It's there in the lyrics:
That's the story that our preacher told last Sunday
As he held that blood-stained bible up
For all of us to see
He said "Bless the farmer, and the teacher, and the preacher
Who gave this Bible to my mama
Who read it to me"
The hooker didn't get a cross on the right side of the highway because she lived. Having survived, her life changed and she read that bloodstained Bible to her son, who then became a preacher himself.
This song touched me because it shows how God does work in mysterious ways and wants all to come to repentance and have a relationship with Him.
EXACTLY !!!!
yes exactly
Amen đ
I donât understand how you didnât get it especially with all the times you went back and back
@@dougrandolpg7211 He's human. We're not all as perfect as you.
The farmer, teacher and preacher died. The hooked went on to have a son who become a preacher
@Amber Burris one way to play with his head is ask what happened to the 18 wheeler driver and the bus driver lol
Correct
Preach brother
@@amberburris5674 not sure he really did get it after all.
Thank you for explaining it to him. Sheesh.
I grew up in a household where country music was the norm, in the age of artists like Randy Travis, Kenny Rodgers, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntyre, and the Judds. And this song is one of the very few that just kills me everytime I hear it. (now excuse me while i go sob in the corner for a few minutes)
me too and ELVIS
Another you can add to that list - Alabama ; being the all time greatest country group. Their success even rivals and in some cases exceeds the success of some solo artists.
The hooker survived. She didn't get a cross because she lived and turned her life around. She then had a son who became a preacher.
Randy Travis has a huge catalogue of hits - you really can't go wrong no matter which ones you pick. "I Told You So" is one of my personal favorites, but also check out "He Walked on Water", "Diggin' Up Bones", "Forever and Ever, Amen", and "On the Other Hand". You won't be disappointed!
@@Rayzback Naturally! Wasn't trying to leave those (or so many others) out of the list. I tend to cut myself off if my reply gets too long *lol*
Point Of Light has been in my top 10 all time favorites of Randy's since it's release.
The song states in the chorus what it is about "I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, It's what you leave behind you when you go"
The Farmer - Left his Land, Crops, and home, along with Faith and a Love of Growing things in his son
The Teacher - Left their wisdom in those they they taught.
The preacher - Left his Blood stained bible in the hands of the Hooker...who read that bible to the Narrator of the story...Randy Travis's "Preacher" in the song
There are Three wooden crosses because the Hooker survived and raised a preacher herself while reading the bloodstained bible to her son.
The fact that you had to explain this simple message just does my head in. You know this is the second reactor I've watched back to back that couldn't figure this simple message out.
His voice is beautiful. It is really sad that due to his stroke he canât sing anymore but his catalog of music is absolutely amazing
Randy Travis has a beautiful voice. 1982 or I Told You so are 2 of my favorites. Unfortunately Randy had a very serious stroke. He can no longer preform as he did before his illness. Randy is a living legend
One of my favorites by Randy Travis â€ïž it brings tears every time, then happy tears in the end... In the song, it says the preacher laid that blood stained Bible in hookers hands, she went on to read it to her son. She survived the crash.... She changed her life going forward.
All of them died except the hooker!! The preacher gave her (the hooker) his bible before he died. She had a child and she read him the bible and he grew up to be a preacher.
I love that you went back and figured out what happened. You wouldnât believe how many reactors completely miss the plot of this song.
Deeper than the Holler, Diggin' Up Bones, Forever and Ever, Amen. Definitely need to listen to those.
Wonderful first choice. I told you so with Carrie Underwood Live. The farmer, teacher, and preacher died. It made such an impact on the other's life. She had a son that grew up to become a preacher.
You ALMOST had it. The hooker didn't get a cross because she survived. She went on to have a son who she read the preacher's bible to, and her son grew up to become a preacher himself. The first 2 verses are basically asking "why would God choose to save the hooker and let the other 3 die?", then the last verse tells you why, that's why words in the the last chorus change from "heaven only knows" to "now I guess we know."
đthank you!! I appreciate the encouragement
Lol, took you a minute. Preacher gave his Bible to the hooker as he was dying. She read it to her son, and he later became a preacher. Peace, Love!! Go Chiefs!
Country music storytelling can tear out your heartstrings
When you first hear this song and he says âbless the preacher, who gave this bible to my mama, who read it to meâ itâs that moment every time you hear this song. Thatâs it, thatâs the moment.
I love this era of country music with the story songs. This song slays me everytime.
I Told You So, and Forever and Ever Amen are both good ones.
The farmer, teacher and preacher all died.... leaving behind something valuable.
The "preacher whispered 'can't you see the promised land' " as he gave the working lady his blood stained Bible. That action changed HER life.
