A similar situation to this happened to me a while back. My husband became angry with me while we were on a beach one day. Back then, I had recently discovered that he was having an affair with another girl so I tried to start the conversation with him about how I knew what he was doing. He started screaming at me for having gone through his phone and that it was none of my business. I never even raised my voice because I was so heartbroken. He started shoving me while yelling till I stood up and started walking away. He got up and started pushing me down on the sand and got me into an arm chokehold to where I couldn't breathe.
Luckily, two men came over to my aide and helped separate us. I'm forever thankful to them. I'm now separated from my husband. This is the tip of the iceberg of how he acted, especially in private. Please help out a stranger if you ever see them in this situation in anyway you can.
When I was 11 I witnessed abuse. I felt helpless and scared but I still tried to help.
GOD BLESS YOU, MISS. STAY SAFE.
thats an amazing story (not the abuse part obvi) but god bless you and stay safe

Many women don't know what they're walking into until a few weeks, months, or even years of being in the relationship when the abuse starts. Not a woman in her right mind would choose to willingly be abused.
This is actually a great experiment. Tons of people are commenting saying they'd help, but you wouldn't actually know unless you were there. What's great, though, is this spread awareness to 12 million people. So if you thought "I would step in and do something about it" I hope now you actually will if you ever see it happening!

I was screaming and crying begging for folks to help me ... all around watched, walked away did nothing. Three young men saw what was going on and stopped in the middle of the road, all got out and ran to my aid. I will never forget screaming for help while being kicked on the ground and other's just walking away and totally ignoring the situation. I will also never forget the three brave young man that stood to protect me in a very violent situation. Men who beat on women are cowards! Stand for other's no matter the situation ... If you are by yourself call the police, if you think her life is in imminent danger (if he were beating her to death) you grab a rock and mash his head in, otherwise if you are in a group you say "hey man what are you doing?" Don't be that person who awkwardly walks away

+AGgirldoll um, no. it just depends on how hard you hit them and where. It really doesn't take much to really hurt someone with a rock to the back or the side of the head, you could even kill someone like that. I like how it’s mostly you get people getting upset and helping
It's pretty simple, how well you believe you'll handle yourself against the offender is a big factor in the decision to help the victim. If you're a 70 year old you'll most surely not stick your nose in that sort of thing, unless you decide to call the police. Simply because, in your possible scenarios imagined, there's a chance you'll get beat up. If you notice, the only people who attempted to stop the offender were men who appeared to be fairly capable of defending themselves. Notice how those two guys who were together were especially confident and quick to act, they felt their odds were greater.
Humans are very empathetic beings by nature, we work and live in systems of communities after all, It's inherent to us. However, It's also natural that we put our safety first. It's not selfish or evil or worth of despisal, It's simply natural. So to be fair, 20 people in that video could have called the cops and didn't. They could have, but they were just in an "oh screw It's none of my business" or a "oh wth It's just an argue, they'll be ok" or something along those lines, to serve as an excuse for their lack of empathy and/or will to spend resources on something that won't directly benefit them.
This reflects the system we currently live in to some extent.
So true........
somebody give this man a cookie
Or maybe, JUST MAYBE they thought the girls should know better for hanging around with a woman hitter. To what extend is the womans fault and begins the man one? Is this a problem of violent man hitting girls or dumb girls liking violent man?
***** Exactly. Women. I still blame them for not calling the cops though.
blaxxxx Look, I never denied these people could at the very least have called the cops. I was just explaining why people reacted like this, because apparently everyone feels like bashing the masses on the internet without ever truly walking in their shoes. Hey from this distance I could kick Clubber Lang's ass too, but it wouldn't look as fun if he was standing right in front of me. I'm not defending their behavior. People are just scared.
You mentioned lack of empathy in humanity. That is due to specific circumstances (people raised in violent environments) and/or inherent mental disorders. By default, we're empathetic. What sense would it make for a race that lives and hunts in groups to NOT be empathetic?
I was beaten pulled from my vehicle and zip tied in the street by 8 men. Downtown on a sunny Saturday with at least 100 people witnessing. I dont expect for people to jump in with those odds. But no one even called 911. Once police drove by and stopped the attack, all but 1 of my attackers escaped. He ended up getting charged with 6 felonies. Not one witness even stepped forward on my behalf. Trust me people, if something happens to you, you mine as well be on a deserted island. You are all alone. On my skin this is 100% true.
**EDIT** my apologies, I just realized people may think I am a woman, which kind of makes sense after posting my comment under this video.. I should have been clearer. I'm a dad. And thank God every day that my 2 children were not in the car with me. Both of their carseats were, so these guys knew they were doing this to a father. I did not do anything to provoke such an attack. This happened in San Francisco, the so-called progressive city.

