They need to make a spin-off series about the Mitchell’s cause this was a real good episode

Maybe rewinding the clock even further to the 50s or 60s when Lou and Albert Beale were young and Peter Beale and Dennis watts were in short trousers .

@@michaelnedsmar9106 Like when they did First of the Summer Wine back in 1989. That was excellent. They could do a brilliant late 50s early 60s EastEnders, maybe have the Krays featured as well.
Wow they certainly picked the right actor to play Phil Mitchell he certainly looks like a young Steve McFadden
He was faultless. I honestly think he deserves a award for that oerformance . Just world class and had phil down to perfection
Let's hope they do more episodes of this they did an amazing job in it well done ✅ at least once a month or something

The episodes just perfect and never saw that twist coming at the end EastEnders definitely back in gold form hoping this was just a taste of what's coming in it's future definitely need more flash back episodes how well they went about it

Now that we've seen the Young Mitchell's, I would love to see the Young Slaters, The Young Pauline, Author & the Fowlers or the Young Slaters. Those would be gold.

1979 was quite a year for so many folks. Sue Nichols debuted as Audrey on coronation street, in The US Peter Bergman became a 10 Year Tenure as Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children, then he celebrates 35 Years as Jack Abbott #2 on Y & R. Melody thomas scott celebrates 45 Years as Nikki on Y & R. Flowers In The Attic was released as was the paperback version of Mommie Dearest, The Jacksons celebrate 10 Years as a singing group with Destiny, The Unicef Concert is broadcasted and sadly enough so many of the folks who were part of the Concert are dead.
She could also play Myra Hindley 🤣
Watched this last night, and thought it was BRILLIANT!!! ….all the actors where brilliant but Jamie Winstone was amazing and the actor that plays a young Phil Mitchell was the best, as his phrasing and moments etc where exactly the same as Phil Mitchell/Steve McFadden. As others have mentioned, a spin off series needs to be made from this.
All the pieces fitted right! Such a episode.

They all would fit in to today's cast her especially. She's definitely a Mitchel. And he genuinely looks like Phil. Brilliant cast. Grants actor seems more quiet but that's how grant was and Is.
It'll be really interesting seeing young Grant, Phil and Billy.
Nice to see Billy was a plonker even back then, the actor who played young Phil had all his mannerisms, his research payed off.
The one who plays younger Glenda looks like Agnetha from ABBA.
Old peggy Mitchell reminds me of the mother from Derry girls anyone else get that?
Think viewers would much rather watch a whole series of this than the modern Eastenders which seems to be well past its glory days
They should do a flashback episode with The Carters and The Brannings next!!

A spin off series would be good but having a soap about it with continuous episodes would be WAAAY too much work for the show. A series with Seasons like Season 1 2 3 ETC and weekly episodes would be good for this.

I'm sorry but I didn't enjoy this episode. I've been watching for 25 years and I like to watch classic eastenders but I just couldn't get into this.

Modern EE is 💩. Nevertheless, the flashback episode was good, and I hope there is another.
Trust the BBC to mess things up again. I had to laugh at the old TV, nine out of ten houses back in the 70's especially in the east end, could not afford a SONY TV set, they would have a much cheap brand such as Baird. The TV sticks out like a sore thumb.
Maybe they nicked it from a posh house.
@@Cosford869 Maybe who knows, but like in today's life a lot of people cannot afford a Sony TV as they are the most expensive on the planet, so imagine living in the 70's. You would only have this sort of set if you were rich as hell.
@@marknorville2692 Not sure mate. I'm replying on a Sony phone but it's on credit and I am not rich. Been living off my overdraft since 21st August and will be paying it all back on payday so I'm not rich by any means! But I may APPEAR to be well off. Back in the 70s they had a credit system called HP (Hire Purchase) so maybe the Mitchell's got it from Radio Rentals on HP!
@@Cosford869 I know about HP I lived during the 70's hence my comment about it being a rich TV. I do not even think that RR supplied Sony TV's. As for a mobile phone that is reasonably cheapish I have a Pixel 4A but thankfully my two year contract is now up, so I will not renew my contract and save £25 a month by paying £6 a month on giffgaff. However, the contract done me a favour, I got a mobile phone, a free TV and then two Xbox Series X and a PS5 so I done well from the contract ;)
@@marknorville2692 Nice one mate, yeah same once the contract ends in February '23 I'll save about fifteen quid a month and I'm happy with this phone so fucking tidy job. Not sure what telly we had from Radio Rentals back then, I know it was fucking massive and wooden mate! Think it was a Pye. Later in the eighties we had a telly with a 50p meter on the back. The times it went off when watching something mate and we didn't have another 50p to carry on watching!
