RDR2 - Catch All Legendary Fish as Arthur as Early as Chapter 2 (Long Version)

- I came up with this method of catching legendary fish in New Austin as Arthur Morgan using a buggy to block the invisible sniper. It can be done as early as Chapter 2. I am currently challenging myself to do as much as possible in Chapter 2 before moving on to Chapter 3, so I will make more videos like this as I figure out how to do new things. I tried to check if anyone else had done a video like this and I didn't find any, so I apologize if this has been done already. Also, if you are unfamiliar with using a buggy or a wagon for cover in New Austin, I would research that first and maybe even practice it a bit before attempting this as those methods can be daunting at first. I touch on a couple of tips for using a buggy in this video, but I don't explain the whole process as others on CZcams have already done that.
The method took quite a bit of trial and error to figure out, but I think it is repeatable for others as an alternative if the Angelo Bronte man of honor method in chapter 4 gets patched, or if people just want to try to get the fish before then in. I'll admit, this won't be the easiest method to pull off, but it is definitely possible with enough patience. As a bonus, I also included a couple of methods of catching the legendary rock bass in Tall Trees as well as a super quick run through of all the regular legendary fish locations.
I understand that this is a very long video, and although I tried to fill it with as much useful information as I could, I also went ahead and made a shorter version (under 4 minutes) as well. That version just outlines the steps needed to catch the 2 New Austin fish (legendary largemouth bass and redfin pickerel), but I tried to make it as informative and entertaining as possible. Chapter 2, the good old days. I recommend to anybody playing the game for the first time to stay in chapter 2 as long as you can and complete as much side stuff as you can before you advance the story. Upgrade your health, stamina, deadeye, satchel, upgrade your camp, hunt down all the legen 'wait for it' dary animals you have access to. Use your legendary parts to get the trinkets at the Fence fir the perks they provide. The further you progress through the story missions, the harder it gets to do all the side stuff, and a lit if the perks will be worthless because you already maxed out. If you dind ginseng elixir or pirate rum use it immediately ❤

You're truly a madman, in the best way possible... lol. This is fucking insane. I would not be able to stand all that loading. The fact you're using a console is incredible... Not sure if you used the "spawn a buggy" cheat, right by new austin- (so you wouldn't have to start in Saint denis every time), but could still demonstrate it IS possible to catch the fish with the buggy method.
No matter what, this ridiculous- your patience and skills are seriously impressive! I seriously doubt I'll get any other fish in New Austin other than the bass in tall trees (already got easily just by horse).

Nope, this was all organic. Rode from Saint Denis every time. Honestly, I never thought to use the cheat codes just to practice, that probably would have been a good idea, haha.
If it makes you feel better (or worse), this is nothing compared to the time I've sunk into trying to loot the Otis Miller revolver in chapter 2...
I've also spent a TON of time trying to wrangle the tiger striped mustang back to great plains so I could have it in chapter 2. Was sooo close once, and accidentally killed the person I was supposed to be escorting just as I tamed it! Boy, you wanna feel your heart drop... Ugh. I've tried a few more times since, but ngl, I think that horse wound up breaking ME in the end. 😅

I did have one moment of confusion in this video, when you talked about first person mode in the buggy not working... that's actually the only way I've gotten through new austin reliably with the buggy. I kept getting shot through the hole when in 3rd person (some seemed totally random, most were probably because my camera angle slowly drops to re-center, even with the "follow setting" turned off!).
Not sure if this has anything to do with my success with my 1st person drives- but I ALWAYS kept a gun out while driving the buggy, (it's something I saw/heard in a tip video).
Pretty sure looking all the way to the sides will get you shot- and reversing in 1st person definitely will get you shot. I got all legendary animals, the few plants needed, and a couple animal skins all using this method. It was a MUCH less stressful ride for me in 1st person (and no constant fiddling with the camera angle).. I died soo much less in 1st person. (Still used the 3rd person sweet spot when getting out).
I feel it's easiest to keep it 3rd person, right until before reaching the bridge that starts the sniper.
(You're pretty much a wizard though, and your own methods obviously work damn good for you!)