OMG... It's unbelievable that people just keep walking and do nothing 😶 From 20 people only 4 helped... I'm speechless 🤐
Shocking to say the least! That could've been someone's daughter, sister or mother and if this were real, how would the people that walked by without intervening feel, if the woman in the park was actually murdered by the guy... A deep sense of remorse, regret and a guilty conscience would haunt them... Very sad indeed!
NO, I don't believe that one in four women will be a victim of domestic violence.
A guy rolls his eyes and that's considered DV, a guy refuses to pay for his GF shoes, purse... That's the worst form of DV because that is considered mental torment.
We've all heard of a guy who Rob's a bank (one crime) and is caught, he may be charged with multiple charges, same thing goes with DV, one incidence may be considered multiple cases, and then there's the preceived DV, don't get me started.
If it was a guy you wouldn't give a crap....

As a woman, I think I would be hesitant to try and help because in this kind of situation, I would be scared. I'd probably stare for a really long time to see if that idiot would stop though. Then I'd ask the girl if she were okay. It irritates me how many people just passed them by. Especially the men. No fucking excuse to not try and break it up
Also, I dont know why people keep saying "Men cant hit a woman but a woman can hit a man?" No one's even saying that. Its never okay to hit ANYONE just shut up about that crap.
It`s no fucking excuse to say you wouldn`t try and break up because you would be scared, because you`re a woman. Men don`t want to be beaten to and might also be scared. You`re a sexist and you don`t even realise it
madeofukf
well, sorry you feel that way about me, but thats honestly what I would do. sorry if thats not a good enough answer for you. besides that, i never said i wouldnt try. I said i would be hesitant to do it right away. big difference. I've always been an observer. I like to know what Im jumping into first rather then doing it right away for the simple fact that I dont want to get knocked out by someone who's clearly more powerful than I am. That has nothing to do with being "sexist". I've broken up fights between my friend and her boyfriend, because I knew what happened prior to the fight happening. honestly, i dont know why you're so offended. you dont even know me. and everyone has their own opinions on the video...
Your fear is "no fucking excuse to try and break it up." The four people that did intervene were men. Why, as a woman, do you have the right not help someone in need and yet feel compelled to hold men accountable?
***** To think it is hypocritical for a woman to think it is only a man's job to intervene? How can anyone say they would not do anything but then tell others that didn't that they were bad people?
This proves that people are so selfish and won’t help others😡 Shout out to those four men that help😀. Only 4 out of 20 people stopped and helped
EDIT: With all the reply’s I have been getting I know some people are mad at what I said so I wanted to apologise and say honestly if I was in that situation to help someone then I would have walked away in fear. The only reason y I said it was selfish was because i didn’t truly understand how hard it would have been for those people to make a decision to help or leave😪 Once again I’m sorry
Alisha Tanner It doesn’t prove selfishness at all! It’s called a fight or flight response. In a situation where you have no time to think it over, you’re most likely to choose flight. It’s not because they’re cruel or selfish, it’s because they’re scared and don’t know what to do. If one was to walk off and then call the police, then that would be helping.
Crimson Penny I guess I didn’t think of it that way😪 sorry if I offended you😒

Safia Zad Honey that isn’t a word. No hate tho 👍🏻
Why does this break MY heart so deeply.
The sad thing is, the number of people that helped would’ve been lower if it was a guy being abused.
No i think the *sad* thing is the violence.
The real sad thing is the fact that people are abused no matter the gender. No need to throw in that, everyone can be abused and that's a fact no matter a man or woman it's not good
This is honestly heartbreaking.
I guess they took "mind your own business" too seriously

My respect to the 2 guys went up like everyone past them

The people who didn't help are real horrible people
They probably won't even help a poor homeless child
OB Owen what are they meant to do. This man could be dangerous and if they walk past trying to get away from this situation and that girl gets hurt that doesn't make them horrible , it's not there fault. Just because they walked pass , it does not make them horrible. They could be witnessing the abuse and walking away and then calling the police away from the situation.
OB Owen I know right??
not necessarily, what if he had a knife or a gun? he can be dangerous personally i would help but.. still

