This link will be official.
No names or prices have been confirmed yet, other than the postcard.
Tomorrow we will connect Stripe and we will need to get a couple of people to buy postcards, maybe 2-3 times. Your investment will then be taken into account when ordering the actual product.
You can register today and pay only tomorrow.
And enter your real data, because they must match the payer and recipient.
The system supports MAVLINK1 or MAVLINK2 bidirectional telemetry which makes it a complete solution for a quadcopter or fixed wing/VTOL. It also has WFB-ng link preinstalled and this means it has serious long range capabilities.

The ability to switch resolution and framerate on the fly is pretty nice you can chill at 4k while scouting around at higher altitude and switch to something faster when it is time to dance.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv how does this system work in relation to transmission of video feed.
>4 wires and ready!
>connects 3 wires pin headers and connects it to the FC offscreen
I was almost scared that we could have unedited footage!
Joking mate, love the work you and the gang is doing! Opensource, custom boards, a growing community - grade A achievents, cheers!
Actually if there were a JST UART connector and JST 5V on the FC it would be exactly 4 wires soldering job! There are plans for an OpenIPC GUI Configurator. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv please make any GUI crossplatform from the start to support macs
That is amazing! I have a feeling that this open-source project will do a huge impact for FPV in near future.
Can't wait to get this PCB in my hands!
It will be widely available soon. We are also going to release a single board version of that FPV camera. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv cant wait😯
Great progress.
Any info on the latency?
@@mariofpvIt's Amazing the size reduction of this project!
Will you sell It as a kit?
Where Will be available?
cant wait for the pcb board, when will it be out
My god, this looks so promising. We all know that the power of community is immense, looking at ELRS and other open source projects. I am so excited about this project, because DJI is ripping off people with overpriced and marginally updated products. Wish you guys all very best and hope you'll sussceed and bring reasonably priced and feature rich system to the marked 🎉
Cheers mate!😊🍻
This adds another excitement. I am following every bits and pieces of this project. Keep it up!!!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Incredible project. Amazing video highlighting hardware, features and integration into real build!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow, i will love to see this the number 1 digital system in year or two. Love your work mate🥂
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Brilliant! Fresh breath for fpv!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow...this is fantastic. Great work. I will be closely following its development and try to get my hands on it as soon as it is available in my area. Other Digital FPV systems are way to costly. This will be incredible for the community. All the best
Cheers mate!😊🍻
very excited to see all this especially the fast development
Cheers mate!😊🍻
This looks incredible! As someone who still flies analog I would love to give this a try first before committing to DJI or something. I always like to pursue Open Source projects whenever possible. HDZero just seems to be too pricey for what it is. Will definitely be keeping my eyes open for future updates. Great work!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Fantastic, brilliant, well done, I'm so interested,!Been following from the start, Can't wait to get mine!!!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Congratulations 👏👏. Absolutely fantastic work.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Hi Mario found this after your reply, wow this is exactly what i need for a digital 3.5" Cinewhoop build to use with my Ruby HD ground station 😃😎
Can't wait until their available!😎
Yes they will be available soon. We are working on it. Stay tuned. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv 🤓🥰 Great news!
very impressive! I am super excited to follow this journey! We need more innovation and open source disruption in this space.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
First time I saw the project I think in 20 months it will have big impact on digital fpv… I was wrong, the revolution will come in less time! Compliment! 🎉🎉 You have to find some brand that believe in the project and start building new hardware for you!
It’s already done but I can’t tell anything yet. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv do you need more people to build hardware?
Yeah I’m ready to dump Walksnail junk
I can't wait to buy this!!!
Will be available soon. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Thanks! Making an FPV is possibly next side project. Today finished building an oscilloscope...first oscilloscope I have ever owned.
Let us know if you need any help. Our dev team is on Telegram. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Thanks! @@mariofpv
Amazing project. I gonna order it when it's avaiable:)
I have spotted a few improvements so once we add them it will be widely available. Cheers mate!😊🍻
I'm impatiently waiting to buy this.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Great work! ❤
If I knew you were making this I would not have bought the camera/Wifi unit 2 months ago 😂
I think it will make a good surveillance camera though.
