The timbre in Matt's voice has such heart-wrenching quality to it. It's not necessarily a flawless voice, but I think that's part of the appeal for me. It tugs at your heart, eh? Being in the US, I didn't know about him until I happened to come across his rendition of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and was blown away. I'm looking forward to the day he records that special song with a timeless hook.
Watching Matt on U Stream earlier today, I was struck by what a naturally happy person he is. Maybe he can be so light hearted because he gets his sad and negative emotions out in song. He pours them out and leaves them behind.

what a beautiful God-given talent. I am a new fan as I live in the US. I am thankful Matt is still with us after his struggles with addiction. A tough road but God has a plan for him and isn't ready for Matt to leave us yet. He's got work to do.

There are so many versions of most of the songs now. The full album version, the acoustic version, and three or four different live performance arrangements. Some are folky, some bluesy, some rocky. There is even a dance club version of Starlight. So just about everyone can find a version they like. I love them all.

Matt I followed you since XFactor. To me you have the greatest talent. You work hard and Your voice gets better and better every year. Why you are not even more famous I do not know. But you are the best and true to yourself. Keep singing and playing please.
He wasn't after fame. He wanted a break to be able to make music on his own terms. He said so consistantly since the audition. And his handling of the Ed Sheeran issue shows that he's serious about that. Instead of using it for some hyped promo he cut all media outreach for 3 weeks and just ploughed on with his tour which started that exact same week.

If I make a mixed-tape, and maybe it'll be a single artist, but I would put this song next to Maxwell's "Silently" .Same sentiments and the evidence of the depth of their emotions. Matt, remember the principal advice you got when you started in America's Got Talent: OPEN YOUR EYES!!!! Throughout this video your eyes are either closed or looking down. The eyes are the windows of the soul.....that's what is awfully missing in this video.