I know it's hard to believe people would ignore blatant abuse right in front of their eyes, but it's actually extremely common. It generally relates to the bystander effect. People have been murdered and people have been assaulted and abused and left for dead purely because people feel as though someone else is going to stop it, or purely because they're uneasy in stepping in. Bunch of psychology bullcrap I learnt last year but it's more common than people think and it's easy for us to judge and be angry at the people who just walk past but it's a lot different when you're confronted first hand with it. Regardless of all that it should be human decency to step in and help the girl out.
yes I had a psychologist in psych 101 take this so far as to truly believe this.
If I passed out and fell to the floor no one in the class would do anything, C'mom I know I would.
Even though over half her class was failing the class ,she took behavioral science so far as to comment to me none of it was their fault..the ones who do good only do so because somewhere along the line they were conditioned to it (like their parents rewarded them or something)..the ones who dd poorly she felt it was cause they did not get rewarded or praised for good grades.
C'mom you think effort, studying or really trying and studying more than most has nothing to do with one's grades while not studying, trying or making an effort has nothing to do with poor grades, Give me a break.
Although a good bit of psychology might be true, with human behavior one cannot really say it is a true science.
Plus this sample looks a little like they are just having a tiff and he is roughhousing..if he was really beating the crap out of her and she was screaming and bleeding etc, people I think, despite the bystander effect, would do something..
Plus it depends on the person who is walking by and whether more than one person get involved..often if one starts to act and others join in, it makes it easier for all of the people to get involved..since this was not real, he despite being a good actor can only go and act so far..someone might have shot him if he took it where real violence goes.
I think if it was real and very out of hand more people would have gotten involved..it did not look like he was really hurting the girl a lot and that may have entered into it too.
***** Just so people aren't confused by false information, no that isn't the bystander effect. The bystander effect is when there are a lot of people near by, and no one sees anyone else doing anything, so they don't want to stand out and do anything, because they assume someone else will do something and they won't have to stand out. It's transferring responsibility of what is happening to everyone around them, but not themselves.
There have to be more people there for the bystander effect to occur.
These were individuals who did not know what was going on, did not want trouble, and were not asked for help. Even with the bystander effect, if you want help from a person, make them "responsible" for helping you, and ask them specifically for help, you will likely get help. This was not the bystander effect, but she was not asking them specifically for help. She was just yelling and being like "Stop!"
Those people, who don't know them by the way, had to very quickly process several things:
Was the girl's life in immediate danger? Didn't really look like it. Might get hurt, but didn't seem deadly. If it was deadly, she'd be on the ground getting beat the fuck up. It didn't look like a violent fight. And since it wasn't deadly, they saw it as her responsibility to handle, not theirs.
Were they in a relationship? Was that how they fight? Though you don't want to believe it, that is actually how some couples fight. Some couples even slap each other, which people are like GASP OMG ABUSE ABUSE, but the couples never go past that, and their relationship is otherwise functional. They just fight more physically than most couples do. So how is a stranger gonna know that? If they call the cops, they might even be causing trouble for both parties. And they probably didn't feel like asking them, either.
Did she deserve it? What if she had stolen from the guy, or something worse? They don't know. What if he was justified in their opinion (he wasn't using deadly force, after all), and they just caused trouble for him? Again, they are strangers. They don't know either of them. They're just weirdos who they came across while running. Why should they help? Do you know how much crap you'd have to stop and do if you stopped every time there was a "maybe" that popped up?
What if they stopped to help her and the guy had a knife or a gun? Would you put your life in danger for a stranger? What if the potential helper had family and the attacker killed the helper? They would die without ever getting to say their goodbyes to their family.
More strangers (like you) MIGHT call them "heroes" for helping, but that's IF it helped at all, which it might not. You could easily both get killed. You'd risk all that on some woman you don't know who might be getting what she deserves?
What if you helped her, he attacked you, and she ran away and left you there to get your ass kicked or possibly killed? You don't know she wouldn't. She's just a scared person, after all. What, are you gonna blame the "victim" too?
There are a ton of good reasons not to help her.
And the only decent reason for helping her is some childish ideology that the world is a "good place" and you should be a magical superhero for good, because a lady needs saving from the latest proverbial dragon.
Why automatically assume she's a good person who deserves saving? These people are scamming innocent people (the people running past their nonsense) for CZcams views. The social experiment has been done a ton of times. It's even on CZcams already.
And that's the "innocent person" you think they should risk their lives for to stop and help? Again, she didn't even ask for their specific help.
kenneth mabie Yes!!
***** I would of lashed out like that of a lion no remorse for the man.....One time a longgg time ago i was playing soccer with a LOT of people like 50? in school......It was a HUGE field what i did was crazy one of them thought it would be funny to trip me and so they did as i slowly fell down to the ground i extended my arms smashed my hands to the ground and like propelled myself back up/forward.
***** personally i dont think they are ignorant at all, the degree of physical violence makes a difference in how people will react to it and on what level they will react to it, for example if she was bleeding and he was actually hitting her i can garantee more people would try to stop it, also (not being sexist) more men would try to stop violence of a high degree than women would due to our built in protective instincts, the fact that these people dont stop doesnt mean anything. ive seen people in relationships that act like the man and woman in this clip and even though they act abusive towards each other that is what they like. people jump to conclusions way too fast as for the bystander effect you mentioned is it really that they feel uneasy or they think someone else will stop it? or is it just the primal fear of getting themselves into that abusive situation and not being able to save yourself after you mixed in? questions questions questions ^_^

