    You can get refillable spray bottles for oil you can use exactly the oil you like best and no aerosol propellant

    • @humanspecieseradicationmedia
      @humanspecieseradicationmedia Před 3 měsíci +5

      Yeah get a spritz bottle. You can place a bowl or something on the scale to catch the oil so it doesn't run, tare the scale, then count the number of spritzes for a certain amount of scale weight and do the math to figure out the nutrition per spritz so in the future you can just count spritzes and multiply by the kcal. In the future if you switch oils just repeat the process

      @@downbad4urdad Regarding modified wheat starch, which is a key ingredient in keto breads, there are articles suggesting that some people's bodies may actually digest it, so it may not actually be low calorie. I stumbled upon this information on a keto food blog however, so it's not definitive, but it's worth keeping in mind. I couldn't find any solid evidence either way though.

    Oh my gosh, I love the name "Schugga." Thanks for the diet tips, some real gems in here! I add both nonfat Greek yogurt and peanut butter powder to my overnight oats. With those in the mix, I don't need any extra protein powder unless I really want a ton of protein for some reason. Also, oil is one of the most important things to measure for sure, in my personal experience. Those calories add up so fast. I usually stick to 1/2 tablespoon (7g, 60 calories) when possible for things like salads and stir-fries. If I want more fat, I can toss in 1/4 tablespoon of butter for another 25 calories and some decent taste without going over 100 calories of added fat in the meal.

    Hey, I have bought your cooked book and have tried your buffalo mac and cheese, I think I must be doing something wrong, because mine does not come out as yours, mine looks more like the mac and cheese that is just above the buffalo mac and cheese in your book.
    Also, maybe you have mentioned this in your book but is it possible that you can upgrade the book, where you give the individual calories of each item that is added, that way it will make it a lot easier for people, to make adaptions, especially if they have a few more calories to work with than others. Thanks for all your content, I have been tracking calories for four months now and have seen a substantial drop in my fat weight. One thing that makes a diet feels less than a diet and also make it sustainable is when you enjoy what you eat, your book has been amazing by adding this to my journey., thank you for that.

    Tbf olive oil is pretty healthy despite the calories. Sure calories are calories at the end of the day, but some definitely come from healthier sources than others, so reducing the unhealthy ones is more ideal. You're probably better off reducing simple carbs or saturated fats instead of olive oil. Remember that calories≠unhealthy.

    • @user-vc9ij4su4e
      @user-vc9ij4su4e Před 3 měsíci +1

      Fats convert to body fat nearly 1:1 ratio, carbs at best 4:1. If your goal is stay lean, obvious route is minimizing fats to a required minimum.

    • @kallekillen2285
      @kallekillen2285 Před 3 měsíci

      @@user-vc9ij4su4e Not in a caloric deficit where they would be used for ATP synthesis. Here carbs would be more effective since they can be used universally by all tissues, unlike fats which first have to go through gluconeogenesis to convert to glucose, in order for them to be used in things like the liver and the brain. Fats also have a lesser effect in signaling pathways such as mTOR, AMPK, and Insulin/Glucagon, meaning they don't increase anabolic activity such as liposynthesis (fat production) nearly as much as carbohydrates do.
      Regardless, my comment was concerning health, where weight is only one part of the equation. Its better to have fat underneath your skin than to have fat in your liver. Since saturated fats and carbohydrates (particularly fructose) both increase de novo hepatic lipogenesis (fat production in the liver) while mono/poly-unsaturated fats decrease it via SREBPS, a diet high in saturated fats and carbs increase liver fat. This can lead to multiple metabolic diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and hypoglycemia. Since cholesterol is a lipid produced in the liver this would also increase de novo cholesterol synthesis leading to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, like a heart attack or a stroke.
      Even if dietart fats become body fat at a higher rate (which again is a simplification at best), I'd still argue that 5kg of subcutaneous fat is better than 1kg of visceral fat. When discussing health, the type of fat matters, which is where olive oil is advantageous.
      This is without mentioning polyphenols, isoflavones, antioxidants, and many other bioactive compounds with positive epigenetic effects. There is a reason the mediterranean diet leads to better health outcomes, and olive oil is a big part of that equation.

      @@user-vc9ij4su4e 1. Not every calorie consumed is stored as fat, most is used to produce energy which is where carbs are more efficient, partly because they can be used universally while fats first have to be converted into glucose through gluconeogenesis in order to be used to generate ATP, for example in brain and liver tissue. More efficient ATP production = Less calories used for producing energy = More calories left over for storage as glycogen or fat.
      Since glucose is a far more important metabolite in energy production, there are more signaling pathways which act on it. For example insulin/glucagon, AMPK, mTOR and ULK1. Carbs are very effective at increasing anabolic activity, such as muscle protein synthesis and lypogenesis (fat production).
      2. I didn't mention weight i mentioned health. Sure weight is absolutely an integral part of health, but it's not the only important factor. For example, the type of body fst we have makes a massive difference in health outcomes. Its better to gain 5kg of subcutaneous fat than 1kg of adipose fat. Carbs (particularly fructose) as well as saturated fats increase de novo hepatic lipogenesis (fat production in liver), this leads to increased liver fat which leads to NA-Fatty liver disease, Metabolic syndrome, hyperglycemia, and type 2 diabetes. Since cholesterol is a liver produced lipid, saturated fats also increase de novo cholesterol synthesis which leads to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and strokes.
      Unsaturated fats, both poly and mono, like those found in olive oil, decrease de novo hepatic lipogenesis, mainly through the release of Sterol Regulatory Element Binding Proteins (SREBP's). This means lower risks of cardiovascular disease, lower risk of diabetes, and lower risk of an early death.
      This us without mentioning all the polyphenols, isoflavones, antioxidants, and other bioactive compounds with poteintially beneficial effects on gutflora and epigenetics. I didn't even mention all the micronutrients stored in the oil, nor did i mention the lowering of inflammation through omega-3.
      Of course you can still have too much olive oil, and calories are calories at the end of the day, but where those calories come from and how our bodies utalize them makes a huge difference. Considering all the benefits, olive oil seems like a weird place to start reducing intake.

    My problem with fat reduced ground beef is the origin. The "Haltungsform" (which is a marker for the well being of the cattle) is always terrible for those cuts

    The "washing meat" part isn't really correct. Just skip the soaking in plain water part. Doesn't do anything for non-gamey meat. The only thing here that is correct is baking soda, which does tenderize the meat. You can wet brine or dry brine the meat with baking soda.

    • @humanspecieseradicationmedia
      @humanspecieseradicationmedia Před 3 měsíci

      Washing meat is actually worse, because instead of just having germs on the raw meat which will die when heated during cooking, you're now splashing germs all over the place, which increases cross-contamination

      It's debatable, also depends on the sweetner. There is some evidence of artificial sweetners hurting the gut flora among other things. It's better to avoid if possible, but almost certainly better than sugar.

    I am not a fan of him consistently replacing sugars with sucralose. Just heads up like this guy is trying to push people toward sucralose in high volumes over time, such as eating to replace each meal with it, has been shown to increase the risk of cancer in addition to raising insulin and causing inflammation.
