They ARE insanely underrated. I just happened upon them in concert at the Iowa State Fair about 6 years ago. They absolutely blew me away. And it was on a free concert stage. Can't wait for a chance to see them again
as a guitar player, the guitar is clearly insane... but Jojo's base playing has always stuck out to me because it adds SO much to the sound. Really like a Base and a rythm guitar all in one.
Los Lonely Boys are one of those bands I forget about constantly. Their "top 40ish" hits like Heaven are great but when you get in to the rest of their stuff it's like a whole different level. The whole band is just badass.
I didn’t know who these guys were when they played Willie Nelson’s picnic in Austin. They were unannounced surprise guest but thrown up after all the other heavy weights and just before Willie. I thought “WTF?” Why are these guys who I’ve never heard of put into this slot. When they hit the stage my jaw hit the ground…..and stayed there. They blew me the F away! Thanks for covering one of the most underrated guitarist ever.
Henry does what he wants ..so when you say he's wandering nobody taught him this. They have played together as brothers since children. AND WON GRAMMYS DOING IT!! These are my friends. The best. Los Lonely Boys
Mike I'm 75 years old and I've listened to the Lonely Boys years ago. They were just tadpoles playing country with their dad.! One of the best bands ever.!
Glad you're doing Los Lonely Boys. Been into them since I saw a TV special featuring them and Ronnie Milsap. I know this is guitar focused but the drummer and bass player are always cooking.
Hey bro i like the way you do your videos..I've been a guitar teacher since 1980...I also have a studio, play in a band in Central Texas and also do sound for over 1000 clients state wide..and also produce the best Americana show at SXSW in Austin..but I was the sound man for Los lonely boys 5 years ago..Henry and the brothers are great musicians..some of the best times I ever had..if your ever in Texas and I'm sure your in a band or two..Look me up....keep up the good work.. Roy. Sound-Station Studios.... Facebook
These Texas boys really rock...I agree that Los Lonely Boys are underrated. Thanks Michael...I really enjoyed your course and analysis of this jam video...this is what I am missing in my guitar knowledge...well, that and so much more lol. Anyway, I'm a research analyst and I have so much to learn, so I'm in favor of deep dives and longer vids when appropriate. You have a wealth of knowledge...thanks for sharing brother. I am guitarless for the next cpl weeks but will def look at your courseware. Thanks again for sharing. Great analysis.
YES Michael! I can’t believe you did this song. I love “How Far is Heaven” and I stumbled across this one on a CZcams rabbit hole. It’s one of the best live performances from such an underrated band. You’re fantastic. In the Process of moving into a new house but once the dust settles I’ll be signing up for your classes.
That looks like Reese Wynans (SRV and Bonamassa) on keys. I would be up for the long version. I'm an intermediate player/hobbyist and I'm stuck in the pentatonic so learning how to embellish would be wonderful. I love knowing the theory but I especially love being able to apply that knowledge in real time in a the context of a song. That's what I feel like I'm getting in your vids so thanks, appreciate it!
Thanks for breaking down the chord progression and leads. Would be nice to continue sharing the rest of the song. One of my favorite bands. 3 brothers who backed up their dads band until they got a hit with “heaven”. Last time I saw them they were in concert with Los Lobos and Ozomatli here in the Central Coast in Cali. Thanks Mike. Blessings to you and your family:)
I’m all for the deep dives. Short videos are great but these guys have put their whole life experience into this song and has such really deserves a deep dive. As do all their songs. I realize there’s time restraints and attention spans to consider but yes, deep dive baby.
Dude I absolutely want to see deep dives on blues man!!! My heart is always drawn to blues from its core of Robert Johnson to Gary Clarke jr to everyone in between especially these guys!!!
could you do a video on the Phish playing "Ya Mar" live at Clifford ball? At about half way Trey Anastasio does a brilliant improvised solo that I would love to get a better understanding of. thanks
I love your post. I love the Los Lonely Boys, and I think your approach is very helpful. I ahve been playing for about 46 years, but off and on and on my own I cannot make the transition from a good player to a great player. Thanks for showing if you have some skill, you can actually be great.
Wow michael. I am impressed. Great video!!! Your definitely skilled and I'm amazed at how you can just be like " oh that's a fifth chord. And here is the 6th of the four chord." You have talent my friend. I'm really taken that you've never heard of these guys. They are greatly inspired mostly by SRV but and eric Clapton and similar guitarists. Check out most of their live at the Fillmore concert. I aspire to play like them some day. PS. I'm always eager to see your next lesson videos. Thank you!!
I guess its late for the comment but i'd like to see longer videos even tough these are awesome and teach me a lot, i watch your videos with the guitar in my hands so yeah, i'd love to see longer videos, thanks for your content, you're awesome
Los Lonely Boys were amazing.....I know they are still out there touring but that initial CD was really good and heavily SRV inspired which is always a good thing.....I heard about them early on as afriend of the family did some studio work with them before the hit the stratosphere
Yes I want to see that dives. when I watch your videos, I don't just watch one at a time because it is short I wash probably three. I'm still catching up and if you can deep dive and I end up learning with you the win-win for me
Hi. Thanks for the video and the comments on the band. Can you talk more about that harmonic minor scale theory and how it is used with the blues box? Thank you.