Aww, thanks so much for the kind words! I'm not trying to be a big CZcamsr or streamer or anything though and I just do this stuff as a hobby when I figure out things that might be useful to others. I kinda disagree with channels that just make videos using other people's discoveries unless it's something that everybody's cool with or it's just a better video that more simply explains a complicated topic/glitch. For instance, I had a guy want to make a video about my blackwater glitch and he was someone that I'd developed a bit of a rapport with already and he honestly did a better job of explaining it than I did, so that sort of thing I'm all about. It's just the " don't forget to smash that like and subscribe button" type of content creators that I'm not really a fan of. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox, sorry. 😅
Anyway, yeah idk if PS tracks time played. I'm sure it must somewhere, but I've played this both on PS4 and 5 and doubt there's any accurate total out there. I'm guessing it's in the thousands of hours though. I originally started playing the game pretty much exclusively online with a friend of mine for like the first year or so it was out. So I had a really good handle on the controls/mechanics and the map, but just not much experience with story mode. Then once I DID actually play the story, I loved it even more and that became my primary focus. I've actually still never completed the entire epilogue though, funnily enough. Maybe i just don't ever want it to end, haha.
But no, I've always done self challenge type stuff like this in games, I just don't usually post about it. For instance, I decided I was going to go through ALL of Elden Ring (known for it's extreme difficulty, if you're not aware) without ever equipping any armor or upgrading my health (basically, just getting one-shotted by everything) and just about accomplished it. But that was just a silly goal that I set for myself just to see if I could. This is just how I've always played some games and how I get the most enjoyment out of them, honestly.
Anyway, anyway, to your question about 1st person. Yes, is a totally viable way to do buggy stuff in NA, but I was specifically referring to the fishing thing when I said that and not regular travel. I generally use the gun-out method for long travel on established roads, but I still keep it in 3rd person. As far as off-road stuff, I guess I just feel like I have more control over my sniper cover in 3rd person...or it's just what I'm used to. I think I probably just haven't done 1st person enough to establish a comfort level to use it more, if I'm being honest. If it works good for you, then, I'm all for it. You're probably right there. This is just what I've become accustomed to and old habits are hard to break. 🫤
I don't really play much anymore, but I still had some videos that I wanted to make...just life crap got in the way. I'm currently playing a lot on switch (the newest Zelda, specifically) and might be uploading videos detailing some fun stuff I've discovered on that soon, if you're at all interested. But yeah, I'm just an all around gamer that happens to be a little too stubborn when it comes to a game trying to tell me I can't do something. 😂

Hey, thanks! That means a lot! Yeah, I feel bad about not making that Elemental Trail video yet. I have all the footage, just haven't taken the time to put it together. I'm hoping to get some time soon to sit down and crank out a few videos that I've been wanting to make.
However, I can tell you that getting that 3rd map piece involves carrying a carcass on your shoulder and using the bridge itself to block the sniper fire. It's tricky for sure, and took me quite a while to work out a repeatable method, but where there's a will there's a way, right? Haha.

I’m not even that much of a gamer. Really. Been playing on the Xbox (only recently found out that’s not the good one) since it came out, and am on only my second playthrough. But this time I’m doing it right and doing everything possible with Arthur before TB and before getting Micah out of jail. I’m more or less there - but not the fish, oh god not the fish. With a family and a job the constant reruns back from Saint Denis make this challenge next to impossible cos I just don’t have the time. Thanks to you I’ve just got the Pickeril. Give me a few more months and I’ll get the rock bass. Cheers
Haha, i get it. Trust me. I got kids too, but it's kinda cool to get to play games with them and share my passions. I'm definitely a gamer, but what I love more than anything on games is accomplishing things your not really supposed to be able to do. It's fun to watch my kids start to do the same things. I like to think I'm showing them how to think outside the box, but really I just like having little buddies to share these things with.

Just saw this following the short version video. Fantastic run with precise and persistency! May I ask if I've already finished the Once We Loved mission, and replay it and take Mary's brother to Blackwater, getting the legendary fish during the mission. Does this count as a collection after I re-do the mission and back to my normal progress? Thanks.
I don't think it counts if you do it during a mission redo, because you don't keep anything from those and you have to send the fish in for the quest. There are other missions where you can go down there peacefully though. For instance, any mission where you have someone on the back of your horse (such as any bounty mission and I believe even the Valentine serial killer).
Found out that if you get catch cutscene when too close to the water (when you catch the largemouth bass) the sniper continues to shoot at the back of the buggy instead at the front of your head, although when the camera goes over the shoulder you still get shot.
Oh good to know! You know, I never actually tested it with that one and I always wondered if that was just a generated cutscene type thing, or if the camera actually moved. It's weird, because it looks similar to the skinning animations, which I've found will get you shot. I guess that's good to know.
You know, I wonder if switching to first person before catching the fish would work then? I'm fairly sure it would block only one then shoot right through like it normally does, but honestly I didn't test first person in that location, so who knows?

