As a college dropout, our community hates college and we are told it’s a scam. I dropped out and realized life would be way harder without a degree so my ass went back. Nothing is wrong with getting a degree
Congrats brotha, I dropped out at 18 thinking I was going to start a business… here I am 7 years later at 25. I just graduated with a degree in computer science in May and I recently got a job starting at 85k. Just last year I was 24 and working at Burger King for $9 an hour. I felt stuck and depressed. Now I feel like my life has turned around.

College is a waste of time if you’re going there to be a social justice warrior. You’re better off going to trade school and learning how to actually do something.
College was worth it to me. Cmgraduated with a degree in Management Information Systems, was making over 6 figures by 25, brought my first investment property at 28, and built a real estate portfolio leveraging my corporate job. When I had a patch of bad investments I picked up a second remote job paying over 6 figures n rebuilt my liquid capital. The network, discipline and safety net of my degree was worth the cost of tuition.
Same. Graduated in 2014 with a degree in Accounting, was making six figures by 2017, had my first investment property by 2018. Also developed a network of high earning individuals while there. Don’t go to college for bullshit and you may find a return on your investment
Ex Navy guy here, he's right the military gave me discipline, showed me how to conduct as a soldier and turned me into a leader amongst my peers. I came back home in 2014 It gave me a different perspective.
My College degree didnt make me 100k a year, I've never used my degree once for a job. The people i met in college lead me to be able to make 100k a year. It's definitely what he said. you use college to network, if you're not the lucky ones to make it in their field of choice. Helped me in life and changed my prospective on being at home doing what everyone else was doing. Working hard everyday
At least 50% of the degrees are near-worthless. My college degree has me earning over $200K per year after a few promotions. STEM + consulting specialty is where it's at, not wankingOff in Gender studies.
@@fleecejohnson5750 why would i have went into those when graphic design was a higher paying job when i was in school. But like CW said, college is more of connections with people, my friendships and connections i made in college helped me make more money without working in my degree field. I pay more in taxes each year, than what all 5 of those golden jobs you named make in a year.🤷🏿♂️ That's the whole point of the statement, college is about the people you met that can help u in the future.
Agreed. College wasn’t a waste of my time. Paid off my student loans and debt free except mortgage. 7yrs into my post graduation career, making close to $200k/yr. Living off of one paycheck, investing the other.