Played a festival with them in Oregon a a few years ago. Their crew was really cool. However, no one was allowed to talk to them at all. They stayed at the hotel until right before time and sat in the very back of the 20 person van. Then stayed away from everyone, played their set, and left. Was the strangest. But we had a great time back stage with all the other bands.
btw...two riffs I'd lke to understand (for short video analysis) come to mind...Millionaire Blues by Dire Straits and the riffs from the guitarist in Gimme One Reason Tracy Chapman
These videos are great, and I wouldn't mind longer more in-depth videos! I always love hearing the music/songs broken down and explained! I don't know if you'd be interested in going into genres that you're not into/used to, but as a big fan of more extreme metal I'd love to see your breakdown of some stuff I listen to most. 2 that I'd be super interested in would be Daath 'From the Blind'. I've always loved most of the music writing of that band. They don't have any live videos of it, but there is a video of just the guitar players doing a playthrough called "Daath Shred Electric Guitar on FPE-TV" but the audio quality isn't the best (not horrible though). I believe it's tuned to Drop C. The other one that's a lot more technical is the band Inferi. They're super talented guys from Nashville. They have several videos of them doing guitar playthroughs where you can see everything. I think they tune to C standard. They do a lot of technical stuff, but they do it in a way that is (to me) still musical, rather than just shreddy stuff. They know when to do something more simple and melodic in service of the song. Any of their 2018/2019 guitar playthrough videos would do, but I'd pick 'Thy Menacing Gaze' or 'Condemned Assailant" personally.
Michael, since the lock down I have been turned on to "reaction videos". A lot of them are a waste of time cuz it's just someone watching a video. Your reactions at least delve into music structure, even I don't know what your talking about most of the time, that's my fault. I really like all the insight from your viewers introducing me to new artist, expand my play list. keep up the great job.
This is a band that really stands out. I lived next to LA bamba bob morales richey's eldest brother he and Mario of the backyard blues band from watsonville turned me on this band bobs granddaughter married the drummer . You have only seen the tip of the iceberg do more indepth their sound is rich and warm fulfilling viva Los lonely boys. Rest in peace la Bamba bob
Cool deal brother man. I just read your message and it said Crystal married Ringo. But it is JoJo she married. No worries brother man see you in California in a few months if you plan on coming to any of the shows friend. Stay blessed
Your videos are so interesting to me. Have you covered any Gary Moore? His blues stuff I what I am hung up on. Also Coco Montoya. Really like all his stuff.....saw him in concert & he ended with a tune...Driving Sideways a nice instrumental....would love for you to break that down. He might be a bit hard to follow....he plays lefty with a righty strung guitar. He played with John Mayall for 10 years.
Always felt los lonely boys were insanely underrated.
They ARE insanely underrated. I just happened upon them in concert at the Iowa State Fair about 6 years ago. They absolutely blew me away. And it was on a free concert stage. Can't wait for a chance to see them again
Criminally underrated!! Seen em a few times, it was so damn good
INSANELYYYY. Especially hearing ONDA by them. Jesus it’s a master piece.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one they are amazing
as a guitar player, the guitar is clearly insane... but Jojo's base playing has always stuck out to me because it adds SO much to the sound. Really like a Base and a rythm guitar all in one.
Los Lonely Boys are one of those bands I forget about constantly. Their "top 40ish" hits like Heaven are great but when you get in to the rest of their stuff it's like a whole different level. The whole band is just badass.
I agree there music is the best I live most of there songs I saw them live front row these guys are no joke I was at reach distance best
I love Velvet Sky! These brothers are great!
Yes! these three brothers cover a lot of ground.
This band is like the most underrated band ever. The guitar player has a killer style and the voices of the three brothers also rock.
Henry does what he wants ..so when you say he's wandering nobody taught him this. They have played together as brothers since children. AND WON GRAMMYS DOING IT!! These are my friends. The best. Los Lonely Boys
Love the combo of SRV influences and the Latin flair. Very cool
Mike I'm 75 years old and I've listened to the Lonely Boys years ago. They were just tadpoles playing country with their dad.! One of the best bands ever.!
It was nice to see your enthusiasm for Los Lonely Boys. Hope you will do more of their songs. You did a great job explaining thank you
I just barely came across this video, and I honestly LOVE Los Lonely Boys. I would love to see some deeper breakdowns of their sound!
This guy sees music like Neo in the matrix sees source code...
Saw them live probably a decade ago. They blew the doors off the place.
Saw them live back in 2018, they were freaking amazing. So lucky they came to Salem Oregon.
They blow the doors off every time.
Henry started playing when he was 3 years old. #Texican Rock and Roll
Henry and his brothers are wonderful. Seen them twice and glad to see them back on the music scene.💙
Great video. I will hope you can do a "deep dive' to such songs (this one included) - like you had suggested. Kudos to you man.
same! More los lonely boys!
Yes, i want to see a deep dive into this video!
Deep dive please. These guys are incredible and unique would love to see the theory behind it.
Glad you're doing Los Lonely Boys. Been into them since I saw a TV special featuring them and Ronnie Milsap. I know this is guitar focused but the drummer and bass player are always cooking.
The Brothers Garza❤
I was raised listening to these guys. A lesson from this guy is something I wished for when I was younger starting to play guitar
Dude when you get the heavy strings to do that snap buzz, you get that texas sound we all love.... uuughh. I love that sound and tone!!! 🤪🤪🤪
At 13:04 Youre killing me! Thay are Bad ASS!"BUT if you want me to I Will..." Thank you Michael!!! You're doing a good thing