My latest mission has been to try to herd the Tiger Striped Mustang all the way back to Great Plains in order to break it there. I've gotten really close a couple of times, but always get destroyed by the Pinkertons. Anyway, I thought for sure nobody else would be crazy enough to attempt that and I was thinking of making a video about it once I finally did it, but come to find out someone else just put up a video about it last month! 😂

@@vampiregothu__u8507 Well, I'm no closer than when I started, but at least I know what DOESN'T work, haha. My main theory is that if I can somehow at least get the chest open before dying, I can come back several times to loot it.
So far, I've tried quickly opening it (by equipping 2 handguns to drop the carcass) in between sniper shots, lighting it on fire, killing my horse and trying to push it's dead carcass inside the cave, backing and pulling the buggy in there, using the chest itself for sniper cover, doing the companion glitch to bring buddies down there to use for cover (they won't follow you into the cave), and probably a few more things...
I think the most promising thing I've discovered is that there's a tiny chunk of rock that can be used to block the fire, but it's super small and once you drop the carcass, the camera shifts slightly. I haven't been able to find the exact right compensation to keep it blocking. I think that if I'm able to do that and holster my weapons before doing the "search" command, with enough luck I should have enough time to at least get it open before dying again. Obviously, ideally, it'd be best to devise a way to keep the sniper blocked while you loot the whole chest, but I've tried so many times that I'll be happy with anything at this point.
Anyway, that's my current theory. I was also thinking of trying to start the search animation then quickly setting up camp to see if that lets it finish first since the sniper stops and resets during that animation.
I'll let you know if any of this gets me anywhere, I just can't leave chapter 2 until I get this damned thing looted! 😂
@@shermutt there’s a rock that provides protection? Is it behind where Arthur’s head would be when looting?
@@GJ05_ No, it's off to the right if you are facing the chest. It's just a tiny corner of the rock wall near the opening of the cave. If you are too far away from it, it won't block anything, but even if you are close enough, it's only a few inches wide at best.
I got really lucky when it actually blocked a shot to allow me to open the chest, but I don't know that it could be a reliable method. I plan on making a video about it if I even manage to actually loot the gun, but if I have a chance, I'll see if I can upload a picture or video of the spot.

Have you tried the 45 degree angle method for the small fish as well? Seems more reliable to me if you can block the over-the-shoulder camera angle when you catch the fish with the buggy. Going to first person and praying that you won't get shot is kinda random.
Unfortunately, the 45 degree angle wouldn't with on that dock because it's just too narrow. Either way, you have more coverage whole reeling in the fish with your back to a flat surface than you do with an angled one. As far as the chance of getting shot while switching to first person and risking spamming keep, well it's there, but somewhat low if you do it right. The wooden part of the buggy will block at least one sniper shot which should be all you need to get the fish in your inventory.
Thanks for the tutorial, I had a question, if we go to New Austin with Arthur for the final stage of mission " a fisher of fish ", can we pick up the hat and special spinner before the sniper kills Arthur?
In short, no. In fact, I don't think it even let's you access that part of the quest until the epilogue, unfortunately. I haven't progressed that save file to be positive, but that's my hunch.

Been awhile but I've seen someone use John to go to NA, I think during the Bronte Mission. Never thought about taking the kid brother. Heck mayybe a random Stranger Danger like the woman needing a rode or hogtying someone. You did answer my thinking about going in first-person assuming the Camera simply can't "See" you. Need to hookup my Xbone, wife been hogging my PS4 to watch the Olympics and some Netflix crap about the British Royals. Wonder if I can hogtie Micah and drag him around-even if I get shot as long as he does too I'm good. Last but not least-there is a Controller setting in the game that allow you to switch Reeling in Fishing from having to ratate the Joystick to simply holding a button, easier on the Joystick and Thumb.
Also, even if you get all 13 fish, you can't go to new Austin with Jeremy gill?
I got all the legendary fish in chapter 2 but 2 in wanted area. my pole will not equip. it happened once pryor until completeing quest with Dutch and Uncle fishing. after quest it worked fine but now im stuck agian is it the wanted near Blackwater or what ? help

I've just discovered you can get to wander all around Blackwater if you have serial killer Edmund Lowry on your horse...NO SNIPER or LAWMEN.
You get shot though if you try to get to New Austin..