In terms of WLB, then I think that is very dependent on your client(s). I’ve worked assignments where I work 40hrs/wk and some where I did 60+hrs/wk. However, I believe that with high compensation comes high responsibility/workload. You have to choose what’s important to you. I am willing to be the sacrificial lamb and sacrifice some of my personal life so that I can buy more personal time in my successors life. If I can leave behind some investments to work for them then maybe they won’t have to work as hard. Could be flawed thinking but I’m just tryna blaze trails becuz no manual was handed to me.
I'm back in college at 33 and it's been a very rewarding and challenging experience. He is right, critical thinking, meaning question EVERYTHING is one of the biggest skills you will take away. I must admit, I wasn't ready after high-school. Fast forward, I thought I was too old to return until I got in class. I have 40, 50 & 60 year old classmates. It's never too late.
I’ve been critical thinking since I was 9. I hope you got more out of it than that. I’ve questioned everything younger than 9. Jehovah’s Witness tried teaching me about god on a bus stop. I left them speechless with one question and they got the fug out my face, fast..here’s the question,” if God made everything known to man, who made God”? Mic drop. 36 years later nobody has yet to answer that…btw , high school graduate making over 100k a year. Easy…but whatever advances your life, go for it. Sodda-tay.
@@NoLineNoWait123AbC You could have started your own thread. No one here cares especially when you think I'm talking about critical thinking on a 9 year old level. A few human development and cultural anthropology courses would help you.
As A 13 Year Army Veteran I Can Honestly Say It Was The Best Decision I’ve Ever Made. Earned A Living, Traveled The World, Earned Degrees, Training In A Variety Of Areas, Top Health Benefits For My Kids & I, Paid Education For Kids, & A Check For Rest Of My Life. But Most Importantly I Enabled Myself To Grow & Develop From The “Hood” Or “Street” Mentality & Circumstances.
This is real deal advice I joined the navy straight from high school and honestly I’m out now but my life been smooth and structured because of it fr 🙏🏾 definitely a step ahead now
I agree . So did I …got out finish my masters degree in cybersecurity, got a 100% rating from the VA.. got a great paying job… just starting a trucking company phucking with Charleston White… the military helped set me up for the success I’m having now .. joining after highschool was one of the best choices I have ever made
Bro. CW is always on point! I was a dumbass all the way up to 24 years old. I joined the army as an infantryman and they sent me to Afghanistan and Iraq two times each. The military changed my life. It teaches so many core values to live by that it trains your brain to become a better person. I wish my three babies would joint the military. I tell my kids the Air Force is the way to go. Treat you better, feed, you better, and the get better living quarters. The Air Force is the branch that will teach some to become a subject matter expert in their field (MOS). CW stats giving that good advice to the youth. Love it!
All facts, I am a veteran my self at 26 and everything he is saying is right because I love the benefits I am reaping from going to the military. I hated while in lol but defiantly played the game right and reap the benefits now. Salute
It’s the biggest legal lick in America. Even if you want to go to college. Give Uncle Sam at least three years. That’s less then college. Get out, then he’ll pay you to go to school full time. Don’t let your military occupation pay well on the civilian. Then he would have trained you in a high paying field, then pay you when you go to a university. That’s two degrees in 7 years and you didn’t pay for anything. Mess around and work the game to get out at 100% disabled vet. I get $4130 a month until I die. I’m 39. My mom and pops been married since before I was born. They are both retired, Post Office and Operators Union repetitively. Either of them are pulling that in a month. And my children and go to any college or university for free in the state that I reside in. And they get free health care. Oh. I almost forgot. You can’t be Veterans Day. It’s the best day if you aren’t a mother. Being a veteran and a mom must be crazy!!! P. S. If you have a full ride scholarship, I’d still consider it. Be an officer. You can still get your doctorate and what not, but Ph. D and a veteran. Only thing next is president 😆

