Every once in a while the world needs to have a film of beauty and old-world charm like this.
Totally agree
And "Once in a while..." more often! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
@@qhop5726 agreed...more often for certain! Thank you! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, too!
I don’t know why the ratings for nice stories like this one & so many others people really desire to see, are found on the “Rotten Tomatoes” list!? I don’t think it’s the people watching giving these ratings, as these are wonderful stories!
Blessed Advent Journey.
🕯🕯🕯💜🌿
I really enjoyed this movie - it's so refreshing to be able to watch a wholesome film with no violence & sex. The story was also believable with a happy ending.
Thanks for the nice words, Elizabeth. So glad you liked it.
@@ChickenSoupForTheSoulTV You're welcome.
Why kidnapped by the Gypsies ? First of all it’s Roma and second that line is really harsh and untrue also has no place in this movie or anywhere else wish there’s a way to change this and other slanderous beliefs about Roma
@@lionn8172 you may have noticed that this was not set in 2022.. therefore the ideas of children or even adults are not going to be in line with the way the world sees things now. This is a lovely story and if the only thing you gleamed from a heart warming tale is a child’s idea that gypsies are kidnappers that’s a shame.
Well said & I agree 💯 it’s so difficult to find anything to watch that does not rely on shock value to replace a plot. This is a lovely story about a widow with heart & the reunion with a mother very different from herself. Thanks for sharing. I needed something gentle to watch today. Happy Thanksgiving 2022
We need a part two. So heartwarming ❤and what is needed most in the world-a love for neighbors, friends and FAMILY!!!
Glad so glad the some people still believe in that, bless your heart
Was thinking the same.. And googled to check.. An old fashioned Christmas is part 2..please upload it if you can.. Thank you in advance
💯 agree

Never give your kids cell phones or video games. I'm 68. Our neighborhood was loving and every woman was your mama or grandma. Small towns, road our horses to school. I am so sad my grandkids don't have that life. Chores before and after school. Church on Sundays at my grandma's home. Just safe & fun 60 yrs ago
I love the old fashioned thanksgiving. Everything has gone too commercial. We just celebrated ours on October in Canada.
@carolinemah9972, It was Written, Directed, Produced with Canadian Actors, and Actresses for 99% of this movie, and filmed in Canada; so Thanksgiving probably DID take place in October on the "set" !! Only it was BASED on a Louisa May Alcott Short Story, and made to RESEMBLE an American situation, most likely on the "King Estate". 🍁
Thank you for making this lovely movie available for viewing, so that so many could enjoy it 😌 Blessings to all.
Thank you for watching, Cheryl.

Those were trying yet beautiful times when people genuinely care about one another’s wellbeing. I loved the lovely vintage dresses, hats and burnt out shawls very classy. The main cast consist of charming looking people. The whole story line was well narrated and everyone did a great job of acting even the little ones. This movie was very pleasant to watch, good for the soul with great moral values to live by. Thank You for sharing, God bless you and keep you safe in Jesus Name Amen 🙏 😊
Thanks for the nice comments, Tonya. We're glad you enjoyed it.
Aww, a very sweet film. I do agree, we need a part two! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I'm trying to get into this movie, and early on I see 3 stocky, if not plump, children, and a mother that says they can't afford any of the TG food.... Hmmm... Carrying on..
There is a part two. It's titled An Old Fashioned Christmas.
@@finallythere100 . I loved this movie.
This is the movie I wanted to see just before Thanksgiving. I noticed the resemblance to 'Little Women', and surprise, surprise, it was written by Louisa May Alcott. Thanks for sharing this wonderful "old fashioned" movie with us all.

One of the most inspiring and heartwarming movies that I have ever seen! So touching in things that really matter and refreshing from what our world has become!
Thank you for watching, Tony. We're glad the movie warmed your heart.
Saw this delightful movie based on Louisa May Alcott's story when it 1st aired many yrs. ago. So glad to have found it again. The true meaning of Thanksgiving is to be found in the story. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

