People look at it with nostalgy glasses, but actually BMW made a smart decision and adapted to market in order to survive. They wanted to compete in the more luxury segment, therefore cars like 5 series had to be more elegant, to appeal to more audience than angry teenage boys. Of course, boys went angry but BMW made more customers. There are not enough customers for edgy sport cars. Most of people who say they will buy them are teenage boy who can't afford. And I wouldn't say nowadays BMWs are bland. Those are both dynamic and elegant. Have you seen a bland car? Some BMW models still look very agressive, if not too edgy. You don't want your mainstream model like 5 series to appeal only to a very small group. And I would say they are still agressive with new front. For me, as a person who grew up without 90s BMWs around, looking at them without sentiment - I can say these cars have good appearance, but don't feel like something extremely special nowadays.
I had E32, still have E38, and e65. Now I want sell e65 and still use E38. I know IT is old car but I love this design and better Comfort than this in e65.
i don't know why car manufactures have one sided decision on car design.. BMW should introduce 3 prototype different designs on any new car on car shows.. and let people choose what they liked the most.. and build on it.. for example.. new cars like honda e has huge positive reception when it was introduced in a motor show.. now honda is selling them..
There was an optional accessory...a moulded plastic holder which slid onto the side of the centre console Jerome. Held 2 cups from memory. Not exclusive to the E32 I believe it was suitable to other BMW's (E34 for example) but it definitely existed. Black composite/plastic.
I just don't understand why this car didn't have 2 separate exhausts? You can see there is 2 exhausts from each cylinder bank, but then they join together, only having 1 exhaust at the back? WHY? was this for cost reasons? all the new BMWs have dual exhaust that are V8s and V12s....
This has been the design of that era, same on 3- and 5-Series - exhaust on the left side, 1 tip for the smaller, 2 tips for the bigger engines (and the square tips for the V12). The reason may have been that BMWs came with R6 engines = one bank only, with exception of the V12. When the V8 models were added later, they kept this design. The following generations of 7-Series (E38 & E65) didn't have visible exhausts at all btw...
That was before the Europeans turned GAY, (no I'm not against personal preferences such as if you care fore dudes, its ok lol) but before the time was when Germans used to make brutal vehicles and now what I hear is that the manufacturers hire millennials with not so traditional view of surrounding to design cars. Just saying.
One of the most beautiful sedans ever made.

I own a E32 735 and with all this designing I can’t figure out how they forgot to design cup holders in the car at all 🤔

Because they wouldn't do something just for show. That's the beauty of these cars. The total antithesis with modern BMWs.