Next year we will probably be having a 4K60fps OpenIPC FPV camera available, lol. 🤣
Cheers mate!😊🍻
It is very impressive! Great job!!!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow, amazing, keep it up Mario 👍
Thank you for all the support my friend!😊🙏
Amazing!
holly crap, this is awesome!!!!!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
This is so fkn dope! Let’s go boiiii!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
my man is doing god’s work. Nice job!
Not God’s work but yeah, we are improving our hobby. Cheers mate!😊🍻
This has certainly got my attention.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
That is a fantastic HD FPV solution. I had the same idea of making similar MIPI camera with this particular ipex cable. But for air unit I plan to use AMD Kria K24 as it can potentially absorb also flight controller and motor control subsystems.
That would increase the total cost. One of the high priorities of OpenIPC is extremely low cost so it can be affordable to all. Cheers mate!😊🍻
This is fire, have a beautiful 3inxh quad frame designed specifically for dji air unit. Nuh uh, I know what's going onto that build
Cheers mate!😊🍻
WOW... go for it man!, I hope you can give the alternative solutions to FPV Video Transmitter, that currently being dominated. GO!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wooow this amazing 90fps
Cheers mate!😊🍻
The locked Mipi is great too
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Thank you for doing and sharing this! You've inspired me to buy myself a setup and to start to live the openIPC way of FPV piloting :)
Cheers Mate!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
I saw when you introduced your science amazing to see it works now all f… great
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Seeing lot of ads on your videos, that is really very good for you, keep it up 👍
Looks so promising. I think it will made a same impact on fpv as elrs.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Great job !!!! In the future, it would be great to have an app with a simple GUI to configure the camera and have an RX module with HDMI output so it can be used with existing FPV goggles. I would also like to see how it behaves with obstacles in the middle such as walls and trees.
For the ground station (vRX) it's pretty common in the openIPC community to use NVR Boards which do support HDMI out. So this point is already made. For obstacle avoidance you'll need more sensors on your drone and a FC which supports them, but I'm no expert in this kind of things.
Sounds like good idea , probably during the summer I will get my hand deep in C# for cool app
@@addicteddev6343 I was talking about the signal penetration
@@addicteddev6343 i think he means how the interference is or if it lags with obstacles such as trees. I'd like to know too, as little of my flying is in open spaces and I hate lag
@@stroomkrooma ah yes that makes more sense. That's something I would like to know too :)
great, 👍👍
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow!
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Hi Mario this is amazing work, is this hardware opensource aswell? like the one in your previous custom OpenIPC hardware videos?
We will see. It’s too early to say because first we need to perfect it. This is the first version of the hardware and I have already spotted a few improvements. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Thanks for this. Great video, shows the size perfectly.
What options will there be for the vrx end in terms of making it small enough to be goggle mountable?
Check out my previous VRX video tutorial. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Really fantastic. Please include the latency values with these videos.
FPS is the latency and 120 is damn fast that’s 120 frames per second
@@carbonEYE007 FPS isn't latency.
I have already done that in my Community section. Check them out. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv ok thanks :)
Super awesome! Can't wait for the product to be available!
Would it be possible to get the PCB's in black instead of green? 😇
The single board version that is coming in a couple of weeks is black. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Nice! 😄
Hopefully there'll be a big stock 😋
Would it be possible to add a longer mipi cable so we don't have to move the fc/escs?
Nice job, Mario. Already ordered parts to do a
The cable I use is already long enough to be on the back of the drone. I also have a much longer cable though but I didn’t use it. Cheers mate!😊🍻
The lower bandwidth in the future are very interesting.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Fantastic. When might we see the single board version teased in the shorts? Have you got a link to this (or any OpenIPC hardware) operating at 120fps? I understand the NVR (ground station) can only display 60fps. Can it receive @ 120 and display @ 60, at least for demonstrative purposes? What is the plan for a 120fps NVR, is there such a thing already in existence (other than computer with 120hz display)? I see Petru (developer of Ruby FPV) has released a version of Ruby that can talk to OpenIPC camera/TX (with basic functions). I also see that the latest Ruby can enable re-transmission of lost/corrupt data for stream robustness, though not with an OpenIPC camera/TX. Do you think that OpenIPC will one day be able to enable this option?
