      Do you think that the GV60 install should be about the same as the Ionic 5? I’ve walked away from an unlocked car one too many times.

  • @robertblock

    You pretty much nailed it! I also like the “twin displays”, you don’t have to look down to your right at an iPad and take your eyes off the road. Also, it has the right amount of controls so that you don’t have to use the touchscreen if you don’t want to learn. Someone can just jump in and drive it without having to learn multiple steps in the touchscreen.

    1. Effortlessly Accelerating
    2. Spacious Interior
    3. Phenomenal Styling
    4. Spectacular Heads Up
    5. Stellar Charging
    Every vehicle has drawbacks (I can list five) but the IONIQ 5 good so far out weighs the negatives that it’s a no brainer repeat purchase. 10:22

  • @axion8788

    Good list of major advantages.
    There are quite a number of other features I got with my 2023 LTD -
    Automatic retraction of the seat when the door is opened making it so easy to get in and out.
    3-level heated and 3-level ventilated seats
    The extraordinary lane centering and cruise control. I always have lane centering on cruise is on about 95% of the time, city and highway.
    3 odometers with each with its own distance, time and MPK: Every drive, Since recharging and Cumulative.
    When you adjust the headlight settings and/or wiper settings it shows the status on the driver screen.
    Really comfortable seats.
    Very good MPK.
    Heads-up display!
    So add it all up and you get a really great EV.

      That’s what I put in one groups as”bells and whistles”. One of the reasons I’m probably passing on the Y despite the price. Really no luxury features. I’ve always compromised on the trim but by golly, this time, well this time I want it all!

    #6 for me is the seamless (wired) support for Apple CarPlay. I’m probably biased by the negatives of previous things (cars, jobs, houses, whatever) but I’m constantly debugging the broken Bluetooth connection in my wife’s Mini Cooper. In the Ioniq 5, I say “hey Siri, play ” or “directions to J&C’s house” and it just works.

    Thanks for one of the best EV-reviews so far! Being a Norwegian I've seen and tested a lot of Ev's. In Norway total sales of new cars, Ev's exceeded 90% Personally I'm still on a hold, driving my Crv 2015. . I'm hard bargain when it comes to cars and particulary Ev's, but now you have convinced me to test the new Ionic 5👍

    All good points that I can pretty much confirm! As for your reason 3, I'd just as soon have minimum and maximum (i-Pedal) regen settings, and I wish the latter would remain set after I turn the car off and then start it again. Now I'm curious to know your 5 negative reasons (likely not having a rear window wiper is one of them, but the digital rear view mirror in my Limited eliminates that complaint). I will admit that one important feature it lacks is a dedicated, one-button engaged DOG mode. Using the "utility" mode works, but… is difficult and cumbersome.

    Thank for all of the videos on your channel. I just took possession of my 2023 Ioniq5 Limited and I love it! I'm driving back from Florida (where I purchased it) to Texas. Quick question... I'm thinking about setting the SOC percent to 85 while driving the distance then set it back to 80 percent when I get home. Am I gonna ruin anything by doing this? Thoughts?

    It's a blast to drive, looks good in the parking lot, and there are pretty good deals out there for those considering one.
    Just make sure you do your research on what affects range for EVs and I would very recommend installing an EVSE at your property to charge overnight at home as that to me is the greatest benefit of owning an EV.

  • @ChuckvdL
    @ChuckvdL Před 3 měsíci

    Firstly it’s hard to argue with your top 5, and I feel they apply equally well to sister and brother vehicles as well (style preferences obviously differ, but we get such a great variety of styles between the I5, I6, EV6, & GV60 instead of the same egg shape just resized.
    What I’d add,
    6) V2L powers my critical stuff during power outages, or powers blenders or an oven when tailgating or power tools anywhere I can take the car.
    7) wired CarPlay is solid and doesn’t cook your phone like most Qi chargers do.
    8) love having physical discrete controls for climate, and other frequently used controls. Far less distracting than taking my attention from the road to use a touchscreen while driving

    @jamesphillips2961 Před 3 měsíci

    I test drove this a couple of weeks ago, really liked it, especially the regen paddles; it is like downshifting. But I have a question about efficiency vs a Tesla M3. The I5 AWD outweighs the M3 LR by about 500 lbs, and it doesn't seem to be much smaller at all. I know the M3 uses 18" wheels, the SEL 19" . But what else counts for that big weight difference?

  • @MrBucko1990
    @MrBucko1990 Před 3 měsíci

    1. Charging speed and curve
    2. Price to feature ratio vs competition at the time. Since upside down due to price cuts elsewhere and spec downgrades by Hyundai
    3. Styling and less of these on the road generally makes it stand out.
    4. Had the classic Ioniq 28kWh for 4.5 years before and loved it
    5. Boot, interior and trunk space as had a baby on the way at the time to buying
    6. It was well received by reviewers across the board. When Bjorn Nyland was also one of these I was sold (he was the reason I picked 28kwh Ioniq in 2018 also).

    Here in Europe you can get it with a 58kWh pack which has a peak charging capacity of 176kw. Has the same 10-80% time as the larger pack with higher charge speed. This speed and more importantly the charge curve is why I bought the smaller battery and saved five thousand. I only need to road trip a few times a year so not worth the extra money. This was a huge factor in my purchase decision.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  Před 3 měsíci

      It's the full horn. You don't have to use the auto-unlock setting that does this though. The device was designed for auto-locking and the auto-unlock is just an added benefit.

    • @KiaHyundaiEVPlatform

  • @ChuckvdL
    @ChuckvdL Před 3 měsíci

    There’s one additional regen trick you missed. _Max regen_
    Holding down the Left paddle engages _Max_ regen mode for however long you hold the paddle, then returns to whatever level it was set to after you release. That mode is equivalent to full I-pedal regen, effectively _level4_ regen. It’s useful if you are not in I-pedal and want a quick burst of maximum regen without having to hit the brake pedal.

    Looks, comfort, the smoothness of the drive, interior, and yeah, that GO factor. I live 12 miles out in the country from my dinky small town on what is mostly a two-lane highway. And hilly, so there are only two stretches where one can pass legally (and no shoulders on the rest of it as it cuts through those hills). Speed is 60 mph. Locals usually drive 65-70, because, Texas. If I am behind Grampy McGrampster driving 48 mph? BOOM. Pop it in sport mode and I am back to average driving speed. My real only dislike (I'll save up for next week): the nicking from road dirt and gravel on the silver-tone plastic bumper and trim areas. Mine is only 8 months old, but that is gonna look like hell in another year.

      An EV is a good buy when you charge it at home. Local fast charging stations are useless when you charge at home.

    • @ChuckvdL
      @ChuckvdL Před 3 měsíci

      For the most part my advice is don’t buy an EV if you can’t charge where you park. That might be at work, at a park and ride, or at a home or apartment. If your daily miles are under 30-40 a standard 110v circuit may suffice. You REALLY don’t want to depend on DC fast charging for day to day use in most cases, mostly because of the higher cost. The exception might be if you can combine charging and grocery shopping and don’t mind paying about 3x your home electricity rate.
