It was a subsidiary regiment established by the duke of zweibrücken (engl. two-bridges, fr. deux-ponts) for the king of france. they fought in the seven-years-war in europe and were then sent along as part of rochambeaus first corps. at the battle of yorktown they captured the infamous redoubt number nine and the french military files list the second in command, william of zweibrücken (son of the duke of zweibrücken and a french dancer) as "the hero of the battle of yorktown" because he stormed the redoubt ahead of his men, sword in hand.

If you're looking for old military music, these musicians are not your best source, since they make modern interpretations.
They wore blue coats because they were actually considered a German regiment in French service.
DLC unit in ETW for france, love them and the march
This march and British grenadiers at the opposite and you got the perfect ambiant music ^^