I am also on my 2nd play through in chapter 2, dont plan on moving further other than for the bandit challenges but I’m focusing on completing all 90 challenges as healthy Arthur. But I would say I have it easy cause I’m playing on PC and can disable the sniper via trainer. Completed master hunter and herbalist challenges so far. Herbalist 9 still took some time to complete but was easy as I was able to teleport to each individual location of every herb.
I did it on pc with enabled sniper it was fun to teach and perform canvas vagon method. But it's still much easier than on controller so It didn't make me feel like hardcore player.
I know I’m late but the bandit challenges are dumb and can only be completely after chapter 3

Just saw a video by Jimbatron. He noticed a ‘glitch’ where, when you pause the game, the timer of the sniper shot is reset. So if the sniper shot shoots once every second, you have a half second to pause, then play, pause then play. It might take a few pauses, idk maybe 10, but you can use that to go from catching the big fish to stowing it in your horse, without the sniper firing off a shot

Yeah, I think I know what video you are referencing and I talked with someone about that method (maybe the guy that made the video?) and tried it quite a bit. I came to the conclusion that it's gotta just be a PC thing. It just doesn't work on PS. Dunno about xbox, as I don't have one, but I can pretty conclusively say that it doesn't work on PS.
That said, if you happen to get it to work and have some data to share, I'd be really interested in what you discover.

Not just on my unpatched version but on my updated one as long as you do Swanson before Javier u can ride with Swanson into new austin sleep brake the hhalf breed and drop him back at camp but if he falls off or not return him dont count. And I didn't even have the map and I got Otis Miller gun. I sunk war ship in Vietnam with 8 dynamite arrows but like micah respawns
Oh? I knew you could go down to great plains with Swanson, but I thought that the invisible sniper would still shoot you if you entered New Austin. Thanks for the info. I'll have to play around with it myself and see if I can get it to work.
@@shermutt yes ur correct invs sniper soon as u cross water so maybe Cruz I drove him to van Horne and then tried to do horse to Blackwater's whichbi did but Cruz the game gives you ur stupid horse from Sadler I didn't even have Cruz I found a way to open up a horse station before the useless mission with hoses were a 2000 lbs bear is on top of me and only person with a gun is my great friend hoses and dont help I was able to kill the bear and skin real fast then run back to hoses and he still asks me if I'm staying to hunt it with his remains skinned but ur right but if I had a faster horse in replay or got to horseman number 8 or whatever the run is I could do it on that mission with my horse. But if you wanna buy time for stuff leave Swanson on horse go steal wagon he follows and pray he dont get shot o dino helps with horses.
Great job! What I find most frustrating is that it takes so long to steal the buggy from Saint Denis and get over to New Austin. So all the times you die having to start all over, is the worst. Are you starting from stealing the buggy each time you die or did you find a way around that?

But to answer your question, yeah, you have to go back and steal a new buggy each time, unfortunately. I've gotten pretty good with them, that I can get quite a bit done during one buggy trip, but all it takes is a stray bullet or a hidden rock to ruin the whole thing. The carcass method has the advantage of being able to save and retry while still in NA, but it's also a more limited and slow method overall. However, it's still quite useful for getting things in small, hard to get to spaces (e.g. the ram skull mask, Otis miller's chest, ancient necklace, etc.)