@@Lazyeyeblindman You know. It’s basically because of what we been through and trained for, we are ready for just about any and everything. But to top it off, what ever they toss at us economically, we know we got that check coming regardless. If veterans stop getting compensation, the world is in the shitter, and nothing even matters anyway. I’m in the VRRAP right now for cybersecurity. All free. At 100%, I told my mom and pop’s this about a month ago because they both want me to go back to work as a DoD Civiial. I was a GS-11, but resigned because I wanted to get some of that overseas contract money. I told them, “Yeah I’m not working right now, but with this check I get every month like clockwork, I’m still middle class.” They shut the f up. 49,560 a year tax free. And I receive BAH of 1,494 for every month I’m in school. Man I’ve been telling folks since 2008. Just give the big uncle 3 or 4 years.
College isn’t a scam, but it’s definitely not the only option. The education system fails to teach the kids about the amount of options they have though, and most of our people don’t have the ambition to go out teach themselves either. If you don’t have a marketable/lucrative trade or have the discipline to go the military. NIGGA take that bet on yourself and get a degree. A lot of y’all worried about debt but would sign a million dollar record deal loan in a heartbeat.
I basically forced my son into the Navy. He graduates from boot camp in a couple of weeks and is loving it. He actually told me that he's glad that I pressured him into doing it.
As a college graduate I agree 100% percent. I found myself in college, met my husband and best friend. I don't work in my major but a 4 tear degree was necessary for my career.
Nah they never made connections in college that's the problem. you have to join clubs etc. folks get told by their parents to keep their head down in the books.
Excellent point. I joined the army in 1998, got out a few years ago because of medical issues & and I receive disability compensation, completed most of my college while I was on active duty. The military was great for me, I should have had a masters degree whenever I got out, but I’m making up for it now.
In my experience, my 2 years in college getting my associates degree was 10 times better than high school and middle school. In College you are solo and it definitely helps create critical thinking
I never went to college but I had college experience with those who went to college. It's definitely not a waste of time for social networking and meeting lifelong people who will be valuable for your life. I wish I received a school degree than street degree 😪
People get lazy and major in Art then get mad when they graduate and can't find the job they are looking for. Your suppose to get a degree in a field of value and also work while your in college not just go to school.
Even though I only went for a couple years, the college experience as a whole was more beneficial for me than what I first thought. Just being away from home for those 2 years showed me that I could successfully maneuver throughout the the world and just look at the world from a different perspective. It also helped me to develop social skills that I couldn’t learn from just being in the hood all the time.
Never went to college had this girl from college I had clapped up and that was the first Time i was on a college campus walking through college doors shit made think bout life….💯
FACTS!!!! Same!!! College taught me social so much skills and I’ve made so many connections from it. I went for two years and decided to chase my entrepreneurial dreams, but wouldn’t be this far if it weren’t for the connections I built during those 2 years
Outside of my degree, college helped me grow up and find my identity and gracefully eased me into adulthood. Plus it was the most fun 4 years of my life.
It depends on where you wanna go in life. I’m the only person in my family who didn’t finish college. I got a warehouse job. Got promoted twice until I got to a position where I can drive 18 wheelers for the company. The company paid for my CDL and schooling. And now at 29 I’m making 130k a year. All I do is drive, sit, and drive…LITERALLY…and I’m home everyday. A piece of cake! My parents and brothers all went to college and none of them were making that kind of money at the age of 29. Granted they make money now but they graduated college in debit from student loans. I never had that experience due to the fact I didn’t finish college. And to add to my story…I remember arguing with my parents because I didn’t want to finish college. Now they are extremely proud of me. You can also network at a trade school too. Lastly my middle brother is literally the only one in the family that got a degree in the field he’s working in. Everyone else got a degree and is doing something completely different than what they attended
Some of my best debates in life happened while in College! Still applicable to this very day and I’m talking 2006. It’s really up to the individual to make the most of the experience. Networking is key. I have friends that went onto to do great things and some who didn’t finish at all 🤷🏽♂️. Do what’s best for you! Trade school is the dynamic as well.
I dropped out a few years ago because I wasn’t disciplined and wanted to BS around. I’m currently back in school and now I got a job that I’ve always wanted. Everybody should try college at least once. Just try it out and see.
That part similar experience. If your not a hustler and you didn’t go to college you will be one of the ones complain about society cuz you haven’t got yours. Charleston is pretty much on point
The presentations you do in front of your college classmates alone give you so much confidence when speaking to strangers. Whether that be an interview, making a face to face sale, etc
Charleston is Very Smart & intelligent and is a Very Good and Articulate Speaker...These type of interview Platforms really bring out how Knowledgeable he is
My mom is still in debt but has a masters in nursing and makes great money. However I was only in college 1 semester and dropped out because I was going through issues with myself and I’m still in debt with no job in the field I studied. College like most things in life is what you make of it. 🤷🏻♂️
