On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Thank you guys for watching and if you have any ideas for future videos please put them in the comment section below and they might just end up in the pipeline, thanks again, much Love.
Can we get an f-22 vs su-25 vid?
fox 1 vs fox 3 fight?
@@ell8711that would be interesting depending on the fighters chosen for the match
I'm wondering what (if any) control input is required to utilize differential thrust in the F-14. Does a computer just figure out when to do that, or is the pilot required to pull a lever, flip a switch or say a prayer to the machine god?
Can you do a series of videos covering manoeuvres please, specifically transitions, 2 circle to 1 circle transitions, how to transition smoothly and cleanly. You seem to effortlessly switch between like moving into a roller, then back to a 1 circle.
*F-14 shakes uncontrollably* „ don’t worry she’s just a little excited“
I kinda wonder if the F-14 is the only plane like that or if it’s the only plane in DCS anyone bothered to model like that.
@JohnL2112 probably more common in old fighters. Now everything has electronic control surfaces, fly-by-wire etc that puts limits on the aircraft.
The F-14 really just does that though
"New Fanfic Catagory Created"
@@JohnL2112 some of the shake is a consequence of the wings not being fixed to the exterior body, but pivoted on a beam secured to the internal airframe.
The F-16 pilot must have missed that part in top gun "The hard deck exists for a reason"
Hey, he was only under the hard deck for *reads notes* the rest of his life
Couldn't be me, I'd fly any fighter jet like a commercial plane, safety first.
That sentence is really funny if read in a New Zealand accent
@@noahhastings6145 🤣🤣🤣
I see here is a written request to lower the hard deck.
I think the most impressive part of that maneuver kill was Jester staying in the Tomcat and not ejecting.
I think he left Jester back at the base - 10:35 - empty seat
@@capnron65 Yeah he definitely left his ass back at base 🤣
"Jester! We won! Don't eject! Please!"
"You're not on fire Ricky Bobby!!!"
😂😂
I know that more modern jets like the F-22 and F-35 are amazing statwise, but I just love how aggressive and violent flying the F-14 feels. It shakes and it rattles and it fights the whole time but it just feels good.
Is that what you call your wife? F-14? 😄
The F-22 and the F-35s are like Ferrari's, the F-14 is like a 71 Cuda. It looks mean as hell just sitting on the runway with its high shoulders
Yeah, it just feels so real. That and all the wear and shitty paint in the cockpit.
It should not be fighting you the entire time lmao
@@gh84475th graders
Tomcat putting in work and absolutely showing why you should never underestimate its capabilities.
14 destroys 16 if he didn't turn off g effects
every kill was due to pilot error on f-16's part though.
The F14 is such a beautiful plane. Never tire watching it.
Man, you make the best content bruh. I've been subscribed to your channel for around 2-3 years now, and every-single video has been of great quality. Thanks for all the effort you put into this GS!
Thank you for sticking with me that long and watching the videos much love.
I concur, the best DCS CZcams channel by far.
I´m not even playing DCS but i´ve been watching almost every video in the past 2 years or so...
@@GrowlingSidewinder I look forward to your vids more than anything else I subscribe to...and I have a LOT of subscriptions!
" @petersuchansky6703 "would be" 🤣
I know the tomcat is a big fighter/interceptor, but seeing it come around behind the viper ( @ 16:14 ) it looks absolutely MASSIVE.
Having stood with a Tomcat, and then sat in a (disembodied) F-16 cockpit (It's like sitting in a kayak - NO room to move!), the size difference is even bigger than that already convincing contrast shows.
The Tomcat is about the size of a whole-ass *tennis court*. You can park a viper in the space of roughly eight standard American parking spaces (two long-ways by four short-ways), excluding wing overhang beyond the blended roots.
The way they fly feels like it's appropriate to each, too. The Tomcat moves like an expert heavyweight fighter - nimble, still, but with heft and brute power. The Viper, on the other hand, seems more like a kung fu lightweight. Snap rolls, tight turns, and then supremely fast extends and re-commits.
