away when I was 11 and played guitar, recorded some. This is the only song i remember him playing & singing. Every time i hear it it gives me cold chills & I'm back at that moment. This is so well done! Excellent job!!!!!!!
Holy Moley! That's the violinist from Avalon Jazz band.
Yes!
That’s a fiddle! Flattop .. 5 string.. and a fiddle
I thought the fiddle was super impressive, then I realized they were playing in B flat and my mind was blown
When I'm feeling crappy, I find me some Josh Turner bluegrass. Everything gets good again, real fast. Aaaaaaaaah.
The Country Gentlemen have to be lookin and smiling at you guys. RIP Charlie WAller.
Why is this a surprise to anyone? Like crystal clear water man.
Russ..I see the trolls are here! I hope you pay them no mind. You guys sounded GREAT!
I just found this channel I gota say I'm a hard sell but all these young men and ladies are some of the most talented I've ever seen
I’ve been missing this.
One take
One microphone
One, among Many other, masterpieces done by You and your friends 😉
What a nice birthday Surprise!
Happy birthday!
Theres two microphones
4 lol. we just can't get it right
Woow...
well still very enjoyable!
There’s actually THREE microphones.
This is the first time I have heard Russ sing. Usually all I hear is his banjo. Not bad Russ!!!!
when you know you've nailed it
Great rendition! I had the privilege of seeing Charlie Waller and the Country Gentleman perform this at my college in 1979
I was excepting "The SWEET" song.
expecting*
me too. I wanted to see how they would pull that off.
Me too. czcams.com/video/qBdFA6sI6-8/video.html
Yeah, please do that one as well, Josh & co. 😉
I love bluegrass, but I was thinking SWEET too!
Pretty fiddle playin... everything blends beautifully.
Here we go... here we go
This belter surely adds a different dimension to the Mamfred Mann hit from the 60's. Well done lads.
whew wee what pretty music.. the fiddle player is dangerous
Not too dangerous I hope :) Thanks!
This sounds real good with banjo and fiddle
Bring that fiddle player back for more!
Thanks :)
I think CZcams is bugged. It's only allowing me to give this 1 thumbs up when it clearly deserves at least 10.
These guys are each pretty special.
Same with this comment
no way, either he just doesn't have a good voice or he needs to sing this in another key. Tom sang it so good.
yeh did good!
luv it. guitar pushed it.
Omg fellas...i promise! I'm not just saying this...i mean it!
I just listened to renditions of this by Seldom Scene AND Country Gentlemen and I like YOURS BETTER!
I REALLY DO!
I like this better than the original and saved it to the playlist I put on when I have friends over.
Yeah!
Russ you gave that 81 Gold Star a run for its money, tell ya that!!
I have heard that song several hundred times in the last 30 years and that is the nicest fiddle playing I have heard.
Great harmonies
Russ sings!!!
A bluegrass house music heaven!
She stalks though the corn
Leading down to the river
Her hair smells like mold
In the hot mornin' sun.
She stands on the tracks
But the freight train won't hit her
She steps in the creek
And the crawdads all run.
Like a fox
Like a fox
Like a fox
With the runs.
The non-symmetrical spacing of the 4 pieces behind you on the wall has me convinced that i have ocd
impresive. grtz from germany
With all the s**t out there days it's great to so many young guys and girls not only enjoying music of different styles but also enjoying each other's company. Great guys more please , don't ever put it down
Don't know why but this video makes me wanna offer a pint of beer to all of them, especially to the banjo player.
Well played guys.
I'd take you up on that offer! haha
Grey/Sasha Josh drinks Wine
Bob F. Np, here in Italy we make some pretty epic wine.If Josh&hisfriends ever come to Venice, I'll be glad to host them.
Grey/Sasha Josh has a channel.where he.pairs wines with music.
Bob F. Niiice, I didn't know that :)
Clapping to our brilliant performance from Italy
Country Gentlemen eat your heart out! I particularly like that drag note on the banjo solo. Wow!
Josh.. I wish you would feature more bluegrass... Its nice to see you play with Russ though... Just amazing!!!
One of my all time favorite songs....
Very interesting new companions. :)
Dancing fingers, my ears are having fun.
This is the very best version of this song, Country Gentleman or Tom T Hall never did it this great. My morning routine, play this some and dance with my bird, she loves this song.
My goodness do I love their bluegrass covers.
Goodness that's some tasteful playing on all counts
1968 Manfred Mann to the Country Gentlemen to today. This song is timeless. Thanks so much for this. So much talent!
Lotta talent here. Josh never ceases to amaze at the way he can blend in with almost any style of music.