I got a degree in 2015... I ended up working at walmart for a year and a half... Now I work in a corporate office in Beverly Hills making twice what I did last month. Its about character. The degree wont guarantee you anything, your not entitled to anything in life. But when I was lazy I got my degree, when I became no longer lazy the degree was there waiting for me. Think for yourself. Go get an education.
It’s all relative. It depends on the person and their willingness to use that college experience to their advantage. Depends on the degree, connections, experience, willingness to go above and beyond just the college itself and the classes. Gotta tap in. Not everyone can do it while in college. I think most do so after. I met my best homeboy as a sophomore and he was a freshman. I told him the first time we met that he was going to be a young mogul one day. Fool already a 6figure man before 30, married, and damn near has as much rank as a CEO.
You can get a trade and accomplish everything he said college helps you with but with a trade you're getting the hands-on experience and you won't go in debt trying to achieve it
Exactly, College is full of shit unless you’re gonna be a doctor, All other fields you do better just taking online trade classes or becoming a truck driver for the low cost of about 1000$ a year
I wouldn’t say college is a waste of time but go when your ready, a lot of kids don’t come from money, mentally that already takes a toll. A lot of people go into that situation under pressure that if you don’t go straight after high school you gone fail in life and I don’t agree with that. You graduate in June and start freshman year of college in September. Just a few months prior to starting college you had to ask to use the bathroom but now you have all these responsibilities. High school is supposed to prep you for that but that don’t happen in all cases not to mention some parents are not all the way involved in these kids education
I don't think college is a waste of time. College taught me critical thinking skills on a deeper level. High school is strictly by the book and standardized testing.
He bout 85% correct thru this video.. he literally made his self look foolish in order to get ppl to listen long enough to get his true message across.. he definitely finesse tf outta ppls thoughts
RoofGod1984 Exactly I hate hearing people brag about how many degrees they got but how about that debt degrees are only Decorations in 2022 Most Rich People dropped out of College
Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur. The world needs doctors, engineers, and people in positions that requires degrees that make the world WORK. Im an entrepreneur but i would be dumb to say my engineering degree was a waste.
The 2 things you should get out of college is critical thinking and learning how to research. Many people leave college without those skills though. Basically college is what you make it.
It’s always been a waste of time in our community. You’ll get shit on for going to school. But your lifestyle will get glorified if you’re sellin dope, robbing, or killing in our community.
Don't need college to gain knowledge about the world, but then again, I get where you're coming from. Nothing like hands-on teaching from a professional.
College is a waste of time if you don’t have a purpose on going their , a lot of students go to college to do things they are not passionate about so on that aspect it is a waste of time
That military part true far as in the street dudes me and my brother was fucked up taking petty risks and working a regular job. Now we both enlisted got skilled trades we learned so we can work after the military benefits and own our houses and cars it changed our outlook on life for sure 💯
You have to do research know where your degree will take you and know what’s in demand. Sometimes your degree may require you to relocate, which most people are scared to do.
Yeah that’s a fair take because you’ll never know who you’ll meet on campus so I can see that perspective. But you gotta look at every aspect of college besides that you can’t justify that being the only reason to go to college because that’s one sided logic. He’s not analyzing is college worth the student loan debt, the long sleepless nights stressing about how 60 page papers are due tomorrow, the thought that you can have multiple degrees but it’s still a possibility that you can’t find a high paying job?
@@SCommanderJR It was for me. Mommy and Daddy weren’t there to wipe my butt anymore. I had to take out loans, get a car, get a job, and focus on studying. At the same time met professors who were complete a holes, exactly like the majority of my future supervisors. I went to St. John’s University. I don’t know what college you went to or what you did there, but life got real for me.
For me personally it was a waste of time. I went for Business Administration and switched over to Computer Networking Systems, along the same lines as Computer Informations. I did it mainly to satisfy family. What I do now is work from home, and not even in the field I went to school for. I sell various products online, and invest. I'm now getting into jewelry, and figured out how to successfully diversify my portfolio. With college grads unemployed, or working in fields they never went to school for, inflation up, the cost of living up, pay remaining the same, jobs being outsourced, I'd recommend going for a "trade" instead.
That’s your fault not College. You should have switched up to Computer Science not CNS or CIS. Even with a CIS you can get a decent salary if you’re willing to put in the effort
A degree doesn't guarantee anything and that's what people have wrong. The institution you get from plays a factor as well because not all education is equal. It's your responsibility to utilize the knowledge you've gained in order to leverage yourself to a better position. I've touched money and have met people that I otherwise would not have if not for the environment that college brings as well as fosters. Everyone is different and of course my single unique experience does not speak for others.

