As a Brit obsessed with Eurovision, this is the first I've seen of ASC. And...WOW... she _understood the assignment_ *scream face* This makes me want to go track down the rest of the show! NICE WORK!!!

This isn’t just a win for Alex but the KPOP community as a whole. Alex will be the second ever KPOP act to perform on the BBMAs and I genuinely think she has the potential to be one of those KPOP acts brought up in discussions of who paved the way.

Seeing all the music show programs posting videos of her and congratulating her for being the winner makes me so happy for her. Sure, it was a bit overdue but she’s finally gaining more recognition back in Korea and that’s one of the many things she’s accomplished by participating in this contest ❤️

as a European who’s had a lot of fun at the memes clowning on ASC, and I know my opinion isn’t carrying any actual weight here but imma give it anyway lmao, but this was so fucking good. it’s is giving me 00s Eurovision vibes, which might not sound like a compliment but it really fucking is. Alexa read the assignment and hit it out of the park and all the way to Europe.

@@implantier2 케이팝 팬도 있지만 그것만으로는 심사위원 점수 5위였는데 팬투표로 200점 넘게 앞서면서 압도적으로 1위는 불가능하죠. 아직도 방탄이랑 싸이 블핑 정도만 알고 미국인 대부분은 케이팝 잘 몰라요

I think she is currently the best dancing singer in the Korean kpop scene.
I watched the whole contest and all the contestants were talented. But out of all of them, AleXa had the most stage presence and the was the one who was the most like a "star" on stage (seems the most comfortable performing on stage). I'm not surprised she won.
To be fair, that's probably because she spent years as a kpop trainee to make her debut and she also competed in music survival programmes in South Korea🤔 Both are known for being extremely competitive and inhumane when it comes to expectations by their coaches. At their companies the trainees have to take lessons at singing, rapping, dancing, PR training, etc., all of it every day for many, many hours. What I want to say is that Alexa trained hard for a long time to kill a perfect stage and to be a star. Nonetheless, I'd even dare to say that for Korean standard Alexa's stage presence is pretty average while overseas she's on a whole other level. Though, I haven't watched the other ASC contestants so I don't know whether some of them were trained stage monsters (meant in a positive way) like her or already successful musicians to keep up with her experience😅

Just talent doesn't define stage presence. She undoubtedly has lots of it but for me (and that's just my personal opinion) Alexa doesn't really soak me in when she performs in music shows in South Korea because there is too much competition that is just as good. Of course there are groups/artists who are "worse" than her, but also some that are better. So she is in the midfield aka average.
If you feel and think different about it, that's just fine with me :D
AleXa is just another league than all of the other contestants from what I have seen! a true ICON and very deserving winner! honestly, she probably would even do VERY WELL at regular Eurovision as she is bringing a fresh and modern genre to the public that is rather new in the west! congratulations! I LOVE your performance! You've made the right choice, america! ;)

I love how she's finally gotten free of her strings. In the end, she didn't even need to pull her own strings because there were none left to speak of. Then we knew her transformation to a Queen, is complete. She literally left the stage on fire on her way to her "Wonderland" aka the BBMA. The voting session was just a formality

AleXa's edge in this show is she doesn't just compose and sing, she performs! That's way more entertaining than the other contestants because audiences are more into sing and dance nowadays because of the Kpop fever. Being a Kpop fan, I'm so proud of her achievement internationally. 😊💗
I would've LOVED if they had kept the backing track vocals out like they did for the semifinals. This was not as bad as the pure playback from the qualifiers, but I still would've loved to hear her voice more. A fully deserved win, even though Allen would've also been a great winner.

Let me tell you why no one should be surprised that AleXa won
Six nights of every week in South Korea, a different song contest is broadcast. It's like a mini Eurovision/ASC every night, on different TV channels. There is pre-voting and live voting, with points also awarded for albums sales, youtube streams etc. A winner is crowned each night. It's very competitive with up to 15 songs being performed each night, and a win is a fairly prestigious achievement in kpop.
When an artist releases a new song, they spend a gruelling 2-3 weeks performing on these shows, six nights/week. I say gruelling because they don't just show up and perform, their days can start as early as 5am before the actual live broadcast around 6pm, as there are rehearsals and pre-recordings to get through, as well as hair, make up etc. The different shows have different demands when it comes to how much vocal playback (backing track) you can rely on, with some shows dictating that your vocals be 100% live. Doesn't matter how difficult and intense your choreography is, you're still expected to sing live, and if you sound bad then Korean audiences will rip you to shreds online.
Guess who has gone through all this, several times? Yeah, it's our girl AleXa. She's never won because she doesn't yet have wide recognition or a strong fanbase in Korea, but if you want to see her performances on these shows, they're all on youtube!

All the individual performances are uploaded onto CZcams afterwards (just look up the name of the show) but if you want to watch the full shows live, here's a guide. All times are in Korean time which is GMT+9:
Tuesday 6pm: The Show - CZcams (The Kpop channel).
Wednesday 6pm: Show Champion - CZcams (All The Kpop channel).
Thursday 6pm: M Countdown - MWave CZcams channel, but the link is private, sign up on their website to get it.
Friday 5pm: Music Bank - CZcams (KBS World TV channel. Note the 'TV', don't go to KBS World channel). This show is my favourite as the groups must sing live!
Saturday 3pm: Show! Music Core - Twitch (try users noctAQ, skpb, bloom_iz_, snlive1).
Sunday 4pm: Inkigayo - Twitch (try the users above).