Russ is always on fire
You guys should cover Sweet"s Fox on the Run!! I'd love to hear a bluegrass version.
Holy smokes heard it a hundred times but there is something special here Great job guys you rock Nova Scotia Canada loves this
Josh is so good with bluegrass, he has a killer voice for it and his picking Is hot. I hope he does more.
He does that to every genre though. Have you not seen his Nick Drake? Josh is like if Prince was a white kid from the burbs.
@@whitherandthither I think my fave is Come On Feel the Illinois.
Now that’s Fox on the Run! Well done lads!
Damn, vocal parts are on point, impressive! Also, banjo playing just puzzles me to no end, there's too much happening at the same time
lptomtom , keep trying.
Thus the paradox of amazing music!
Hmmm. I wish he kept picking away behind the vocals (though at a lower volume) but he just stops. It is my hypothesis that a true banjo player can't pick and sing at the same time because Scruggs style takes too much brain power.
@@Tapajara ... He is one of the best banjo pickers around. He's the banjo player for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. Won't get much better than that!!
Man I've been listening to your music for years now... I'm also a musician for many years.. you're genius and there's nothing more to say. Greetings from Bavaria Germany
Holy S! The banjo player is awesome
I remember Manfred Mann’s version of this way back when. This cover is brilliant!
when I'm getting drunk alone no better company than josh and the music he does
I've been loving this channel for the past 4 months. So glad I stumbled onto Josh Turner and his companions.
Absolutely loved this boys. Also i gotta tell Russ i'm a big Glen Campbell fan and boy their are some parts of this video where you look like him back in the day. To all 3 you boys this was wonderful man. God Bless ya
yea love it!
Amazing from Japan!!
My father’s band play same sing!!
Please watch their band!!
Name ‘North Hill’
I loved the feat. with USSR Carson
Great job gentlemen. Love that harmony & blend of your voices. Doesn't seem fair that yall are so good at instruments AND singing.
Fantastic
Turning music into gold.
What a wonderful job on this good song!😀😀😀
some real good ol country style song. No fluffy voice altering crapp. No drum's or anything, just like cash did, imitate the snare drum on an instrument. Awesome. Big fan of ure projects Josh. Holler to ya'll from the Netherlands
that was good.
Seriously, who thumbs downs this? Great job guys!
L9ve this song. One of the best versions I've ever heard.
Having played Bg for almost 50 years, I can remember when this Tom T Hall song should've been considered the Bg Natnl Anthem.
Russ, as always you Rock!!!
I am speechless. I was living in Indy last year. Wouldn't have left had I known I was sharing the same town as the very cool Josh.
James Toops that Butler shirt eh? Took me by surprise.
Music. It can bridge generations.
There we go…fantastic.
Manfred Mann, Tom T Hall, and Bill Emerson....Very different genres, but this song fits them all. And this is a great cover!
That was fantastic boys. And how about that sustain from the fiddle at the end.....wow.
Just listen to the sustain.
I'm not hearing anything.
You would though, if it were playing...
This is one of the best performances on CZcams.
I want to see you in concert
Perfect, just perfect. Thanks. Avignon France
I used to listen to this song growing up, and this rivals that old version
I've had this song in my head the last couple days..
How do you meet all these talented people?
This is my favorite version.
Single mic, you guys are amazing.
Very good indeed!
July 3th my birthday!
You just gotta love bluegrass for its ability to take literally any of life's misfortunes and make it all right. She took all my love and left me to die, there's imagery in there about the Fall of Mankind, and it ends with my race being nearly over and the hounds at my door.... And yet somehow, I'm OK with all that! :)
Well said!
That was awesome. Tom T would be proud.
Gabe Terracciano appears also with Tatiana Eva-Marie & Avalon Jazz Band
I can't get enough of this..
not the Fox on the Run i was hoping for, but still great!
I love this song, reminds me of my Dad. He was a huge Tom T Hall fan and that’s the version I grew up listening to and if I may say, the definitive version and yours ranks right up next to his. I love harmonizing along with you.
I "unliked" this just so I could "like" it again.....great stuff boys
Real proper music thanks guys made me smile and made my feet dance you guys are gifted need more music
Yep that good.
OO that’s good!!
Awesome song. I am a lot older but first time I remember this song was from Tom T Hall's Album The Magnificent Music Machine. My Dad loved it. Great job as always.
Yeah Russ! Nice harmony!!
so super!!