Those things aren't a waste of time because you end up with knowledge about those subjects. College is about gaining knowledge not getting a job. Getting a job is a bonus.
He's right about how college disciplines you and gets you ready for the experience in the field you study, some people make it without a degree, I'm 37 now and get it, finishing my degree now, 2 classes left, it will definitely benefit my life in the future, just get it on paper, it will change your life.

A lot of millennials were told to go to college by their parents… thats it. Wasnt told what to major in, the importance of internships, how to get a return of investment on their degree, anything. So when they graduated and found their specific area of study wasnt paying worth a damn and they have the same debt as I do (a six figure person) they think they were scammed and say it wasnt a valuable experience. When I could have (and would have.) told folks this would happen back in 2009. Then there’s the people who never went and did the blue collar or certification route and became successful. They say its not valuable as well. Which to that point it wasnt valuable to them, but there are plenty of people it was valuable to
I say if you want to persuade a career that REQUIRES a degree then go for it, but over all it’s a scam, you can go learn a trade for a year or 2 and come out just as good if not better, what you really want in this 🌎 is HANDS ON EXPERIENCE
You can get hands on experience while in college. Fieldwork, clinical, internships etc. All of that goes on a resume/job application. And a lot of jobs REQUIRE a degree. Would you tell a doctor making 400k a year that he should've gone to trade school?

Everyone needs to go to college. College is a 4-6 year buffer for you to grow from a child to a young adult. You get to defer REAL LIFE instead of leaving high school and just straight in. It’s 4-6 years to find yourself and figure out what it is you want to do in life. That’s on top of everything else you learn. College can be a waste of time if you don’t take advantage of the time to learn and network with other students and your professors. One relationship can propel you into a career you may not have considered but end up excelling. If you want to be an entrepreneur, go to college a learn HOW to be an entrepreneur. Go learn HOW to run a business. It can never hurt you to be educated on how to do something.
All that information you can learn on CZcams for free… and the difference is 9/10 people on CZcams that teach how to be successful actually are successful in what they teach
Those professors that teach entrepreneurship or how to run a business aren’t successful millionaires entrepreneurs, if that was the case they wouldn’t be teaching at a college for a living … that’s where CZcams/internet comes in… Wanna learn how to be professional real estate, there’s 100 successful people with courses willing to teach you … Wanna learn marketing ? Etc. College isn’t a waste but to learn how to do anything that doesn’t require a degree you can learn from the internet
Most of your world leaders and movers of society went to college and got their position partly due to college. It would be best for you to remember that.
Depends on what you want to do. College isn’t for everybody and there are toooo many ways to be successful without all the debt so it really just depends on what you want to do.

Salute
big facts!!