Both are formidable, and I'm sad that the Tomcat will never fly again (because Iran still has some, and so long as they do making or trading in any logistical support for Tomcats is considered by the US too dangerous to allow). By the time the current security concerns are eventually resolved (status quo never holds indefinitely) I think all remaining tomcats will be too far gone to ever be resurrected.
I can only hope that maybe some of the Iranian examples still flying might, someday, leave that force and live on as the last survivors of their species in more peaceful hands.
Yep, reminds me of A-4 aggressors vs. F-14s in The Movie Which Shall Not Be Named. For those who don't know, the F-14's horizontal stab is essentially the same size as the A-4's wing. Crazy.
I love seeing video like this, reminds me of a tiger chasing down its prey.
It looks scary as hell coming round onto the little 16 like that. Like a huge hunting bird relentlessly pursuing a sparrow.
For that second kill 10:54 you actually hit the brakes and he flew right by. Maverick would be proud.
I came here expecting to see the Tomcat with maybe 1 win. I did not expect it to run the table.
This is proof that the pilot is the most important asset in a dog fight. GS is consistently fighting in planes that are inferior and in doing so, learns how to get the most out of each situation.
Oh the f14 is by far not inferior to the f16 they both have strengths and weaknesses to each other like he said the f16 is better in the 2 circle and the f14 is better in the 1 circle and the only edge the f16 has is the rate fight and thrust to weight
dude is scratching his head wondering what happened today. Can't discount the F14, it was purpose built, and it was built well. Still wish we'd seen the super tomcat
They are saving the super tomcat when we need her the most.
F-14 super tomcat not the plane we want it's the plane we need! 😅
The end of round 3 looked like an eagle (real eagle bird) diving on a sparrow. Absolutely awesome.
Awesome video. A masterclass in fighting your fight your way, not the way the other guy wants. As for the 'lucky' maneuver kill in the first round, you make your own luck. If he can't kill you fast enough that he ends up trying to force a kill at low altitude and ends up crashing into the ground, that's his problem, not yours.
yeah and it was some great low altitude flying by GS
Honestly that was almost entirely on the F-16’s pilot being wholly impatient: he had already achieved control position at GS’s high 6, but he tried to force the kill and ended up lawndarting when it looked like he would overshoot.
Is there a way within your CZcams videos that you can show throttle/rudder/stick inputs real-time? Being able to watch what you are doing with the controls to get the jets to do what you want them to do would be super helpful. Great videos as always.
This would be cool ^^
There's a little graph I've seen people use for this
Once again, Top Gun vs. Iron Eagle
Perfect embodiment of "the better pilot usually wins".
That first F-16 crash was crazy lol. Also thank you for your earlier video about the Tobii Eye Tracker 5. Just got it a few days ago and it has completely changed the way I play DCS. Love your videos and keep up the good work!
Earlier video? When was this, I’d like to watch it
That maneuver kill made my fricken day.
My first CO in a Tomcat squadron, had a brother that was the CO in an Air Force F-16 squadron. I got to ride brakes in it, when he flew in for our change of Command ceremony. Good memories of Mr. Campbell.
4:47 Jester looking over his shoulder blew me away, DCS is just amazing.
The F-16 driver must have the best pitcrew out there. Replacing that engine in mid flight... impressive. Good video. Cat vs Viper... always a good show
That first kill looked like that scene in "The final countdown" where the F-14 gets leveled and pulls up 100ft on top of the water :)
It helps that you are an outstanding "pilot", but it still amazes me to see what such a large plane can do. Variable wing geometry is an amazing thing.
"I wouldn't stray too far into that airspace, boys... that Tomcat driver's got talent. He used a mountain to kill the last Viper you sent out. Dead before he knew he was in danger."
Awesome one bro! I'm new on DCS and I'm loading up the F-14 and mastering it. It's my all time favorite plane in reality (F-4 a close second). Keep 'em coming!
God I love how the Tomcat shakes rattles and rolls
No computers there to smooth out its maneuvers, just a direct connection to the control stick. Makes for a lot of buffeting. But she'll do exactly what you tell her to without a computer in the way to slow down a maneuver if it thinks you're going outside of the envelope.
