We know that they have all new avionics, we suspect that the engines have been upgraded, and we also know that the AIM-54 has been upgraded. The assumption is that the Iranians had help from either the Chinese, the Russians, or possibly both.
The Iranians currently have the manufacturing industry to produce all the parts needed to activate the mothballed jets and keep them in the air, while also upgrading the entire fleet. It's unclear (at least to us civilians) exactly what kind of upgrades they have performed, but we do know the Saudis are very, very concerned. If all the reports are true, that would give the Iranians more than 50 advanced 4th gen aircraft that still have many, many hours left on their air frames.

@@Whiskey11Gaming There was an F-15C pilot who did at least a 12g Split-S in Desert Storm. F-15C is G-limited by the pilot, very tough airframe. F-14 had roll-rate induced engine failure limits that had to be observed by the pilot, as well as instability with nose procession and tail lagging that made it hard to fight. F110 fixed that though. Keep in mind these types of guns fights are handicapping the aircraft to a 1950s exchange, not the Fox 2 and Fox 1 fight that is more reality.

@@Whiskey11Gaming I read a story once of an F-15 pilot who got the ocean and sky mixed up, and realized his mistake from the pull-up cue, doing 650kts nose-down. He pulled the stick with his full upper-body strength and pulled 14G with an initial momentary 30G+ spike. When he landed, the wings had measurable dihedral that the airplane wasn't made with, and the upper skin was corrugated at the wing roots. The airframe was a total write-off but it was able to land. In this scenario it was said that an F-16 with its strict electronic G limiter would have hit the ocean.
The F-15 is a tough cookie. Compared to the Tomcat, the Eagle has a wider fixed wing root vs a narrow pivoting one, and has a lot less weight to heave around. Obviously it is possible to pull to hard and damage the airplane, but it's definitely going to stay flying after a little 11G excursion.

I think the tomcat should've forced more 2 cycle situations instead of escaping into the vertical since that's where the F15 really shines and should be avoided at all cost. Other than that the Tomcat did a really nice job but I think that you really should switch Planes after each round to get a better comparison between the planes and to properly visualize the strenghs and weaknesses of both planes

Also a good idea if you wanted to make some space if you were going for a fox-2.

Not even F-15E has fly by wire. A proper FBW system is present in the brand new F-15EX version, that will replace F-15C. This allows to increase available lift, a for the benefit of maneuverability, and also to unlock the external subalar pylons, previously unused because caused stability problems.

Awesome battle. A friend recommend DCS videos and this one, the first DCS dogfight video I’ve seen, certainly doesn’t disappoint. It probably helps that the aircraft I was rooting for emerged victorious. That being said, I was surprised how even a fight this seemed. The F-14 has very impressive long range capabilities, however, I expected the F-15 to have a more definitive advantage in this type of fight. Also, what is a “rate fight?”

Hello, welcome to the channel, thanks for checking out the video. Ps. I would love to see what you can do in the F-15 vs the F-16 in a BVR and also in a FOX-2 fight. Is the F-15 still relevant at all or did all of the improvements made to the F-16, together with the fact that the F-15 doesn't have datalink and only has a SFM, make it too much for the Eagle to handle?

I used to go to air and sea shows as a kid and would see both of these jets. The F-14 appeared surprisingly maneuverable for it's big blocky shape, but the F-15 was a little better at flying straight up like a rocket. It only took a few seconds for them to climb out of sight. I always thought the F-18 seemed behind them in vertical power but the lower speed stunts were certainly in the Hornets' favor. I remember the B-2 being loud as hell ironically but the B-1B was also loud. We never got the F-16 Thunderbird team at our show unfortunately. I've only seen the F-22 parked at the airport but I think it flies now in recent air shows. The A-10 once used its cannon on a barge to explode some targets, so that was cool.

In 1977 I was a young eagle keeper crew chief at Nellis Air Force Base when the ACEVAL/AIMVAL project was being conducted To determine the next gen AAM that eventually became the AIM-120 AMRAAM. The squadron commander of the 57th fighter weapons Wing, who was a great guy showed a bunch of us some gun film one time in the hanger of the F 15 going up against the F 14. We knew that ACM was going on between them because there was a squadron of F-14s on the ramp right next to our F 15‘s which was silver squadron of the 57th FWW. The gun film we saw showed the F 15A cleaning the floor with the F 14A almost every time. Less than a year later that squadron commander augured in with the commander of the base hospital in the backseat of an F 15 B That I had done and over G inspection on not even a year earlier. Very sad, But it was clear from the gun film that the F 15 a was the superior of the air 14 a in close air combat. The F 14 a was just too big and heavy and did not have the thrust to weight ratio of the F 15 a.