You can’t encode 120fps and decode half of them. I hope you understand that. We are looking at some NVR that can decode 120fps but then you would need goggles with 120Hz display panels. The current working solution is an Orange Pi 5 and a portable 120Hz monitor. Petru is a very skilled developer and I’m a huge fan of him. You need to ask him about his plans for OpenIPC and RubyFPV combinations. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Thanks for replying. Interesting stuff. Cheers
Just amazing. how about using pins to stack the boards together instead of jst connectors to avoid cables?
Such stacks are mostly less reliable in-flight due to vibrations than the crimped or zif ones
Yeap. JST is the way to go if you want to avoid soldering. Cheers mates!😊🍻
Very impressive , I have no words .
Have you measured the latency and what is the max range with omni antennas ?
We have already posted latency results on the Community section. The max range of WFB link is 100+km. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Great project man!
And about the ground receiver how does it works?
There will be a receiver with hdmi output for screens and goggles?
I have already posted a video tutorial for the VRX. Check it out in my playlists. Cheers mate!😊🍻
hello @mariofpv, i am a big fan of your channel, great work! i am also considering developing a standalone open source hardware solution for the video tx/video rx based on the imx8-mini processor from NXP, the point is to be able to plug in any MIPI-CSI video sensor and have it transmit over 5.8GHz using wfb-ng. Do you think such a hardware project would benefit the community? Do you have some requirements that would make such a project stand out vs the already existing DVR solutions from OpenIPC? thank you!
Hi mate. Personally I would try your hardware as long as it’s inexpensive. I am sick of FPV systems that cost 400$-500$. Cheers mate!😊🍻
There seems to be some space left on the WiFi PCB. Maybe you can add a capable BEC to it to rule out that source of errors as well!
That would add additional heat. We don’t want that. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Mario you remind me of Palmer Lucky. Founder of Oculus. The way he was just dude buying cheap commercial off the shelf products and building better devices than the big companies.
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow! Best ever for now...
Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv This is so promising that it can be compared to switching to lithium batteries...
@@mariofpv And more - ll wires are black is that so fashionable?
Plus and minus should be different at least? 😀
Hey Mario, I want to see and hear you, man. I love this stuff, open source free software FTW, buf the music puts me to sleep, and I want to get to know the man behind the videos. Don't be shy.
Sorry mate but I’m not talking again in my videos. I tried it in the past and I received some negative comments. Cheers!😊🍻
@@mariofpv Que triste! Hablar en Espanyol con subtitulos en Ingles - todavia comentarios malos, pero fuck the haters, stand strong and be yourself. If your English is weak and you're shy about it what better way to practice. I'll monitor every video and brutally shut down anyone that gives you shit if you want. Offer stands. With love, un kiwi far away.
Hopefully Open IPC will support Caddx Tarsier 4K
Sorry but we are not planning on supporting this camera. Cheers mate!😊🍻
This is amazing stuff! I’ve seen a couple videos on this but I’m curious to know what you use for the goggles end? Have you made a vrx you can put into goggles using a usb or hdmi? Thanks!
Yes I have posted a video tutorial for my VRX. Check it out in my playlist. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv Sweet!! Thanks bro! 💪💪🤜🤛
This looks super fascinating. What are the options are the goggles end? Or can you only use a monitor?
You can use any goggles with HDMI in and the recommended VRX. I have already posted a video review. Check it out in my playlist. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Wow! Great work! Do you have this WiFi card available for sale?
Not available yet. We have spotted some improvements are we are now working on them. There’s also a single board coming soon. Stay tuned. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Very impressive, any timeline on when this will be available to us mere mortals?
No timeline yet. We will announce more information soon. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Hey there!
Got a few questions about your awesome project:
Any chance of swapping the 1.2W amplifiers for 2.5W ones? I'm eyeing it for my long-range FPV drone. OpenHD is fantastic, but a bit bulky and a bit of a headache to set up. Plus, the SBC requirement for the Air Unit is a downer. ;(
How about adding support for 2 (or even 3) cameras? Analog systems allow for multiple cameras with a simple $2 board switch, which is a big advantage over digital. Any plans for that?
Excited to get my hands on this! When and where will it be available for ordering?
Cheers from Canada - keep up the great work!