Where did you get the special lure? They aren't unlocked until after "A Fisher of Fish."
You should be able to buy them in Lagras after you've talked with Jeremy Gill for the first time and got the legendary fish map.
hey I got a question will your buggy idea work to get the last 8 dinosaur bones
Yes, it 100% will! There are several videos up on here that talk about it, so I haven't made one about it, but here's the essential idea. Just park with the dinosaur bone in the left side of the buggy (photo mode helps immensely to find them). However, be sure not to park too close, or he'll get out on the other side and you'll get shot if you aren't fast enough with the camera. Anyway, granted you get out without getting shot, you can inspect the bone under the buggy cover and get back on to go do the next one. Theoretically, you could do all of them in one run.
There are a couple that are tricky to get to (one near tumbleweed in particular), but most of them are fairly out in the open and easily accessible.

for the second fish, I always got killed on 13:35 angle. The camera switched and show my head and then got shot. Any suggestions?
Lower the third person FoV to minimum when you catch the fish and your head won't poke out as much. Then after you have kept the fish you can revert back.
After you talk to Jeremy gills, can you go to new Austin safely since it’s a mission?
Nah, you can't. You can send off all the fish, but it won't give you the next part of the mission until the epilogue as far as I know.
Did you find a way to complete fisher of fish 2 before the epilogue ou as arthur?
No, I didn't.
I mean, I didn't play past ch 2 after catching all the fish, so it's possible that he sends you an invite before the epilogue, but just the fact that you have to meet him in New Austin to finish it, makes me think that it's not likely. Also, even if he did, I'm assuming the sniper would still be active. So you might be protected through the cutscene, but you'd likely get killed before you could do the rest of the encounter and get the hat and lure. And given that you can get his hat early through a "kinda" glitch and that the lure is not really THAT good, means that the only reason to actually complete it would be for the percentage boost.
Sorry, I wish I had a better answer. I kind of just did this fish thing to see if I could then thought maybe other people might want to challenge themselves too.
So, if you save the game in New Austin, then you load, you will spawn outside New Austin. Right?

Sorry for the late reply! Normally, yes, but if you set up a camp in New Austin then save, you will respawn at that camp. The sniper will begin immediately, but you can technically save there.
That information doesn't really matter for this glitch, but I just thought I would clarify.
what happens if you catch all with arthur and start the fishing mission? are they still riding to Rio Bravo?
You can't continue the mission until the epilogue, sadly. So ultimately it's kinda pointless, just for fun.
What is the highest percentage you’ve reached in chapter 2? With Micah still in jail, and I haven’t done the mission yet where Arthur gets tuberculosis I’ve made it to 49.9% after I get these fish I should be well into the 50% range
I don't have it in front of me currently, but I think you can conceivably reach close to 55%. I started another playthrough a while back to get all the weapons I missed (you can actually fill out the weapons in ch 2 if you do it right), but I never finished. I'll update what my % on my previous playthrough was when I get time.
Am having a problem with the legendary redfin pickerel, when i cast the fishing rod i take a couple steps back to the buggy and when i start reeling the fish the camera goes in front of the buggy and then i get shot. Any tips?
Hmm, a couple things. You gotta make sure that your head winds up a little to the left of the oval because the sniper can shoot you through that. And if you're to the right of the oval, when you start to reel, it can get you around the right side of the canvas. Also, make sure you are hooking it as close to the dock as you can. If it has too much room to go side to side, that will get you shot as well.
Basically, even if the canvas isn't technically in between you and the camera, it still blocks the bullets as long as the angle is correct. If you are within like 5ft of it and have the camera at the right angle, it should always block, but the closer you back up to the buggy, the better coverage you have.

