Yo team! Google have dropped the price of the Pixel 6a down to $599 AUD ($420 USD) on their official website - store.google.com/?hl=en-GB
This is the exact pricing I said I would have LOVED them to launch this phone at, and now that it is that price, I can HIGHLY recommend it!
Bravo Google 👏🏻
Still says 749AUD for me ;(
I am looking into upgrading from my Huawei P30 Pro which btw is a 60 HZ phone that takes incredible pics but I would like to upgrade to a Pixel. However, not sure if I should go with the 6a, 6 or wait for the 7 (not the Pro). For value for money I would say 6a but for a greater upgrade in tech 7 due to Tensor 2..what do you think?
6 pro down to $999au at JB hi-fi, probably a better buy IMO
Missing Video test?
I love how people say the 6a isn’t worth it based on refresh rate alone. Regular consumers like me don’t care about high refresh rate as long as it works well. Also, $150 isn’t a little bit more for those on a budget or not looking to spend over $500 on a phone. I can respect your opinion, but to me, it’s completely ridiculous you say the 6a isn’t worth getting simply for the high refresh rate and the price. $450 is actually a good deal for a phone with a flagship processor and 5 years of support. I swear tech reviewers obsess too much over 90 and 120 hertz displays. What amuses me is for months before it’s release everyone knew the specs on the refresh rate. All of a sudden now the 6a is trash because of it? Then I don’t remember any of these same hypocritical tech reviewers complaining as much about the iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 13 mini or iPhone 13 for having the exact same 60 hertz panel.
You cant compare it with iphones 60hz refresh rate man, iphone just has a better chip and in any test is superior in refresh rate. There are tests on youtube to prove this. A fair comparison would be with other android 60hz phones only. Right now the best buy in budget category is the Nothing phone which also has 120Hz
@@Ismail-hx4qj I agree the 60 hertz on iPhone is more smooth but you have to admit the tensor chip is close and the 60 hertz is the closest android to being iPhone smooth
@@Ismail-hx4qj I have iphone se 2022 and pixel 6a side by side and there's literally no difference iphone might be slightly smoother idk about "superior" but no one will notice it tbh.
@@Ismail-hx4qj the iphone has a superior screen, in that's it's much brighter and more colour accurate and more pleasing to the eye , so the refresh rate can be excused. I compared my friends iphone 13 to my pixel 6, I also looked at a few other models in store EG Samsung S22, their screens are on another level 😊
@@marksouthwell4490 Samsung makes all the screens. For all 3. Just the 6a is a cheaper panel to keep costs down. And apple tunes the screen different. Not entirely fair to compare 6a to standard iPhones. It's spot in market squares it up to the iphone mini & se. But it's about $400 or less now. Which is an incredible win for 6a considering it also is missing fast charge and has a lesser camera from the 6 & 6pro.
The pixel 6a is the best phone I've ever had, I've had expensive Samsung's and OnePlus phones before but the pixel is just something else. The 60hz refresh rate with the tensor chip is an absolute beast. Battery life is great, I get around 8 hours screen on time comfortably (heavy usage) the only negative I have for the 6a is the slow charging, 25w would have been ideal but then again it's an all day battery, you only have to charge it once. I'm team pixel forever now I'm really impressed.
I've taken to using a slower 5-watt charger overnight, and then using the 18-watt charger for quick 'refills' when I need it. The way I look at it. I'm unconscious, so a slow charge is fine. And 20 minutes or so on the 18-watt charger, can top off the battery when I need it.
Soo with 18w charger is it ok for a daily usage like if someone is student . I am worried about the charging speed.
@@lokeshvishal988 18 watts is what it is designed to use. With 18 watts, it will charge from 20% capacity to 100% in about an hour and a half. BUT, it charges just fine when using a lower powered, and slower charger.
@@lokeshvishal988 I only charge it overnight and use it heavily, get around 8 hours screen on time, I don't have to charge it till the following day.
@@squared_circle may be that will save us for a whole day single charge is enough for daily usage tq man
Pro tip: Another way to feel the difference between a plastic back and a glass back is dropping the phone. You feel like sh!t when the glass back shatters in a million pieces. Plastic all the way. Really liking my 6A.
lmao
Exactly! Why does everyone beg for glass backs when plastic is so much more sturdy?
I will NEVER EVER understand why manufacturers and the public put a value on premium build feel. There is absolutely ZERO reason to have the back of a phone made out of glass. One of the best possible values you can get out of a phone is less weight and less break ability. Greatest feeling phone I ever had was a Motorola moto G where the entire back of the phone was like a black rubber.
@@upthegut5332 Amen. My Pixel 3a felt great, and, the whole back body is plastic.