All of those women were too busy posting "Strong Woman" and Feminist Manbashing memes to actually stop and help their fellow woman. All of the ones who helped were men....and shame on the ones who did nothing.
Because women are more likely envisioning that if this man would do something to her, if I say something he may do worse to me.

I thought that people were actually going to help I guess the world we live in is not what we think 😔💔
Sadly this is how the world IS 😔 Here in Sweden people was just walking over a pregnant woman that was laying and screaming after being stabbed in the belly. No one was there to help. Some years ago a woman went raped in the train at the metro. The train was FULL of passengers and NO one did more than just looked. The world is fucked up 😔

I can’t believe so many people just kept walking… I was outside Costco, and three dudes were catcalling a woman walking in, and I intervened. They got up in my face, and shoved me around. One of the scariest moments of my life, and the woman didn’t even thank me… but, to see change in the word, you have to be the change. I hope these kinds of videos raise awareness and actually get people to be mindful.
it's so scary that the most ppl didnt do anything wtf

I'm 15 and I would help anyone like the homeless
Nathan Hendershot It doesn't matter what the age is, honestly
Hayden Williams when you are young , u always think you are big and strong. i used to think like you too. but as we grow older , we tend to put our safety first and reconsider about getting involved any dangerous situation. i admire your courage but dont get yourself killed your someone you dont know.
You think you would help, but concider that your brain thinks different with stress. Of course you would comment that you'd help but if you'll have the same situation right now there is a good chance you would act like the majority of people in the video. And what would happen if the man/woman would turn on you? This was just a public test. Have that in mind.

It's easy to say how wrong it is that no one stopped to help, but I don't buy into the fact that you would do any different..
And how do you proof yourself that you are not talking bullshit...because its as easy for you to talk about other people than it is for the other people to talk about how wrong this is....
Willy Coffee | ¿Vlogger? I have no idea what you just said.
***** "didn't seem to violent." His hands were on her. Physically. That's enough.
it's not that the people passing are cowards or don't think it's wrong. As said before, the arguing didn't seem so violent, also in order to interfere the other person should have the ability to overpower the man otherwise both of them would be in danger.
*****
His hands were on her, "that's enough"? Do you have any clue about what relationships and arguments consist of? Some scenes did not look violent at ALL, like they were just playfully fighting for example. So no, that's not "enough." Look up the definition of violence, and you'll see that it doesn't mean merely placing your hands upon people like you clearly implied. Stop being so melodramatic about a meager issue like this, please.
+a aphatiel It doesn't really matter who's bigger and who's in danger. What's right is right, and casually walking by while a woman is being wrestled by a man, clearly larger than her, is not right.
+Poseidon "Melodramatic"?? HE PUT HIS HANDS ON HER. It was pretty clear they were not "play fighting." She was screaming "stop" and "leave me alone." For all they know, he could've been a rapist, or a thief. She could have been dead within the next few minutes. It doesn't matter how small the signs may be: it could escalade very quickly. If you're implying that arguments consist of verbal and physical abuse, then I truly feel sorry for you and whomever made you believe so. I've had my fair share of arguments with my husband; but I was never pulled and pushed around like a rag doll. It's clear that she needed help.
Hahaha such a funny prank!
