- Japanese traditional dolls - 人形 - 4K Ultra HD : Like any culture, dolls or ningyō, have been and are still very popular in Japan. Today we had the chance to share with you some of these gorgeous creations made by Fukuda-sensei, a Japanese doll master we had the chance to meet while exploring their creations and private collection in Tokyo.
Unlike Europe for example, Japanese Dolls were not only toys for kids but also considered as art in much the same way as statues are art, and this is how they are treated in many Japanese homes.
Like an elaborate sculpture, it can take up to one year to make such a doll from start to finish, due to the delicate nature of the materials involved and the time required for the paint to dry. Doll masters sometimes need up to one month to finish a doll’s head for example and need to pay close attention to humidity when working.
Finally, on average a doll costs between 100,000 - 500,000 yen, but the rarest ones can fetch up to several million yen, depending on how famous the artist is.

They're magnificent and each one of their faces is different it's amazing
It has been a dream of mine to have a Japanese Doll, but I don't think it's going to happen. How truly beautiful they are.
Look in E-bay while most of the dolls are not made by Master Craftsmen, they still are beautiful and I love them too.
I have purchased some from Amazon, and most of mine come from the Goodwill thrift store.
You are going to get then soon 😉😉😉😉😉
I’ve purchased antique pieces at thrift stores for pennies! Adored for years in someone’s home and their kids donate their parents “junk” to the Goodwill or Salvation Army! I take them home and will admire them until my children will probably do the same!
I swear , I'min love with these dolls and also drawings ... they're so beautiful.
Why does this make me emotional
These are so beautiful I'm planning to get one for Christmas this hear.

so fascinating! the dolls are stunning! i'm always amazed by japanese artisans whatever they do!
The one at 0:14 is my favorite, I don't know why but there is something special about her.
Renan Venâncio I think it’s her eyes.
Wow, these dolls look truly exquisite. I know there are more affordable options, but these are amazing!
+Vladimir Prostran they are indeed quite impressive.
I have bought some from Amazon, and most of the ones I have are from the Goodwill thrift store. I purchased a16 inch tall one this morning in a purple kimono. Very pretty.
I have one doll and she is wearing a kimono of red and gold brocade decorated with chrysanthemums holding a Samurai helmut in her left hand. She has a chrysanthemum headpiece and her hairstyle is from the Edo period. Since watching many of the videos here on Japanese dolls, I think she is a princess from a Kabuki theatre but I'm not sure. I got her as a Christmas gift from my older Sister when I was eight years old and am 63 now. I need to find her a new home. I named my doll Keiko and because of her, over the years, I tried to learn about Japan and its customs.
Hi, thank you for your comment and for watching this video! May I ask what do you mean by finding her a new home?
She sounds beautiful! She would fit right in with my collection. I adore these dolls! :)
Keiko is a Yagake--Hime doll, the Princess of Hawks. You can find more info now about her and her story is fascinating. Have a nice day :D
Nice, you have a doll of Princess Yaegaki who is the fictional daughter of Kenshin Uesugi in the kabuki play Honcho Nijushiko. She I often seen holding the kabuto helmet of Suwa that belongs to Takeda Shingen.
I ordered one of her on ebay earlier today, And I can't wait for her to arrive ❤❤
@@TokyoStreetView Since posting that comment I said that because my own home was being sold through the US court system and I wanted to see her have a new home. I had been looking on the Internet on where I could sell her at that time but no results. I packed her up with much care but even that the people who helped me move were not careful with my belongings when they took them to my storage unit and I don't know what condition she is in at this time. I need to go see.
I need this to be for at least 1 hour.
+Vaijayanti Mala One day maybe I will try to make an hour long video, just for the fun of it!
อืม
I have a small collection...here are stunning.
I think these are the most beautiful dolls on the world
I have been collecting souvenir dolls from all over the globe for many years now, each in their traditional dress. I especially appreciate the Japanese doll. They are masters at their craft. With the current evil that is spreading globally threatening to eradicate variety in culture I am blessed to have this collection in my possession. God created variety and it is good.
Thank you for your suggestions and I'll look into those. :-)
Wow these dolls are so beautiful whoever made these dolls did a very good job and I hope they keep up the good work😻😻

J'aime cette vidéo 🌼🌺🌻
Merci
I love your videos.
Could you please upload a link to or a description of the songs you use in them, though?
+Abdalla Almeligy Hi, Thanks. I purchased this song from a company that does music for broadcast and it did not come with a title, just a serial number :(
Thanks for the reply! I used Shazam and found the song after quite a few - unsuccessful - tries!
Abdalla Almeligy
Really? Cool! What's the name?
Sorry! I didn't realise this is the traditional Japanese music video. None of the music identification apps were able to identify this song; though, I found out the names of some other songs (which are also nice) on your other videos. I recently replaced my phone, so all the data is gone unfortunately.
If I somehow ever come across the name of this song, I'll be sure to let you know.
I want this 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks to for This video.
Where is This place in Tokyo?
love the artistry. what is the title of that music?
Awesome video thank you for sharing the culture I have a doll that needs TLC, not sure what route to take I*m in the USA.
+Rickey Anderson Hi, not sure how to help you here. There must be however some kind of association in the US who could help but which one?
Yes I*m gonna check with some classic doll repair shopes in my area I wish I was on the West coast I Google and found a name there.
+Rickey Anderson The best would be to send it over here in Japan, but I am scare that ppl here will charge quite a lot for it. Good luck!
I purchase the doll in Namikata Ehime everything takes time, but thank you just the same.
+Rickey Anderson If you can't get it done in the US, please send us some pictures and we could try asking around for a quote.
Where can you get dolls from the 1950's repaired?
Ok, I'll try to send photos but my camera on my phone is blurry.
What mean by rare? What example of rare doll?
Andd why i can buy this in japan?
Rare since these dolls are made by some of Japan most famous craftworkers and are quite different from the one you can see at tourists shops. Some of these dolls cost literally a small fortune.
I have one. Bought from an old used dolls shop
I would like to purchase one ?
I have an old doll of this kind gifted by a Japanese world war veteran.
Are they of any high value?
Its pretty old said my dad
I hate to say this but I was thinking on selling my doll. I'm an old lady and my health is deteriorating would love to see Keiko have a new home. I had found a website called Black Samurai which sells dolls but I don't know if they buy them. However, the did sell dolls and some were antique dolls. My doll I got her in 1962.
Oh! Ok, I get it. The website you are talking about is in Japan and I do not think they will buy from regular people. Just contact them. It seems to me that, from what I can read, is that finding a new home for this doll is more important than money so you could donate it to some Museum or gallery that deal with Japanese craft. The other way would be to put this doll for sale in an auction. Try to contact auction professionals around you, they maybe able to help you.
please help. I have a Geisha Doll from around the 1960s. I want to sell it but have no idea how to or what it's worth. please help
They might have books at the library about worth of dolls from then, can also check for information online at ebay or craiglist or similar sites.
Are the dolls Hina ??
Nope, they are not.
Whats is ñame of song ????? Please 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