Man, you make the best content! I can’t get enough of how you dominate in the Viper but then you can fight it with anything else and beat it. It’s like the deck is stacked. Sweet fight!
That first kill was some Tom cruise pilot shit 😂
Target fixation is a killer he lost spatial orientation. The ground is your greatest enemy anytime you fly, you need to know where it is at all times.
I wonder if your opponent was a Mirage or Hornet main considering the amount of one-circle they were doing. In that case that specific individual may have done better in one of those airframes (or a Flanker). Going straight to one-circle all the time this individual was throwing away all their advantages in the Viper.
Nah, he was doing fine
@@mosquito7307he threw the fight away several times
Wow this is one of the coolest dog fight i have seen on this channel. Great stuff GS. Love you.
such a fun video to watch. that maneuver kill was the coolest thing ive seen in a while!
Well clearly that F-16 just did the classic Battlefield maneuver….repairing midair 🤣🤣
I'm so glad to see you take the Tomcat for the high overshooting. It was one of her strengths in dog fighting single engine fighters. Great job on the clean sweep.
Man, the F14 just tickles me in a special way. MORE MORE MORE! Thank you GS!
Congrats on 1.000 videos, that's insane!
PS: It's not the plane, it's the pilot :)
Your 1,000th video! Congrats! Love your content
Pure pilot skill my man - that second fight was epic! Absolutely loving all the Tomcat content lately
Amazing flying by my fav. pilot G/S, in my fav. jet, Tomcat ! I think the f16 got target fixation and trying to get you, he dove into the ground. The graphics here are simply stunning too. Go G/S, go Tomcatter's !
Your first rolling, flare popping, last second pull up kill was probably the coolest fucking thing ive ever seen. That shot was framed amazingly.
I must thank you GS. Your videos have not only inspired me but taught me what I needed to know I'm order to ensure that I never lose a dogfight against a Tomcat
It's not the plane. It's the pilot. Nicely done!!
Advantage Tomcat!
Great flying and another fantastic video demonstrating your skill against an (on paper) dominant aircraft!
Whoa! A hat-trick! Nice job. Wouldn’t have expected that. Hoped to see even one win for the T-cat. Bonus!
That second fight was so intense. Great flying to both of you!
Great content, new subscriber. I love fighter aircraft’s and you seem very knowledgeable and experienced with dogfights. Great work
Love your videos - Congratulations for 1000 of them now... Greetings from Germany ❤💙💛
Such a technical fight! Amazing. Loved seeing deflection as the rounds went past!
Reminds me of...."Oh, trees!" Too funny! That crash should be on your end of year montage.
amazing patience on f-14 as a DCS F-14 player should say
It's always fun to see the Tomcat hold its own against the F-16. That was some spectacular radius fighting. I'd like to see the F-15 do that! Great fight. Keep 'em coming.
You have to love the look of this massive predator flying in for the kill behind the tiny prey in the last fight. Just awesome visual.
Tomcat videos never get old! Outstanding content!
15:52 - *_"That thing will not fly with that kind of damage"_*
Me: *"I dont know GS. I mean he' grew another engine in the previous round. Maybe he could grow another wing 🤔"*
Fantastic video, love your content. Thanks.
Yo GS, nice match. Much props to the midget in the Viper engine bay getting that turbine swapped mid flight, the American equivalent to Sven banging on the viggen to fix that compressor stall. Thanks for the video. Great to see the Cat at it..."she will give it all to you even to the point of breaking its wings...you got to love that dedication."" Have a pleasant day. Cheers.
Great video as always GS
As much as i love the Tomcat, its mostly you winning those fights!
Working so hard to get the F16 to overshoot just to see him go around in seconds!
The speed regaining of F16 is insane!
Yeah, the Viper is a little monster - just going by the numbers it should've handed the F-14 its ass on a silver platter. Just goes to show that the pilot matters way more than the plane in ACM.