But at last Sunday's service the minister said " Bless that preacher WHO GAVE this Bible to MY MAMA who read it to me" ( and he grew up to become the preacher at the end of the song. ) the working lady met the preacher and then lived because she was meant to raise the next preacher.
The Hooker survived the preacher gave it to her as he died. She changed her life because of that Bible as she read it daily to her son. Her son then grew up to be a preacher.
Love it!! Deeper than the holler, forever and ever amen, digging up bones all good ones along with so many more
Great singer and song Randy had a marvelous voice.
Pray for Randy , he had a bad stroke a while back .He almost died. He is learning to talk ,Bless his â€ïž
The Farmer, Teacher, and the Preacher all passed in the accident. As he lay dying the preacher gave the Hooker his Bible and told her he saw Heaven. This changed the hookerâs life. She had a child and read that child the Bible the preacher gave her. That child grew into the preacher at the end of the song who was telling the story. The hooker was saved in the crash because she still had something to leave behind. She was changed so that she could leave faith behind in her son.
I have heard this long literally hundreds of times and i cry every time.
This was a great album. I wore one CD out and had to buy a 2nd one. The kids loved it! I heard this the 1st time at a Billy Graham Crusade and bawled. It took a while for me to be able to listen without crying.
the "young lady" changed her life and became the mother of the preacher telling the story
I remember when Randy surprised kane brown, and they sang this
I appreciate how you go back through it to figure it out. Itâs one of those songs not everyone gets on the first listen
i so miss Randy, he had the voice of an angel, till he had that stroke, and couldnt sing any more, its heartbreaking,
AB, please put George Thorogood on your list. I truly don't think you will be disappointed. You just make me smile at every reaction. Thank You...
One of the All time GREATS of country music
I recommend reacting to a Brad Paisleyâs official video of Waiting on a Woman. Any song from Randy Travis is going to be great. One of his best is Forever and ever Amen.
Randy Travis âForever and Ever Amenâ and âI Told You Soâ
She didn't leave a cross behind because she survived and was saved. She in turn read the Bible to her son who became a preacher. She left her former profession to start a new life as a loving mother who in turn led her son to do right.
I was in elementary school when I first heard this song. I loved it but I had to ask my grandma & cousins a question as she was driving us home from school when it came on the radio⊠âGranny, whatâs a hooker?â Long pause & my older cousins laughed nervously. I think she told me not to worry about it.
Itâs odd the things that stick with you lol.
Such a Great Artist & Song đŻâïžđ. RIP RANDY TRAVIS âïžâšđâšđ
Thank you did your perseverance to understand this song. Itâs so meaningful!
The hooked survived, the preacher left her his Bible. She had a son and read that Bible to him, he became the preacher at the end telling the story about the 3 who passed (the farmer, the teacher and the 1st preacher).
You have absolutely got to do He Walked On Water by Randy Travis. No one else else has reacted to it
lol. I have yet to see anyone react to this and get it the first time. Love Randy!!
Brother man⊠thank you so much for caring about figuring out the song. I have heard this song since I was young enough to understand English and I have seen so many reactions where people never cared to understand the concept of the song. I have watched so many reactions to this song where you could see no one understood the meaning by the words they said through it and at the end but you went deep and decided you werenât going to end the video just because the song endedâŠ. But you kept going and kept going til you found out the meaning. And even though you didnât get the meaning by the end of it, I respect you so much for trying. Keep on going brother man.. you have a heart of gold.
The preacher was the hookers son. ( we don't know if she was pregnant at the time of the accident or if he was born from one of her later excursions.) The hookers son grew up to be a preacher because the hooker read that "blood stained Bible" to him that was given to her by the deceased preacher. it's a redemption story for the hooker. Her son (the preacher) is what she left behind. When the 3rd chorus says, "now we finally know," refering to the three wooden crosses. This is Randy saying that God had a bigger plan for the hookers life and that's why the 3 folks died and she didn't. I didn't get this song until I heard it like 3 times, then I cried when I understood it.
Super bowl ready!!
This video is straight bullets from the first minute and appreciate you sharing it
Randyâs âMore Lifeâ is SUCH a wonderful & important song. He performed it live on his 25th Anniversary Special- ironically only months before a devastating stroke all but stole this beautiful manâs amazing voice from the world (but never count him down or out!!). Eventually- he and his wife did a documentary of the same title- âMore Lifeâ.
DEF check out the tune!
Itâs Just A Matter of Time, King of The Road (with Josh Turner), He Walked On Water⊠so so many fantastic tunes!
As always amazing reaction. This will definitely get the emotions goingđȘ
How can this be an amazing reaction when he has no clue what happened
He did but he was questioning it to much and confused the hell out of himselfđ€Ł just my opinion
@@christinecraig5 I don't believe he ever put it together that the preacher who told the story was the hookers son
The preacher gave his bible to the âyoung ladyâ who survived and had a child who later became a preacher. Hence to verse where he says âbless the farmer, the teacher and the preacher, who gave this bubble to my momma, who read it to me.