I had my fair share experience with the buggy for the plants I need for herbalist 9. Died a lot. Will never set foot in NA again for anything else with Arthur. Just too much stress for me
Haha, I can respect that. It can be pretty stressful, but after a while you can get much more comfortable knowing when you are safe and not and the stress diminishes. However, I will say that my heart was pumping pretty quickly when I was trying to get that bass on my horse. 😅
It was like that for me at first... getting through West Elizabeth without dying, then through Austin without dying, then picking a plant without dying, getting the legendarys without dying... the level of reaction ranged from rage quits to finally 'ah, dammit... ' sigh *reloads St. Denis save*. It gets easier and easier. Eden showed you can go first person in the buggy, it's not foolproof, you tend to get shot when going down the steeper declines but if you stay level, such as staying on the rail tracks at full gallop, you can get to most places pretty quick.
Something I noticed is when I was getting the turtle trinket as Arthur the lawmen’s roaming around tumbleweed roads are extremely dangerous if you get caught. Literally had 2 groups of 10 lawmen spawn in front of me and shredded me in 1 second not even joking
What method did you use to get down there?
I ask because the way the lawmen behave down there is determined by your wanted status when you cross the border. If you are using the buggy method, and wait for the wanted status to go away before crossing the border to NA, you won't get the roaming lawmen that act like Pinkertons when they spot you. They'll just act like regular lawmen, and as long as you aren't committing a crime, you probably won't even see them. But if you cross over it with a wanted status still active, then you get the hulked out, ganged up, shoot on sight type.
@@shermutt I went out of the map and set up a camp and did the carcass method to get the trinket. I know lawmen patrol the area for some reason and I didn’t commit no crimes and they knew who I was and started shooting. I even tried to use dead eye to manage to kill all of em but they killed me when I was in it.
(I had the carcass blocking my head the whole time so it wasn’t that I died from that)
I’m guessing it was Pinkertons that spawned in but i thought they don’t in new Austin
@@shadowkiller8193 did you happen to get near tall trees while you were out of map and potentially draw their aggro. There is a little spot where you can get a pack of them and steal one of their horses, but I think that method might trigger that same result.
The only issue I had to deal with while going for the turtle trinket was the del lobos or whatever right around it.
Edit: In fact, I think if you technically even enter the tall trees area, and don't get them on you, it might still give you the same result.
That's the only other thing I can think of.
@@shermutt no I stayed away from Tall trees never got wanted making my way to Gaptooth. I even have a bounty in new Austin.
@@shadowkiller8193 Huh, yeah, that's weird. I'm sure there are other situations that can trigger that scenario that I just don't know. Is it happening every time you go back to NA now? Maybe try paying off all your bounties or something? Not sure.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong trying to catch the red fin pickerel. I'll do everything the same hook it and reel it in switch to first person right when the animation begins but I still get shot before I can press keep. Any thoughts?
First off, congrats on getting that far. It ain't an easy task!
I think you might just be getting unlucky. The sniper shots can be anywhere from like 1-4 seconds apart and if you get a couple of close together ones in a row, it can do you in through no fault of your own. It also might be a head placement thing. If you're too close to the oval, i think you can get unlucky and get shit through it.
My suggestion would be to practice a similar setup outside of NA and see if there is any openings for sniper shots (maybe use pause and photo mode a bunch to check).
All in all, it's a pretty tight setup and doesn't leave a lot of room for errors/bad luck. Sorry, I couldn't be better help atm. It's also been a while since I've played, so there might be something I'm missing.

Sorry for the late reply, but no, you can hunt it as early as chapter 2. You just have to get all the other challenges done first.

drive carefully with the buggy. you can literally unlock the map of New Austin. Also with a bounty hunting criminal on your horse, tall trees and great plains are available as well.

I've tried the small fish yesterday. Follow the steps in the video. Then I cannot control falling off into the water. Do you think I can park the buggy a little further than you from the water? thanks.
Sorry I'm late to reply on this...but it's gotta be pretty precise. The problem is that if you are too close to the water, you'll fall in and if you're too far, the reel will auto-reel back in when you try to back up to the buggy.
You could maybe try holding down to go into the compass option menu which greatly slows down time (i just learned about that) which could give you more wiggle room to swivel the camera and check how close to the end of the pier you are.
@@shermutt Thanks Shermutt! My problem is that when I walked Arthur to the back of the buggy, then take one step forward towards water, then Arthur took more than “one step” and fell into lake. This happened to me all the times no matter how careful I use my left stick of the controller (xbox one x). Also my stick shift a lot by itself when I enter into map screen. maybe i broke my controller too hard 🤣
@@gordonkao8236 Oh damn, yeah... I know the movement can be loose, but yeah, it might bea stick drift thing? Idk about xbox (i play on PS), but I know Nintendo switch has a known issue with stick drift and will replace the controllers for free (i have some getting replaced as we speak, actually) so I wonder if xbox had something similar?
I haven't tried this in forever, so I can't remember if I did anything special to not fall off, but if I think of something else, I'll try to comment on here. Hope you have better luck! 🤞
@@shermutt Thanks! I'll try with another new controller. I know I can do the fishing during Angelo Bronte mission, but I do like challenging myself during Chapter 2. Maybe I like to finish anything I can early and then relax back and enjoy the story.