@@vicroc4in dcs 14 kicks vipers ass if you have g effects on in most scenarios. GS turns it off
@tmac2797 If it was properly modeled it'd be the other way around. The F-14 can dogfight, sure, but it wasn't necessarily built for it. Or at least not to the degree that the F-16 was.
@@vicroc4 in certain aspects for sure, everyone in the dogfight community knows 16 is underperforming and 18 is overperforming. It's unfortunately just the way it is rn
Sheer pilot skill in those victories(apart from the faceplant in R1)
Excellent flying Colonel Sidewinder.
4:40 Classic Tom Cruise move. Pull the stick back hard and let your enemy smash into the obstacle he was not paying attention to....
Every time with the F14 facing the F16 I can't help but think about "It's not the plane, it's the pilot."
u are a hell of a pilot! good job
Actually insane bro, well done
“Flying into a mountain side has proven hazardous to your health.”
Love these F-14 Tomcat vids! That's my bird since I was a kid and they were new. :)
And that first kill is exactly why the harddeck was set at 10,000 feet, Maverick!
Awesome video as usual❤🎉
it's not the plane, it's the pilot... maverick
I hope all our fighter pilots are as capable in their jets as you are in a simulator. You have a lot of great advice to offer.
The F-14 shaking reminds me of driving an M1A2 downhill at 50 mph
I'm an F-16, the greatest dogfighter of all time! Yeah, well I'm a mountain... SPLASH!
Love how in that first fight, you talked about how the tomcat will let you really throw it around, and that’s what ended up winning the fight
The channel is awesome by the way!!
Round one was crazy! I love manoeuvre kills, they’re so satisfying
The F-16 pilot needs to learn how maintain distance.
4:38 - GS: CALL AN AMBULANCE!
4:46 - GS: ...but not for me!
GS, thank you for keeping the Big Cat in action...
amazing fight, keep up the great content!!!🔥✈
OMG that crash on the hill was Hollyweird sorry Hollywood good
Great flying against that lawn dart GS!
5:14 I think the F-16 experienced the Fighter pilot symptom. It mean being so focus on the target that he lost view of everything else... separation, ground distance even, ennemy wingman if you had one... Pilots falling for that often crashed into they opponent, on the planet or were shot by wingmen. This could be a pretty interresting subject to learn about...
When you fly... alway keep your sight wide open !
Ahhh, I see...for the first round, you were about to force an overshoot (whether intentional or not...lol), and the Viper pilot seriously overcompensated.
Excellent dodging of those rounds he put to you
I agree the scale difference of the fight here is incredible.
One of, if not, the Largest Naval Jet Fighter
vs
One of, if not, the Smallest Jet Fighters
It's the Bruce Lee v Foreman the world never got to see.
The hard-deck for this op.... Never mind.
I like the F-16. But I really love the F-14! How many of us are here because we watched Top Gun in our childhood?
Thanks GS for the amazing videos you keep posting.
Awesome match as always.
GS in Round 1 like "I ain't heard no fat lady singing!"
Great fight.
Imagine if the F14 had been modernized and redesigned like the Super Hornet..
Would've been the best 4.9 gen fighter on earth.
The airframe itself still had a lot of life in it. The big problem was that the wing sweep mechanism was a pain to keep up, and that's not going to change no matter how much you modernize it. Variable geometry requires a lot of moving parts, and moving parts require maintenance.
The F16 player is probably still thinking; I should have did this so...
Good job as always GS.
Love it!
Thanks!
thank you very much
You are fun to watch and I am learning
Even the Viper can not save an impatient driver
Nothing sexier then a F-14 full spread in a banking turn.
Just subbed a couple weeks ago. You the man! My question is: are real fighter pilots pulling off the maneuvers you are?
That was some very impressive flying to say the least. 👏
When that Battlefield Theme kicks in!
Round two that F-16 pulled its secret trump card: the Swedish aeronautical mechanic named Sven. He just happened to be available to quick fix that engine. But even Sven cannot save a F-16 that is in pieces.
Maneuvering kill was awesome . Open wings, slow engines, F16 completely thought he was going to gun, then oh S….. mountain.