Please listen to "HE WALKED ON WATER" by Randy Travis. Great reaction bro.
Great call, Hector! That's my favorite song from Randy Travis.
Mine aswell ....appreciate the comment and like.
That one gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I grew up without granddads and so whenever I hear songs like this, I feel a big sense of loss for what I never had.
4 people were heading for Mexico seeking lost souls. The accident happened, the Farmer, teacher and preacher died. The Hooker didnât because she was pregnant. She lived, had a child who grew up to be a preacher as well. Thats why there are only three wooden crosses.
There was a farmer and a teacher, a hooker and a preacher in a bus crash. The farmer, teacher, and preacher died the three wooden crosses. The hooker was given the preacher's bible and then she read it to her son. The son is the preacher at the end of the song. That is why he held up a bloodstained bible at the end.
If you have ever seen a cross on the right side of the highway, you know someone passed in some sort of accident...if you see 3, then 3 passed...so there was only one survivor...start over and listen carefully, it's an amazing story.
He's my favorite country singer!!!! Thank you
Randy Travis is amazing! Give âOn the Other Hand,â âForever and Ever Amen,â or âDeeper Than the Hollerâ a listen!
Randy is one of my all favorites. If you like his story telling, check out He Walked on Water.
I told you so and on the other hand are two of my favorite of his
Honey i was raised on country music. I guess i needed a good cry today.
Check out , I Thought He Walked On Water" it is a great song, cry every time I hear it!
Can't go wrong with Randy Travis you need to check out....On the other hand....and....Forever and ever Amen..there both great song's, Thank you Sir for your reaction hope you have a blessed evening đ
RANDY TRAVIS is a legand.
Here let me help you the farmer , the teacher, and the preacher died that's why there are 3 wooden crosses the hooker survived and turned her life around having a son who grew up to become a preacher who showed off the bloodstained bible that the preacher who died gave to his mom as he said to her can't you see the promise land.
So the preacher died, and what he left behind was a change in the life of the hooker by giving her his bloodstained Bible, and she ended up having a son who became the preacher in the church that held up the first preacher's Bible given to his mother the former hooker, so that was the legacy of the first preacher, he changed the lives of others even though he died in the accident.
More Randy Travis songs I like are forever and ever amen and I told you so
Listen to more of Randy...sad story he had a stroke several years ago..
All his songs .... đ„
You're a hoot even when the subject is bringing tears to my old eyes.
âBless the farmer, and the teacher, and the preacher, who gave this bible to my mother, who read it to meâ
The âyoung ladyâ didnât get a cross because she was the preacher at the end of the songs mother.
She, the "young lady", was not the preacher, she lived and had a son who she read that Bible to and her son became the preacher at the end of the song
@@Frogr82 thatâs what I said, lol. The preacher at the end of the songs mother.
You did not get it!!! The farmer the teacher and the preacher died the preacher gave his Bible to the Hooker and the Hooker changed her life and raised her son for God and he became a preacher
Lol yes I am aware! Thank you
Heâs the Hank Williams Sr. of his era đ
"On the other hand" and "I told you so" are two of my favorites!! Randy Travis, can't go wrong!
You missed it!! Only three of the four died on the bus. The hooker survived! She gave the "blood stained Bible" that the preacher placed in her hands to her son who became the preacher who told the story. Go back and listen again. Great song!
You need to listen to Forever and Ever Amen
The hooker was the preacher's mother, it changed her life. She passed it on to her son as well as she read it to him every night. Building his future.
Hahahaha... Your thought process is so funny. Going over and over it trying to figure it out but still could not get it at the end. You tried though and that is good. đ
Listened to a lot of him growing up as my dad loved him. âI Told You Soâ, âForever and Ever, Amenâ , âDeeper Than The Hollerâ are some of my favorites. His duet of I Told You So with Carrie Underwood is beautiful
Iâm curious what you would think of Dwight Yoakam, another of my dadâs favorites. âYouâre The Oneâ, âAinât That Lonely Yetâ and âA Thousand Miles From Nowhereâ
My all time favorite artist as a child...until I found Joe Nichols! He has such depth and passion in his voice! You should listen to 'I Thought He Walked On Water.' My favorite song of his.
