- Drool over the lovely artwork. XD These aren't all the clips though this is just a few. I know there are more but I don't have those episodes. When I get them I'll probably make another one.

Honestly it still would have been an awfully written show but at least it would have been visually nice to look at.
It would have been really boss if it were written properly. (Just look what they have done to Starscream, nothing but a literal ghost of himself)

The problem is quality 2D animation takes time and it costs a lot. Which is why in many cases in Armada, the animation quality suffered.
The CGI kind of makes the character feel stiff and emotionless. They probably should of used it on the spaceships and maybe Unicron.
If they had stuck with this kind of animation, I would of liked Energon better. That and if they made Kicker not damn annoying.

Remove Kicker and Ironhide, this animation, and Emergon *might* have been good.

@@Kaiju-bm4ts 3d animation is actually cheaper to pay for in comparison to 2D animation. In addition, the quality of the characters, assets and environment are more consistent when rendered in comparison to always drawing or cell-shading a new background every time. 3d animation is a bit easier to reuse previous assets.

This was animated in Japan. Whatever studio was working on this was in charge, not necessarily Hasbro. All they did was green light the project. Backgrounds are easier to draw than moving characters frame by frame.

TFP was entirely (besides 2-3 flashbacks) 3D and it’s budget was 400k per episode in the beginning.
Assuming that you took away reflective surfaces, 3D background, VFX, SFX, 3D Humans, Lighting, you’d be left with a budget of less than 80000.
Assuming 40% goes to the broadcasters and 15% to hasbro, you’d have a budget of 36000$.
There are around 73 characters excluding humans, which means the budget per character is 602,73$ but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was lower than this.

I've currently just witnessed a bunch of these moments because I was rewatching the whole Armada-Energon continuity and I witnessed what I call "Armada moments" several times and I was like "what's going on?". Thanks for this lol
man, even with a mediocre story and characters, at least it could have been a visual spectacle if they used this animation all the way through.
two reasons for mixing two animation models, one is money and the other is time.

The Normal Animation in Transformers Energon definitely was a Thousand Times Better than The Actual Animation used in The Show Because it has the same feel as Transformers Armada. It was felt strange that Transformers Energon was supposed to a Sequel To Transformers Energon and had Different Animation. Now I didn’t hate Animation in Transformers Energon just The Normal Animation works better.

See a lot of people here wishing this series to be hand drawn instead of being CGI. While it does sound like a good idea it would probably be Armada animation all over again. And we know that animation had some flaws too
the version we got was the lazy version. when armada got released in japan (they aired it in the west first for some reason) they fixed a lot of animation errors.

I am not even sure where the dubbers got the idea of Hot Shot giving his blaster to Optimus but in the Japanese version it was called Matrix Cannon as it was a gift from his Matrix. Yeah. Kind of messed up there with the whole dub. Some made sense and some didn't.
At least Cybertron didn't meet such a horrible fate
@@wreathofpalmaria Well the reason it got release in the US first is because Transformers has always been more popular in the United States than its native Japan. Also the problem isn’t just the 3D animation but also the horrible and confusing plot and bad voice acting despite the fact that many of them had long proven their vocal abilities in past series like Beast Wars.
If memory serves me right, I recall that Cartoon Network was partially responsible for the incompetent dub. Although the reason why I cannot remember.
@@c-cupp7 I recall that when Armada was first made, to have the series air on Cartoon Network, it was mandated that either 10 or 13 episodes had to be ready for air within a few months, which isn't a lot of time in animation terms. That explains why there's a lot of reused scenes and stock footage in the first episodes of Armada, because Hasbro had to rush out the eps to get the deal.

Cgi models is cheaper. It's not like it was star wars teir cgi,but still nice cgi.

If they'd kept the CG to a bare minimum, and given the show a better executed story and character development (along with a better dub, of course), it might've had potential.
I know, 2D animation ain't cheap, especially considering it's a TV series after all, but hey, we can dream of there being a reanimation project replacing the vast majority of 3D scenes with 2D.
I wish they would have done the whole series like this it's sooo much better! Oh and just so you know I did drool! Amazingly beautiful artwork
they could've saved so much money if they animated instead of the shitty cgi. i guess they tried to do what beast wars did but they were able to do it because they had a juicy story and a delicious dub.

I just fucking wish they would make more Anime Transformer cartoons. Animes always had such beautiful detail. If Armada didnt have such horrible fight scenes and story it would be a masterpiece but sadly Its not.
What are you talking about, there was nothing wrong with Armada, the only thing that happened was the animation error and characters just getting one of the transformers names wrong. If the creators were have fixed it then it'll be good, also I see no problem with Armada, the only problem that burns me is Armada being a sequel to that horride excuse of a continuity(Also Armada should have stayed as a separate universe far away from energon, instead of being connected to Energon and cybertron) . SO at least give Armada some credit before judging it.😐

just look at these animations....they make the crappy cgi look like kids made.......and when this CGI is put against the CGI of beast wars that came far earlier than energon this CGI loses to even that.
And even Beast Wars has the story to back it up, energon is garbage and they needed to make it better, rather Its the animation or the plot.

I started watching Superlink link recently (it's pretty good btw) and it's basically a twisted version of the 86 movie, like something in-between g1 and sg to give you an idea
The show's story and writing would still be terrible but at least it could've looked good
I have the omega supreme dvd! only that and the transformers movies.....i don't have the rest of the DVDs of energon, but it had a lower price than that Japanese starscream they had over at third planet....

Not even the cool NORMAL animation, could have saved the series from the awful dubbing in some cases. WHY wasn't this series animated like this?! It would have at least been SOMEWHAT bearable to watch.

What they should have done was used normal animation for this series and Cybertron. With Normal animation its alot more expressive then CGI, the CGI in Energon and Cybertron just sucked ass. I only liked Energon because there were a couple of instances where they used normal animation which i liked