@@cdfdesantis699 it seems like yesterday and an enternity ago.
I was a young mom happy in what I thought was a great relationship.
I was healthy and very active, loved gardening, my garden was beautiful abounds the with flowers, my house clean and tidy . We had enough money and lots of friends and family.
Now I’m ill, chronically I’ll in immense pain and totally bedridden.
Before that I had my 7th miscarriage..
My house and garden a total mess ( in need of paint and some new windows and door locks. The outside needs painting and some plumbing work and my garden is totally overgrown ..)
my mothers things stored in two of my bedrooms , all the way to the ceiling I’m not able to do anything.
My boyfriend left me when I became ill and with him his daughter.
Turned out he’d been cheating on me since we had been together for only 10 months , with both genders.
In the years that have passed . I’ve had several operations, been raped and lost 11 close family members and several of my best friends. The few I had left don’t keep in touch since I’m bedridden and not able to go out or visit.
I’ve tried to commit suicide, been in a pschyciatric ward for a month and in different useless therapy .
I had to go disability support which has made me now to be on the breach of bankruptcy and all my money go to medication and the house.
My daughter and I rarely have more than one meal a day, dinner / hot food maybe 4 times a month.
My daughter has in that timeframe been sexually assaulted twice and had to go trough trials and even a stay at a juvenile center because children’s services thought she safer there before the trial since I had just been to hospital. That scarred her so badly, she was terrified all the times that seemed like an enternity, but was only 6 days .
My lawyer got the whole mess cleared up after a 5 minute meeting .
My mom became very ill and passed away last year, after us hardly being able to see her in the nursing home for a year because of covid .
Her last 3 years my daughter had to take care of both my mom and me, so she didn’t get to graduate from Highschool ..
I’ve lost my 15 year old dog and 3 precious cats.
I had to stop working as a foster home for animals because I have enough to take care of the 6 cats I have here. One who’s 15 and soon has to be put down because he’s lost his sight and hearing and lost a lot of weight.
I also had to pull out all of my teeth because heavy medication made them to rotten from the inside. They looked white and perfect until they fell out. I got so many painful infection that I had to pull them all. I was supposed to get new one this summer, but I’m still waiting…
We have to be cold all the time now that it’s winter as we can’t afford to keep the house warm .
Both my daughter and me are gluten, lactose and fructose intolerant and allergic to sea food , nuts , potatoes, rice and legumes so that we have to eat ridiculously expensive food , so we can’t afford it.
This last year my daughter has lost 55lbs and I 40.
So we had to buy new clothes on credit cards , which of course messed the rest of the finances.
I’m scared to death of losing my house. The only place I’ve ever felt safe.
I’ve moved 18 times before I built this house in 2000 when my daughter was a year old.
Her dad/ my ex husband abused me and got only a 2 year sentcense for death treats and physical violence against me.
My daughter is 23 and lives at home taking care of me and works as a bartender at a nice cocktail bar at night until 6 am..
I was sexually abused as a young child, raped twice after I turned 18. My brother died when I was 2 , my dad when I was 9 and all my grand parents and my great grandma from 14-16..
I was bullied at school from 1 grade until Highschool .
I never got to use my university education in archeology, literature and folklore as I married at 22 with a violent Muslim man. He’s married again and have 4 young children my daughter are not allowed to see.
I used to be pretty , popular, funny and could make friends with anyone.
Now I don’t have a single friend.
I’m alone most of the time as my daughter works nights and sleeps during the day and has to do all the household chores and go to the stores.
I’m not even allowed to drive anymore because I have to wear fentanyl patches for my pain.
So my life’s a mess and I have lost my looks and all confidence.
I can’t go out at all , because I’m on chemo and a cold, not to talk about covid could kill me. And can hardly walk because of the pain anyway…
I’ve haven’t talked to a man and has been celibate for 8 years now.
I’m lonely and afraid for the day my daughter moves out.
So I’ve lost so many years that 2008 seems like yesterday, but at the same time it feels like forever….
@@malina1239 Friend, life & fate often seem so cruel to those who least deserve it. I know, believe me. And there's no point in offering trite platitudes to people suffering extreme misfortune. 2 things that give me hope through all my trials are my faith, & knowing that I'm never really alone, no matter how lonely & miserable I may be. I remember the story in the Bible about the 3 children of Israel in captivity in Babylon, & how they were thrown into the fiery furnace for refusing to worship the Babylonian king. The king's guards looked into the furnace, & then exclaimed to the king, "Did we not put 3 men into the furnace? Now, they are free of their bonds, & a 4th stands with them, in appearance like into the Son of Man; & they are not burnt up!". Christ, Who was the 4th Man, could have removed the 3 from the furnace, certainly. Instead, He stood with them amidst the heat & flames, protecting them, & proving to the king & his people, & to us, that no matter how horribly bad our situation is, He's always right in the middle of it with us, & able to save us if we put our faith & trust in God. I don't know if you're a believer, but I pray you find comfort in this example from God's Word. I know you're not alone, & please know that I pray for you & millions of others like you every single day. God bless you, friend.

Thank you for watching Maria Luisa!
Beautiful. Family is family regardless of differences and disappointments. We all live by grace, faith, and hope, and need to embrace love and a thankful heart with the ones we love and who love us.
Man! That was a good movie! I kept putting it on the back burner for later, but it popped up on auto play and I watched it. Had me in tears at the end with the two love birds saying goodbye. Such a good movie of discovering what really matters...love, repentance, forgiveness, and family. ❤️
So happy to read your comments, G Smith. Thank you for watching.
There are very few movies made in this class. This one gets 7 out of 5 stars. Amazingly deep and healing for the soul.
Eternal thanks to all those, who partook in this. Thank you Louisa May Alcott for your wonderful being, giving this to the world.
It's like air for damaged Covid-19 lungs. Like food for the starving. Like water for the driest throat. Like a welcoming bench for exhausted legs.

How much I wish love were still the way today, as it was long ago… where even a minute apart, felt too long, and the shortest words had the greatest meaning. Where love endured all, and stayed strong through the good and the bad.💕 Nothing today can compare with that!

This is one of my all time favorite Thanksgiving movies and the followup one about Christmas is even more wonderful than this one. It picks up where the Thanksgiving movie leaves off. Well done!!!!!! It brought to mind the strife between strong women in families and how they relate to one another even when there is love between them. Nothing like two Alfa hens in a coup let alone three!!!!! The lovely Jaqueline Bisset never grows old. I remember her in the movie The Deep so many years ago. We should remember people change and learn, well at least some do and for the better. Wars, epidemics, The Great Depression, famines, hard Winters brought out a strong will to survive, in some to unite, to push through to the other side where so many could no longer go.