Muy buena banda, los conocí un tiempo atras, hoy me refrescaste y volveré a escucharlos
The first 15 seconds of this vid are worth the price of admission alone. Man, killer licks there.
i was astonished by how quick you picked up what scale he was playing in and how amazing you play definitely subscribing and watching more videos
Henry is so much fun to watch and listen to as well. The brother's harmonies are just perfect.
These Texas boys really rock...I agree that Los Lonely Boys are underrated. I have NO IDEA what you are talking about, but my ears like hearing the sounds.
Love this band. Heard them play live here in Ottawa a few years ago. Amazing!
Saw them live twice as a kid at the peak of their 2000-10s touring. Some of the best concerts of my life.
Saw them live third row seats a few years ago in Virginia. Shit was awesome.
Plus...LLB the sweetest guys ever. Texican Rock. Originals. .notice the Stacy Adams lol
Awesome!

Reese toured with LLB for a bit in the late 2000's

Dude I absolutely want to see deep dives on blues man!!! My heart is always drawn to blues from its core of Robert Johnson to Gary Clarke jr to everyone in between especially these guys!!!
Fantastic analysis. 🤙🏼
I love hearing guys like you and Rick Beato reminding me how little my music theory can keep up with yours! Thanks! 😂
Like the short videos but would also love the occasional deep dive!
I’m game for these shorter videos as well as longer videos! Love them! Constantly talking about them with my guitar playing friend.
could you do a video on the Phish playing "Ya Mar" live at Clifford ball? At about half way Trey Anastasio does a brilliant improvised solo that I would love to get a better understanding of. thanks

I’d like longer videos. I really learn a lot from all of your videos.
I love your post. I love the Los Lonely Boys, and I think your approach is very helpful. I ahve been playing for about 46 years, but off and on and on my own I cannot make the transition from a good player to a great player. Thanks for showing if you have some skill, you can actually be great.

Played a festival with them in Oregon a a few years ago. Their crew was really cool. However, no one was allowed to talk to them at all. @@Guitargate Cool! :D If you don't like it or don't find it interesting and don't do a video, no worries. Either way this is a great series!
Heny got the Santana and SRV feel
Michael, since the lock down I have been turned on to "reaction videos". A lot of them are a waste of time cuz it's just someone watching a video. Would love to learn how to play like that..
They call themselves "Texican", and proud of it!
Thank you for the insight. I'm buying a guitar as we speak and love the los lonely boys. Who Henry Garza I look to imitate
the longer the better!!!!!
YO! @MichaelPalmisano that is Reese Wynans on the keys from SRV's band!
How do I leawrn to be faster and pick like you can? With such accuracy? Love your VIdeo
Harmonic Minor. Sell That 3rd of the 5 Chord.
Guitargate react to this czcams.com/video/nEER1oNAT_8/video.html
Would love to see another los lonely boys or maybe even another SRV!
Long one and do the Samba pa ti live from Mexico version all the way through the extended
solos.
I'd watch this for 30-40 minutes. Dig deep brother
Cotton fields and crossroads was epic.
Did the sequel to this ever happen??
Nice song
Los Lonely Boys - Onda please
