    I just got my first IEM system but definitely want to upgrade the earbuds. Being a bassist myself, this is the type of video I need. There are a lot aimed at casual listening and podcasting. Main thrust is to protect what's left of my ears, as I've become in-demand in my city. Thank you. Subbing.

    Just watched your video and subscribed! And I see in the description the numerous free tools and educational material and really appreciate that you offer them. I signed up for the vocal range and vocal warm up…..
    I have a question about using in ear monitors. When I am working on recording a song with over ear monitor headphones I usually need to have the headphones slightly off my ears to hear my vocal tone and sing in key better. How well do in ear monitors work with singing?

    What are your thoughts on the in ear monitor with mics on them, like the ASI system that lets you adjust the level of room sound?
    I have used mine with one in and one out so I could hear my guitar amp and the room as well.
    We did are own mixing from the stage with a digital mixer. Each room we played was stored in memory, so everyone had the same in ear mix for each room.
    Thanks Terence for the advice your channel gives.

    • @TerenceFisher1
      @TerenceFisher1  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Mike...Good question! So overall, I like them. I've used them a couple of times before and they are good. However, In most cases, I've found it to be more valuable to simply just throw a couple of mics up in the room you are playing in if you like having room ambiance in your in-ears.
      That said, I'm convinced that the one ear in and one out thing is really due to either poor sound or an unnatural mono sound. Our natural hearing is a more stereo sound because of the spacing between our ears. So listening to a bunch of sounds and instruments in mono can be fatiguing to the ears.
      If this is the case...and I know that channel and mixer constraints, among other things, make it difficult...but I would focus on getting each band member a stereo mix. It's just so much better hearing things more naturally and hearing them as you would if you were listening to music from your phone using your in-ears. If you had a great stereo mix, you would never want to take the in-ears off, period. Lol
      P.S. Thanks so much for being a loyal watcher of my content!!!

      @@TerenceFisher1 this is a great comment my team just switched to IEM's and some of them take one out and occasionally i have to listen to what they are hearing and its so bad. one woman on our team said she uses only one because one of her ears is sensitive. i told her to use the pan function lol but i am also somewhat of an audio engineer so i create a decent mix pretty well for my taste. we all have a stereo mix controlled by each individual but i find that most people since they dont mix sound have no idea what to do. any suggestions?

    Is there a better budget version of the westones as currently I’m having buy the rest of my drum cymbals which cost a fortune and I’m a pianist so I can’t spend to much money on in ear monitors

    • @TerenceFisher1
      @TerenceFisher1  Před rokem

      There is a single-driver version of these that Westone has. But since you're a drummer, I'd recommend getting the ones mentioned here if possible. You will be much happier with the low-end response from your kick drums and toms, and other low-end instruments you have coming through them.