@@chakko007 it doesn't have the perception of 'quality' I guess. Tbh each of my last 3 phones I've used cases so it wouldn't really matter if it would be made of glass or plastic. I'd never feel it!
Sam, have you noticed any performance issues (especially, heating up) while using the navigation?
hey mate. thanks for the review. will you be doing another review as it's been updated to android 13? cheers
Which icon pack are you using?
I also have the pixel 4a and I consider upgrading. my big issue is that for the first time ever my smartphone is still functioning after 2 years so I am not sure if I should wait another year or not
Great review and good point about the pixel 6 being just little more money. I actually love smaller phones (the 4a was the best size for me), and I don't really care for an additional 2 gb RAM and additional storage, and I've been on 60 hertz since pixel 3a. So it doesn't matter that much to me. Something to consider if you're cross shopping with 6.
Love the app launcher you're using, can you share the name of the app or the link?
Where do you get your wallpapers?
Sam,which music player were you using while reviewing this phone ?
whats the music player app you used for the audio testing section? also such a great video with the intro and everything
It's called Nyx 👍🏻
thanks your review! can you share your wallpapers? they're awesome
Nice content bro...which will you choose between the 5 and the 6A?
Sam your content is evolving fast, cinematography is always peak!
Coming from the 3a, which I retired when I got the 6a, I don't find the 6a fingerprint reader any slower or any less reliable than that of the 3a. The battery life gives me roughly a day and a half of casual use. Somewhat less than when I'm viewing videos or playing simple games, which I personally feel is acceptable. With the camera, the color and dynamic range is better than the 3a but not significant. However, the 6a's noise control is significantly better than the 3a. This means enlarged prints will hold up much better. Physical size is similar to 3a. I agree that the target price should be closer to $400 US but I got 2 of them free for switching carriers, so. . . I am quite content with my new 6a phones. I'm getting exactly what I expected and I'm happy.
BTW: I considered the 3a the best phone I had ever used prior to the 6a. The 6a is now the best I've ever used.
Hey which carrier is providing that free ?
@@lokeshvishal988 T-Mobile
@@glenbarrington2634 thats great can you share me whats the process like i am moving to usa for studies and i would like to know that so i can try for this process
@@lokeshvishal988 I just went to our local T-Mobile shop and had the salesclerk set me up with a new account. The clerk wasn't aware of the 6a giveaway promotion, and he had to look it up to make sure I wasn't trying some scam. But it was quite easy. EDIT: I had to sign an agreement that I would remain with T-Mobile for 24 months.
Dude I love your layout for your phone. What are you using for the background and fonts?
I want those icons!!!
Where can I get those wallpapers ?
Hey can someone tell me which skin is he using in the software section???
same questions as some below: which icon pack is that? it is beautiful. thank you.
what music player was he using @4:08?
Man your videos are sharp AF, great job!
Absolutely favourite reviewer, so down to earth and has REAL use cases not just rereading spec sheets
Also holy shit the Australian economy is fucked
I just want to know what wall that is at the 0:51 mark 👀
So I am really curious about your opinion, what would you take this one or nothing phone 1?
What is the music app he is using at 4:00
okay now which music player app was that?
Great vid man, cinematography is on point as always
Where can I get those wallpaper
Which Icon is used??
Which icon pack is that?
Excellent review, truly appreciated!
I really love your channel man!.... mostly bcoz of the screen aspect ratio that it fits fully on my phone 👍.... And also great content as always 👍.
I'm in the US so got a great trade-in deal for my 4a, so I got the 6a. I love it, and I've only had 60hz phones so it looks fine to me. However, if the same trade in was offered on the 6 I probably would have spent extra for it. Honestly though if you want a compact phone by 2022 standards the 6a is great.
How long have you had the 4a and what did you get for it? (If you don't mind sharing.)
Google gave you $300 for the 4a trade in. They also three in free Pixel buds. So the 6a was basically $50
@@sappyjohnson thank you
My 6a was a lemon right out of the box. When text messaging and attaching a Photo a message stating: Message not sent: Invalid Destination Address popped up. It needed a new motherboard. Warranty covered the work.

Pretty nice review! Anyone have the wallpaper at 3:10 ?
Im really considering the pixel 6a because in my coutry greece, exacly right now, i can get it sealed new for 355 euro.
But the pixel 6 costs 500+. The price of the 6a is really really good. Im almost sold, thats why i needed a comparison between the two.
Thanks for the informative video. Im going to get the 6a with the first chance i get probably. And from a redmi note 9 pro, i hope the transition would be extraordinary.
The strange discounts for the pixel 6 make it hard to know when the best time to purchase any Google phone is. They are great devices at almost any of the launch prices but missing a deal can take the fun out of it.
Sam excelente video me aclaro muchas cosas
What theme are you using? Looks like a doodle theme, very nice!
Nica. Can u share with us the Music Player's name?