Our main goal is to have a compact Air Unit. Higher TX output will add more range but for small quadcopters it’s unnecessary. Also the dual camera is for larger planes. For that we already have the larger cameras as an option which is working great. You can switch between the two cameras with just a TX switch! Check out our Telegram channel for more information and photos. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Very nice. Why not using plastic screws on camera?
I have already replaced them with plastic. Shaved off a few grams. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Perhaps a stupid idea, but... If you already have wifi connection to the camera, wouldn't it be better to also use it for the signaling to flight controller and downlink from the controller using UART? You would no longer need the antenna for the flight controller, only the wifi antennas. Majority of transmitters have "USB-training mode", which you can then use to connect to the same PC showing the camera feed and send it back to the aircraft...
But perhaps this might not be the best idea...
Anyhow, amazing piece of work, real respect!
This alredy done
Cheers mate!😊🍻
I think I will stick with ELRS. Also Open Source and reliable.
@@David-ty6my would be cool if you could do mavlink over the wifi
Great job. 2s li ion powered? Total weight with the battery is sub 250? Osd it's possible? Thanks
3S is the minimum I tried. I don’t know about 2S. I don’t even have a 2S battery. I have OSD while flying but not on the DVR recording. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Question: Is gyroscope data recorded to stabilize video in GyroFLOW? Small drones do not have an SD card on the flight controller, is it possible to write data to the camera's SD card?
No telemetry is recorded. I haven’t tried to record on the SD card of the Air Unit yet. I’ll test it someday when I’m free. Cheers mate!😊🍻
i am wondering if you need to use the pi mipi camera with its ribbion or can we solder a usb camera with a higher MP to the board or would that cause latency in the video vtx
None of this that you described is possible because the MIPI cable we are using is for OpenIPC cameras specifically. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv since the product isn't available I was hoping to follow the process best I could with a RPI on the air unit. but most rpi cameras are bulky so I was curious if I could make a digital system with a usb camera
Is it available for ordering? Nice job
Not yet. Will be available soon. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Can you get the OSD from Ardupilot/INav/Betaflite flight controller on there?
The OSD is on the Ground Station, not on the camera side. Therefore you can have any customised OSD on your Ground Station. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@mariofpv Great work awesome looking hardware what about using the sd card to upload software to camare and wifi? Can the board connect via usb rather than ethernet
Yes but you still need the Ethernet connection to transfer the drone.key file. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Its looking pretty tidy compared to the old days. That MIPI cable is not going anywhere why haven't we been using that connector all along?
Cheers mate!😊🍻
Are you recording h265? If so, how difficult was the required licencing from the 4 parties to obtain?
Yes I’m recording h265. I don’t need any license since it’s an open source project. Cheers mate!😊🍻
will there be a video soon of the black one in the short you posted? Is the black one connected to an external wifi nic like the green one in this video or is it all on the one pcb?
Yes new single board will be available soon. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv exciting stuff, I hope it is also 1.2w
0:16 Looks like there is a short circuit of solder on the left side of the big chip.
That’s a prototype. I’m testing it and so far it’s working fine. The production camera will have no defects. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Great project! Is there any chance to move from MIPI to HDMI input on VTX? This could unlock option to inject Raspberry between a camera a VTX.
No because that would increase the latency dramatically. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv High latency may be ok for lang range
You would still need to create the drivers for the HDMI interface. It’s not that simple and probably very few people from our community would actually use this feature. Personally I have as a priority the lowest possible latency so I can enjoy flying and doing sudden manoeuvres.
Big Thanks for mario bross 😊
Cheers mate!😊🍻
5.8GHz!
Yes, 5.8GHz band. There will be a new model with dual band 2.4 and 5.8. Cheers mate!😊🍻
@@mariofpv my control is on 2.4ghz so 5.8 is good

Yes you are right. I need to replace the lens. The corners are also blurry. That’s because the sensor doesn’t match with the lens. But that’s easy to fix. Cheers mate!😊🍻
It is absolutely stellar. Thank you for all your Work. Do you know why the reviews of madstech and Currykitten regarding latency testing ist still pending?
No idea. Maybe you should ask them directly. Cheers mate!😊🍻
any chance to see schematics/pcb for improving the hardware?
Please contact me on Telegram if you know how to improve PCB. Cheers mate!😊🍻
Could I use this for more fast pace freestyling? or is the latency too high?
