- Today, Architectural Digest is welcomed by Bryce Dallas Howard to tour her charming cottage in New York. Growing up in Connecticut and falling in love with her husband at NYU, the East Coast is full of happy memories for the 'Argylle' star, so it made perfect sense as a retreat from the LA working life. The couple had their hearts stolen by a quaint 18th-century replica cottage. Inspired by legends Jane Austen and Wes Anderson, Howard enlisted the help of designer and family friend Claire Thomas to brighten the previously dark interiors, injecting each room with vibrant colors and fabrics. But what makes the home truly special are the familial touches, from her grandmother’s extensive depression glassware collection to the piano she learned to play as a child. “In the end it became so much less about aesthetics and more about the place we spend our lives…It’s beautiful to be in a space where I’m able to dream about a future.”

No one gives this woman credit but she is insanely GORGEOUS.
She would be gorgeous in a movie where they actually celebrated femininity and domesticity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a romantic comedy that’s also a modern classic aesthetic of how some of us really do live. Her house reminds me a lot of my house. And I definitely don’t have the same budget as her, but our houses have the same look.
Actually the movie mom‘s night out. It’s not a romantic comedy, it doesn’t quite have the aesthetic I’m talking about, but it’s a wholesome mom comedy that celebrates domestic femininity and family love. We need more healthy movies like that.

I love Bryce’s style with each room having its own personality. Very cozy with simple lines, none of that over the top decor. I especially love her stove and her large chair to snuggle up in and read a book.

What I really love about this house is that it was remodeled while paying homage to the vibe of the house. It isn't my personal style, but I love how the integrity of the house stayed intact, unlike other houses where the souls are ripped out to turn it into something else entirely.

This is a nice, colorful and comfortable house with more books and records than tv screens. I like it a lot. Very personable host as well.
This is great! I grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and lived in a house exactly like this (in us the updates). Lots of history including a fireplace wall, hidden alcoves in the basement and along the stairwells, and 35 acres of forest to explore. An amazing way to grow up.

This house is adorable, it reminds me of my mother. She would decorate in pink and green, her favorite color combination. Some of my house now is done in these colors. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It's very soothing. My favorite thing in this house is the kitchen, I would love that much room to cook all my favorite dishes.
