Although I'm not a vlogger, I feel the pressure to achieve. I was is hospital for a long stay when I discovered CZcams with so many wonderful sewing channels. What I did not expect was the expectation of vloggers to achieve such massive outputs of garments - I call it 90mph sewing.I hadn't sewn a stitch, but still felt the pressure!
Please Claire, look after yourself - you're doing a fantastic job for your subscribers and followers.
You are a beautiful loving woman that encourages in such a beautiful way. I truly enjoy your videos, thank you for all your hard work.
Thanks Nancy!
The way you speak from your heart and give your time to encourage others is just so lovely. You are inspiring and selfless. Thank you 🥰 xx
Your enthusiasm and sincerity in wanting to build others up is so inspiring to see, and much admired. Thank you for making these very informative videos! 🌹
Ahhh thank you, yes I genuinely want to help build confidence in others 😀
Some great tips - Just started learning about Scrunchies. Made a few myself.
I can't wait until it is safer to have craft fairs again. I love the personal face to face buying and selling of crafts. I think I might be ready to go that route & sell some of my sewing, just to test things out. Thanks for the encouragement.
You’re one of the best and I love 💕 how you keep it real. I recently came across your channel and my hang up was because I’m disabled. I did see your other video where you discuss this further. Love your content and please keep the videos coming 🤗🤗🤗
After watching this video, Claire @Peguin and Pear, I'd click the subscribe button (if I hadn't done it months ago. Great advice about not under-cutting the market.
I joined a crafting exchange group. It’s been a great opportunity to try out new things and see what the recipients liked best. I even had one contact me and ask if I made a specific item for sale! That’s a great way to find out what others like best of what you make :)
Great advice!
Thanks for sharing your story and inspiration
Thank you so much for your inspiration. This is the first time I've watched your video. Sometimes I lack the motivation to sew and sell my dresses, bags etc. , when I know my products are beautiful, and that people will purchase them.
Thank you! You are inspiring me to try something. Not sure what yet, but something is going to happen thanks to you.
Thank you for this encouragement to sell my merchandise.
This rang true with me as my husband says I should sell but I never think I'm good enough - he pointed out that some people are selling things which aren't great, yet they obviously have no issue with promoting themselves. I also saw your imposter video which is basically me at the moment 😃
Have you looked at the construction & materials in so called "fast fashion" at the major discount retail store? It's sad. And they aren't made in our country supporting our own workers.
I might just have to send this over to one of my friends. She dove head first into sewing and making hats and bags and was thinking about selling things so this would be super helpful for her I think.
Ahh lovely. Thank you for sharing it.
Your videos lately have so much more energy. I'm liking it! Seriously, though, you are coming out with some great videos. This inofrmation is invaluable for people looking to sell their products. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you Susan. I try my best so it’s nice you recognised. Lol next one is a funny one 😂
Practical, sound advice, with great encouragement. Thank you!
Thanks
I just love finding you, all your ideas, and encouragement.
Another thought provoking video! Thank you for the inspiration to consider this possibility. I really had not considered it before watching this! Regards Christine 🙋♀️🇦🇺👍🏻😉😊🤗
Hello from Geraldton Western Australia
@@AnitaSouthall hello from Sunshine Coast, Queensland!
I love your videos! The imposter syndrome and self doubt is something we all deal with and to see you tackle it (and other issues like too many clothes in our wardrobe,) is so helpful! Thanks for being such an amazing influence!
Thank you!
Lovely video. My sister and I have a small business. Not sewing related. Last year all of our shows were canceled. But our Etsy sales went way up.
Very interesting!
Thank you, I know I can sew. It is just the confidence I lack.
You sound confident in your sewing. What area is it you need confidence?
@@Penguinandpear i just need to not worry about all the if and just be me.
Excellent video and advice. I am working out details for an online retail shop. So this is very timely. Thanks much!
My issue is that with my chronic illness I cannot consistently make product. Some months I can get a lot done and others I may make nothing.
I’m the same tbh. In that case just make what you can and sell that. Overtime you’ll build up inventory as you build your business and when struggling make quick and easy things if you can.
Marilyn- don’t let inconsistency stop you! I’ve found that some items I’ve purchased became more popular as they were low in availability. When the maker made an announcement that they would have new product out, it really drove interest in it!
Love your videos and love that fabric on you. Gorgeous
Thanks Diane
Great video
On your INVISIBLE vido. It's just great, i have all the time in the world to sew. But i tend to watch movies and you all on you tub. I can't figure out why i am not sewing all the millions of patterns i have, what is my problem.
I have a similar issue. I find myself less motivated this last year to sew despite having at least an hour or more almost every night. When my husband asked about it I told him I wasn't feeling the sew jo. I finally just went in last week and grabbed something that was hand work finishing so I could sit and work while we were hanging out. Surprisingly I have spent more time in my craft room this week than in several months combined. The other night I even forgot about the time and was up till 4 am. Lol
nice video
Thank you
U explained so much but could I though a few things out there that is stopping me from trying to sell.
Do u need to have a business licence?
What about being compliant with certain rules?
How can I make tags by hand? Do u need tags?
I'm just worried that these problems will hurt me. Some people might worry about taxes too. I'm not trying to b rude. I just would like to know if I'm worrying about nothing or if someone could help answer these questions.
Those things are outside the realms of this video. The video was more about overcoming the psychology of creating handmade to sell. Also the info you request will be different for every country and I’m not a financial advisor. Those are things you’d need to do your own research about.
Ty so much for ur help
You can order tags on etsy or even make your own with ribbon and transfer ink/paper. Theres tons of videos on youtube. If you're in the states honestly get a business license which is free but basically set up a business account and put all the money you spend on business expenses and earn from sales in only the business count and keep track of everything cost of fabric how much profit etc increase your prices or decrease after a few months and then at the end of the year pay business taxes and boom bonafide businesses
Ty Angela u have a lot of great knowledge.
👌💝💝💝👊😁😘
I like that you said "don't worry about the competition, just stay in your own lane." Truly, it's not about competition, it's about being creative. Competition is an old, destructive paradigm.
Yes!