How do i keep the buggy? Do i have to go get a new one every time?
Unfortunately, yes, you have to get a new one each time. You might develop your own good system to do this, but generally I've found that following a buggy that is leaving out of St Denis over the bridge towards Lagras is the best time to hijack them. If there is a single driver, it's best, but basically this is what I do:
I will follow them until we just get out of city limits, then if no one is close enough, I'll jump off my horse and run up to the buggy with my mask pulled up and pull them out. Then you can aim your weapon at them and threaten them. Generally, they will take the threat and not go tell law enforcement and you're good to go. Even if they do go running to tell someone (harder to control multiple passengers and some just don't take the threat), since you are outside of city limits, cops will take a while to respond and you can still make it out with no bounty.
Then it's a matter of either auto-plotting a course (slower but easier), or going offroad and eventually using the bridge near flatneck station to cross the river (faster but riskier).

Ugh, that sucks! Did you switch to 1st person as you started catching it? Yeah, I'm not sure. I think with the little ones it always does the animation. At least, I'm not sure of a way to skip it if there is one.

Why can't you throw a deer or something onto the roof to cover the hole so he can't shoot you through it ? Or does that not work ?
I think anything in or on the buggy would just bounce around and eventually fall off/out, but I can't say I've tried it, so who knows. You might be on to something.

Sorry for replying so late, but it just happens that way sometimes. The rhythm of the sniper shots is random, so you probably just got unlucky and it did them too close together.
You need to hug the buggy with your back so that the sniper hits it when you go into first person.
which missions have you done?
Almost all of the chapter 2 ones, but the only ones you really need to have done to do this is the Fishing of Men mission (fishing with Jack) and the first Jeremy Gill mission (where he gives you the legendary fish map).
Do you know how much time it took me to finish herbalist 9 as Arthur the Buggy method ruined me I'm not ready for another 4 days
@@Formerhuman_ you get better at it. In my most recent playthrough, I was easily able to get all 4 NA herbs in one go, and even go looking around for other stuff.
Honestly, it's the nerves that get you, but once you understand your limits well enough, it's not so bad.
That said, I'm still not sure if I'm going to try to repeat this on my current playthrough. 😅

I have a ps4 that I bought just for 1.00 and I've gotten Otis Miller with out the full map and my question is can u do the Rio bravo mission at and. With Arthur I thought there was only one leg fish in new Austin I guess there's 3 still water. Then large mouth what's the red and at any time in updates or 1.00 if you replay Swanson misson puthim on horse as all horses showed up to bond at f uh rdr2 except Hungarian half breed put Swanson on at that point but instead ride to black water sleep in new austin and wake up hes still on horse half breed there bond but you must then drop off Swanson I'm camp and if he falls off your horse reset so be carefulll

Good thinking, but I tried that, and no. He is too close to the shore on the New Austin side to fish him from that far. I honestly couldn't even see him in photo mode.

@@sunnychiang4556 I think yes. If you get close enough the sniper will trigger. That barrier is different in different areas, but if I recall correctly, you can get right up to the river in that area.

How do you use eagle eye in the buggy
you can't IN the buggy. you have to get off the buggy to use eagle eye. check within the video.
How did you catch legendary fish in chapter2 you can't start catching them unitl chapter 3
You can, and it's been a while, but I'm pretty sure you just have to get your hands on a fishing pole and then go visit the dude's shack down on flat iron lake.
There might be some other requirement that I'm forgetting, but it's totally doable in ch 2. Chapter 3 is just when the game talks about legendary fish and helps guide you to it.
Honestly, you can do just about anything in ch 2 that isn't locked within a mission (such as opening up the horse fence, or doing a stagecoach robbery).

@@GemyOsama Have you done the mission where you take Jack out fishing yet? That might be required first. I know that I had difficulty getting my fish to start registering for the challenges and I had to do that mission first in order for them to work.

I think i included a section on this longer version about catching the Legendary Rock Bass in Aurora Basin. Basically, you just run in with a cop from outside of tall trees/great plains chasing you, lose your wanted level, cast out and catch the fish quickly, then hightail it out of there. I did it on my first attempt, so it shouldn't be all that bad.
I think the Pinkertons won't come looking for you while you are fishing, but I could be wrong about that. Hope that helps!