3:09 what wallpaper?
What is the name of the music player? @4.30
Juice
5:22 can i please get that walpaper link
Hey Sam, really nice video. By the way, which is the icon pack?
However people complain about pixel 6 not being bright enough outdoors and also the fingerprint problem is there. Now I wonder which is better nothing, s21 fe, or a53
Has anyone found the icon pack that he is using on his pixel 6a? It looks really good!!
Hell I can't remember how to add them without a launcher. And I used to theme 🤦🏾♂️
Love ur reviews Sam , funny thing in India the Pixel 6A costs same as the normal Pixel 6 there’s just 5usd difference so it’s better to go for the Pixel 6 here 🇮🇳
pixel 6 is not officially released in india. so you won't get warranty. what you are getting from Amazon are imported devices. so beware of that
@@jenishpatelbmc yes Haha I though my name is rare 😅😂
@@jenishboricha it is. i have found only 3 4 people since I was born
Yeah but support and warranty won't be here which is not good especially you're in rooting and stuff in worse case condition or in normal issue cases
But then there is the hindrance of non-region availability. So support will be extremely limited.
Thanks for the review. I purchased the 6a in the UK £299 while the Pixel 6 is priced at £599. Half price for an almost identical phone. A no brainer! I am finding both battery life and finger print sensor far better than on my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The Pixel 6a has a real premium look and feel and fits comfortably in your pocket. The ease of editing photos and the amazing 'eraser' make the device terrific value and head and shoulders above the competition. Enjoy your Aussie summer 👍😇
I have the FE and was thinking of getting the 6a but didnt know if it was a downgrade or not. My battery does 2.30h of SOT
Just putting a general question out there: @ what percentage of battery life should you allow the 6a to go down to before charging? This is also to keep the longevity of the battery in mind. Would like to know your opinions on this!
15 and charge to 80
@@chancesareshewears... Cheers helps a lot to know..so you shouldn't fully charge to 100% right!
@@sonnymorgan6141 Avoid full cycle (0-100%) and overnight charging. Instead, top up your phone more regularly with partial charges.
Ending a charge at 80-90% is better for the battery than topping up to completely full.
Use fast charging technologies sparingly and when your device is cool.
@@chancesareshewears...thanks so much 👍
I have an S22 ultra for my main phone, but the 6a for my work phone has been perfect the past month. Only downside for me is the slow charging, the 60hz display hasn't bothered me much.
That's good to hear. Have you encountered any heating issue on the back panel of 6a?
@@adr5754 Not for me no, but I strictly use it for email and texting, not much else.
@@greekthunder thank you!
The “60 hz problem” is so overblown it is mind blowing. The iPhones 14 has a 60hz display and nobody seems to care.
So many reviewers just follow what MKBHD says.
Charging speed?
Can't wait for the 2 month review!
Great review, and cinematography is incredible. Love it 😍😍
3:05 what app is that?? 😶🌫
where do you get that theme at 3:31

very nice review! thanks!
Does anyone know how he theme the icons this looks really smooth for a luncher
Never mind it’s nova
bought the phone right now, waiting for it to arrive internationally. U$D 350 (It may get taxed in importing though). Good deal?

Already ordered mine, but looks like trading in my 4a 5G is a good idea. I think you're the closest type of user to me, with the rooting and everything.
love the production quality 😌
Really love your reviews! It's not just a spec download. Appreciate the real world views!
can you post the wallpaper please!

I have the p6 & p6a. Every couple weeks. I change phones back and forth. I don't even notice the 60 hertz once I'm on that phone for few minutes . Lol
Those people who complain about that screen being too slow & a deal breaker, are the same people who wait in that ridiculous line at In-N-Out burgers
4:00 ❤❤name of the music player plzzzz
Ever since getting the latest update to Android 13 now the fingerprint sensor doesn't recognize my print. That is a real pain and makes the experience frustrating..... This is otherwise a stellar phone. Something like that ruins it though.
Phone is down to $599 on the google website in Australia. Jb hifi is price matching. Great phone for the price 🤙
This is a crazy deal
The best phone sub $600
i really like this phone. i just didnt buy it because of storage. my phone is already 4 years (xiaomi Mi A2, with partnership of googloe to give a clean androrid look) and i already have 115gb of storage full. with pixel´s camera i think i will fill it really fast. i´m really disapointed with that. i was waiting for it to upgrade... the regular pixel 6 is it worth the difference just because of storage? i feel that price gap opens new doors to other options... the 450 that the 6A costs here is amaizng
I have a 4a which I'll be keeping as long as possible, why do they keep creeping up the size of these phones. I previously went from a 2 XL to a 3 because the 2 XL was too large for me as I keep my phone and wallet in my front pocket, the 6a is almost the same size as the 2 XL so I'll give it a miss. We'll see what the next generation brings I guess.
