  • Gluing silicone to wood turns out to be harder than I thought. This video contains experiments in which glue I should use to finish up my silicone bottle stoppers.

E6000 glue would have worked- just as the others might have if u sanded the silicone (sounds strange) but your glue needs a rough service to grip onto. I learned this by trial and error;)

The best glue I've ever used for gluing silicone to wood and plastic is "DAP All Purpose Adhesive Sealant 100% Silicone". It's designed to be an aquarium sealant, so it's FDA approved food safe to boot. It's basically just type 1 RTV silicone with silanes added as a adhesion promoter. I buy it for $5.00 per 2.8 oz tube at Home Depot (in the USA). The stuff is absolutely amazing. You'd need pliars to pull off that sacrificial bottle-stopper piece and I bet the stopper would tear before the glue joint failed. It may not be available where you live, but what you need to look for is an adhesive that is itself primarily silicone with silanes added.

You have actually used this product to glue silicon(e) rubber to wood?
I belong to a woodworking guild that makes wooden toys for underprivileged children.
      that
The toy, needing silicon(e) rubber glued to wood, has wooden wheels. As the child pushes the toy, the toy's wheels' rotation actuates a wooden frog to jump up and down.
Problem: wooden wheels do not grip floors well. So my fellow elves and I have stretched silicon(e) rubber wrist bands around the wooden wheel rims to serve as tires for traction. Just stretched on the wheel, the wrist bands work fine.
But vigorous use by a child will likely see the tires eventually come off. Hence the need for an effective glue to bond silicone(e) rubber wrist bands to the wooden wheel rims.

@@LifeHappens83 Keep in mind that DAP makes dozens of silicone products. You're looking for "DAP All Purpose Adhesive Sealant 100% Silicone". It's in a small tube about the size of toothpaste. Home Depot carries it, but you can probably find it on Amazon. The glue joint is 10x stronger than anything else I tried. I hope your project is a success!

I plan on making ties that have a part from silicone and a part from plywood that is supposed to stick together. What glue do you recommend for this?

I have heard that super glue accelerator are only diluted bleach and water with some essential oils for the smell 🤔