She did not die.She read the Bible to her son, who grew up to become a preacher
Hey bubby Randy Travis isn't a new artist! He has been putting the hits out for the past 30 years. Then he had a stroke and now he can't sing like he used too! But yeah I a fan and God bless ya for playing a awesome song
Farmer teacher and bus driver died... preacher and hooked survived
There is a big hint in the first part of the song concerning who died. The second stanza ends with, "It's what you leave behind you when you go". The very next verse tell us what three people on the bus left behind, so they are the ones that died. 1. The farmer left a harvest and 80 acres for his son. 2. The teacher left her wisdom to her many students. 3. The preacher as he was dying left his blood stained Bible to the hooker, with a promise of redemption. This is confirmed near the end of the song when a preacher is relating this story to his congregation, and reveals that the hooker was his mother, and had read to him from that blood stained Bible that the preacher on the bus gave to her.
it is clear if you listen to the lyrics. God is good!đ„°
Hey Sherlock: The hooker didn't die in the wreck. She gave that blood stained bible to her son who became the preacher who told that story at chuch.
Hott damnit!!!! Thank you lol⊠I tried to figure it out
Another great one to listen of his is "Whisper My Name".
You missed it. The Preacher at the end was the son of the hooker who survived the wreck. The bible he held was the one given to his Mom as the Preacher died. She went on to change her life and read that bible to her son every night.
The hooked lived. The preacher gave his blood stained Bible to her. She changed her life and read it to her son. Who became a preacher and told the story to his congregation âźïž
AB, RANDY TRAVIS HAS A SONG THAT I THINK YOU NEED TO HEAR. I'M NOT REAL SURE ON THE NAME. BUT I JUST TYPE IN MOMMA SONG, AND IT COMES UP...GOD BLESS YOU
You got it -- The farmer, teacher, and preacher died. The preacher gave the Bible to the hooker as he died. The hooker changed her ways, and read the Bible to her son, who then became a preacher and told that story to the congregation. (In the beginning, the preacher and hooker were both searching for lost souls, for different reasons.)
The farmer, teacher and preacher died so there was a cross placed on the side of the road for each of them. The hooker survived so she didn't have a cross; but she went on to read the Bible that the preacher gave her to her son who became a preacher himself and shared the story with his church.
The preacher telling the story is the son of the hooker who survived the accident. The farmer, teacher and preacher died but the preacher gave his Bible to the hooker who read it to her son who grew up to be a preacher himself.
Love your reaction videos. Very simple "Thats the story that our preacher told last Sunday as he held that blood stained bible up for all of us to see. He said Bless the farmer teacher and the preacher who gave this bible to my momma who read it to me." The hooker was the story tellers mother. Who became a preacher in part because his mother (the hooker) read to him from the bible that the dead preacher gave her.
The timbre of his rich baritone voice is unparalleled. My favorite Randy Travis songs are Reasons I Cheat; Promises; Take Another Swing At Me; This is Me; Look Heart, No Hands; Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man; Thatâs Where I Draw the Line; I Told You So; The Box; He Walked On Water; Three Wooden Crosses; Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart; Itâs Just a Matter of Time; On the Other Hand; and Forever and Ever Amen.
Iâve never heard this before . But you can bet Iâll be hearing it again, often .
Great reaction, I always enjoy witnessing you work things out.
Sebs Duran, reacted to this and he got it right away. It can be confusing if youâre not paying close attention. Thereâs a preacher in the beginning and thereâs a preacher in the end, but not the same preacher.
I am amazed and astounded at how many reactors cannot grasp this song. Unbelievably dense smh.
Oh ok, well Iâm trying my best sir⊠Also I have other reactions if your welling to give me a chance! Thanks đđŸ
@@ABtheKreator No problem. You seem like a likable guy. You aren't the only one that doesn't get this. AND doesn't get the George Jones "He quit loving her today" song. As to this song, get the lyrics and read them, slowly. It's one of the most tragic yet beautiful stories ever told by song.
@@MikeM275 Wow, Mike! Thanks for the tip! Maybe someday we will all be as perfect and intelligent as you!!!
@@PaladinAwaits You could literally be one half as intelligent as me and get this song pretty much instantly. So maybe someday you will be at least half intelligent as me. Hoping for your best!
The farmer, teacher, and preacher all died. Before the preacher died, he gave his Bible to the hooker. She ended up getting saved, and had a son, who is the one singing.
The young lady lived
The farmer teacher and preacher died. when the preacher died he gave his bible to the hooker. The hooker became the mother of the preacher telling the story.
Love this song & all Randy's songs are great. Love how the hooker was saved until she has something good to leave behind, which was her son the new young preacher, who retold this story. The original preacher gave her the bible that she gave to her son.
Read your comments and listen again!!!!
Big Facts đđđ
The three crosses are for the three that died in the accident, the farmer, the teacher and the preacher. Before he died, the preacher gave his Bible to the hooker, who read it to her son, who became a preacher. At the time of the accident, the hooker wasn't ready for heaven. The preacher's final act brought her Christ.