If you chose to go to college, look into the value of your degree beforehand. That would save a lot of disappointment some folks experience after graduating. My accounting degree is serving me well.
College for ppl who got parents that don’t know how to direct they kids or further advance your ability on a technical and scientific level
No….
U sound crazy
“Parents that don’t know how to direct their kids” lmao
czcams.com/video/qClSETKOdlU/video.html
You mean it's for parents who KNOW how to direct their children. My in laws are doctors and sent all of their kids to college and they ALL graduated in great paying fields. One making 400k+ a year. You saying her parents didn't know what they were doing ?😂
Waste of money if you can't use your degree an still owe student loans
Facts! I graduated college last year and still haven't found a job for my degree due to "lack of experience" and I will have to pay back money for loans.. it's all a bunch of bullshit I wouldn't even advise anyone to go to college unless they have the money to go and really wanna go other than that I wouldn't even waste my time and money going..
He actually speaking some good shit
Despite 2 tours in Iraq and some tdy to Jordan and Iraq the army saved my life. I was homeless, father died when I was 5, lost as fuck. That shit changed me for the better. Only people I ever see talk shit about the military are those who didn’t utilize it as a tool. I did 10 years I got hurt got my 100 percent from the VA. I’m good my kids get to go to college for free (up to 36 months), my spouse gets a gi bill. I go to school (and get paid 1200 to do it in housing )for free a good job a tax free 3800 check in the mail that goes up every year for the rest of my life and I’ve earned my keep in the country. I saw some shit but it changed my life. I’ve met life long friends. Have a network of people all over the planet. If you are lost go do that shit. All that “it’s not a black man’s army” is from the fucking 40s and if anybody say that to you they have no idea what they are talking about. Every unit I was ever in was either a mix of mexicans and blacks and the mexicans were always cool as fuck. Had only one white commander and he was cool too. It’s not like how it is on tv at all. Oh and fired some dope ass weapons did some wild shit been all over the world the military lit for real. If I could do it again I’d do it straight out of high school
Yeah, I’d do it straight out of high school too but don’t be cappin like it ain’t a white mans army. The shit is what it is.
@@makomajin6592 no its not !!
@@makomajin6592 I was at hood -fort Jackson- and sill majority of my units were all niggas and Mexicans. I didn’t get the bullshit not saying it doesn’t exist because shit it’s in all walks of life. Now to say fighting for a government that don’t give af about me that’s a deeper topic
@@makomajin6592 have u ever been in the military?
@@joshamsalu6663 Yep.
Thats a personal problem if you spent all that time getting a degree and dont use it lol. Careers in my field wont even glance at your resume without the degree
I agree a hundred percent and I think this message needs to be said more in our community
@@stringer2295 that's what I'm trying to tell people in this comment section. People are sitting there saying you don't need college to gain knowledge but at these places that are making the real money in the world if you aren't at least coming with a degree or certificate you won't even get an interview don't even think about the job.
@@tristinhall1275 facts but I think a lot of people who have something negative to say about college weren’t given the opportunity to go, they don’t seem like the school type
@@stringer2295 well yeah I can see that much. A lot of these view types also happen to come from The hip Hop community. Everybody thinks that they can just up and start their own business or be an entrepreneur outta left field because they don't want to listen to nobody and everybody want to be a "boss" not realizing the certain things it takes to get there.

Real shit
Amazing...facts brother...
Those professors that teach entrepreneurship or how to run a business aren’t successful millionaires entrepreneurs, if that was the case they wouldn’t be teaching at a college for a living … that’s where CZcams/internet comes in…
Wanna learn how to be professional real estate, there’s 100 successful people with courses willing to teach you …
Wanna learn marketing ? Etc.
College isn’t a waste but to learn how to do anything that doesn’t require a degree you can learn from the internet
@@honestman3918 what would 100y require a degree just curious
Most of your world leaders and movers of society went to college and got their position partly due to college. It would be best for you to remember that.

I See Charleston White, I Click. Simple! 💯
College and the military is mainly about making it work for you. Discipline is vital too..
Depends on what you want to do. College isn’t for everybody and there are toooo many ways to be successful without all the debt so it really just depends on what you want to do.

I hate the fact everyone thinks college isn’t important like if all your chasin in life is money then I guess not but what about dr and scientist like if everyone stopped goin to school how are we goin to be able to live when ppl get sick you need school for that you need ppl to study and know what they are doing like it’s not just about becoming rich and famous cause all the shit we have now is from science how can we move forward without that and drs to keep us alive and healthy if everyone said fuck college we wouldn’t last the next 200 years that’s a fact ppl will be to dumb to survive and move the ppl forward
Thank you
Cw right on the money about the military. I went in at 18 directly from a group home. It helped more people i know than it hurt.
One of the most brilliant things he had said. People don’t realize it’s all about relationships
