    I play vintage Yani sopranos and the tone on my horns is much brighter and resonate in comparison. I wish I could be closer to a dealer with these in stock to sample them. Sweet sounds.

    Dig the phrases you’re playing. Sounds like jazz skat singing on a sax. Love the tone of the bronze Yani’s. I have the AWO20 on order now.

    the wo20 has a better presence, when you payload it is a cleaner sound and on the quiet parts it holds its sound better.

    The bronze SWO20 sounds better there is an obvious sense of resistance probably caused by it have removable necks

    Why are the straight neck ones considered entry level professional sopranos.. Is it not a matter of preference between the curved and straight neck. The first soprano was a straight neck. also when you play both of them you are playing a straight neck soprano vs a curved one bronze one which will will be different in sound due to the curved neck I wonder how much difference the sound would be if you changed the curved neck to straight and played them again? They are both fantastic saxophones though

    • @truthfacts5438
      @truthfacts5438 Před 6 lety +1

      anything curved has a better sound, cause the sound waves bounce around more in the horn, as for straight horns they are flat, its like comparing a rifle and a shotgun, the curved is a shotgun, has a richer sound and bette r
      intonation.

    • @BlackWarriorLures
      @BlackWarriorLures Před 4 lety

      @@truthfacts5438 I disagree, my old Series III Selmer had much better intonation and sound with the straight neck. Anytime you bend a tube you run the risk of ruining the intonation and tonal qualities.

    Your sound on this is not so pleasant to the ears. You sound good on other soprano horns. May be you should remake some videos in the coming future with this same models, probably a different set up. Could be it was not a good mood to play the demonstrations of this horns. But overall so far you have done a good review jobs for other different brands and models.

    • @ghawk78
      @ghawk78 Před 6 lety +3

      Wow. To my ear he shows the flexibility of the instrument and I can definitely hear the core and resonance of the horn. I don't play with that same kind of "feel" to the sound but I do appreciate Jim's playing here. I think that it's an incredible jazz sound with lots of overtones and a wonderful sheen to the sound. Maybe you don't like that style of music.

    • @johnruffin3291
      @johnruffin3291 Před 5 lety +2

      Everyone is going to have his or her opinion on the horn. Some won’t like it because it’s not the brand they play. Some people will find something wrong with anything he plays. These people try to give you a comparison of different name brands of horns to help guide you in a direction. Stop beating them in the ground with your negative thoughts.

    such a great instrument and yoiu go and kill it with that awful "tune". what on earth were you thinking of.
