The “prettier in person” thing is definitely a compliment. Not because you look bad on camera but because you’re already STUNNING on camera. And so to be even prettier in person, not edited, retouched or camera lit or anything is basically mind blowing because it’s hard to imagine how someone could be so naturally beautiful 💛

As a tattoo artist, I fully support being an alternative to therapy, haha 😂❤👏🏼. I do tattoo quite a few trauma survivors, healing self-mutilators, as well as a large handful of the LGBTQ+ community in my area who prefer one-on-one tattoo experiences. Come as you are is what I express to my clients. It's a really rewarding experience to watch a client walk out my door feeling a little bit more confident in their skin. ❤❤❤ Making others feel not only good about themselves, but also listened to is why I love my job so damn much.

@Autumn Becker It's good to be picky! 'Judge it harshly' is what I tell clients when they are in the mirror checking out their stencil lol. It's a permanent decision, and you have every right to voice what YOU want. Your body, your choice! 👏🏼 Being comfortable with your artist definitely opens that door of communication easier, I feel. I think all tattoo artists should work in various customer service positions to really understand how to communicate with people in various situations. And having patience, compassion, and being able to give your clients grace when needed. 👏🏼

When I was a kid, I had *horrible* social anxiety. I still do, but now I’m aware of it. If I was late to school, even if it was for something totally legit like a doctor appointment, I was completely filled with dread about entering the classroom. I would always get to the door and stand outside the door for several minutes just building up the courage to walk in. Everyone looks at you when you walk into the classroom in the middle of class, and I desperately wanted to be invisible. It wasn’t until I was 28 or 29 that I finally figured out that what I was feeling was anxiety. What I experienced didn’t match what I thought anxiety was. I’m just glad I was never so bad that I couldn’t order my own food. If anything, I would try to be quiet when giving my order so the people I was with don’t hear because I thought /they/ would judge me. 😮💨 anxiety sucks.
To everyone else with social anxiety: you are beautiful. You are valid. You deserve to take up space and resources. You are important. The people who judge you and make you feel bad are projecting their own problems and biases onto you. It’s not your fault. I hope you’re able to find a way to manage your anxiety very soon!