Good video. I like 21:9 cropped. 👌
Nexus 6p had a full camera strip, marketed by Google to!
I literally put down my iPhone 13pm thinking 🤔💭 I was just grabbing this as a secondary but it's slowly becoming my main phone 🤳
Some might prefer the perfect compact size on the Pixel 6a though
I agree, and I am one of them. I hate big phones. Pixel 6a is the perfect size.
Halfway through the video so i’m not sure if it’s in yet but have you heard about the 90hz hack? you can apparently enable 90hz with a mod would love your opinion/thoughts on that
There's no guarantee if it's stable or not. Most likely this is a lower binned display. So it's a display that's designed to be 90Hz, but it's not the top end of the manufactured displays, and so they're only stable at 60Hz.
It's like how CPUs are binned. For example, a Ryzen 5600X is identical to a 5600 except that it's higher binned. So it can overclock to a higher frequency.
@@nottsoserious i’m no expert when it comes to how tech works or its limitations but from the few things i’ve seen online it appears that it works decently well. Not sure if it could harm the phone in any way but it’s definitely possible to enable it
It's just overclocking the panel, some can do it some can't and it'll potentially degrade your display
I suppose. On the other hand, at launch, Google gave me US$300 for my old Pixel 3a XL and threw in a pair of Series-A buds. So, the price was $US449 less US$300 meaning US$149 for the phone and buds. (And I had only paid US$200 for the Pixel 3a XL when I bought it as an open box unit.)
Re the fingerprint reader. Having used the 6 and the 6a extensively, I find the 6a reliability in a different league to the 6. Yeh still room to improve but it's so much better.
i bought my 6A yesterday for 370$ and i think it was worth. I was thinking about buying Poco F4 instead but the better camera and the longer update support was the reason to buy the Pixel 6A.
Poco might be rich in specs, but the software is really unreliable.
Iphone midrange 60hz and the screen of the pixel 6a is fast I had the nothing phone 1 which is 120hz and the pixel 6a doesn't seem that much slower in using it
Pixel 6a is going for around $350 on Swappa brand new. A steal at that price. I bought a used Pixel 6 Pro and it was so bug ridden that ended up selling it. Now hoping the new 6a will not have any of the bugs that Pro had (Wifi kept disconnecting, Overheating, Bluetooth/cellular disconnecting, etc)
Edit: I'm in love with my 6a. It is amazing. Much better than the pixel 6 pro that I had. Perfect size. Amazing haptic feedback. Love it.
Nice ! Thanks for coming back and giving us an update
Upd: Bluetooth still disconnects from airpods.
Still lagging. Battery still shit.
I just switched to the 6a because in Canada right now, carriers are selling it for 240CAD and for that price, it's a steal!!
Wish u would review the nothing phone 1....
What about a 6a for 350€?
Google needs to improve the screens on the pixels. I have a pixel 6 and find the screen quite poor ( poor nits etc) . After purchasing the P6 I looked at a few Samsung phones- S20fe , S22 and the iphone 13 I felt very disappointed with the pixel 6 screen
Just bought this phone for 350USD (370 after taxes), coming from an aging Pixel 3a XL that recently received its last security update, wanted a higher end option this time but cash is scarce and I can't wait, hope they keep improving and maybe my next one will be a Pixel 8/9 Pro, though as a proponent of headphone jacks and expandable storage, might switch to a Sony Xperia III V or equivalent
Nobody cares when apple sells a $1000 phone with 60hz but when it comes to google, everyone is pissed
watching this one my Pixel 6a! upgraded from Pixel 3a XL and honestly I feel 6a is the same phone because of the android 12 experience and Camera performance 😂 Eagerly waiting for Android 13 on the tesor chip of my Pixel 6a !
Amazing video quality. Always a big fan of your quality and content.🔥🔥
9:29 you forgot to turn off extra dim. happens to me as well, lol.

Please review Asus Zenfone 9 next.
Which music player is that ?
Gotta say one thing - I find it kinda strange that when tech reviewers talk about budget Iphone SE its ''the best single camera in this price range. the most consistent with the best color and noise management''. But don't mind pointing out its the 'same camera hardware Google's been using for years & unfortunately not the new sensor as seen in the latest Pixel 6 lineup' when talking about the Pixel 6A. Not the mention all the backlash Google got due to its 60hz display.
Don't get me wrong Mr Beckman, this is by no means a dig at you. The review is, as usual, spot on with all the pros and cons perfectly balanced and pointed out. But seems to me that the YT tech community in general does have a weird sense of objectivity from time to time. Kind regards , B
I haven't reviewed the iPhone SE though...
I like the slimmer 6a, I compared at a Best Buy today...The only issue I have is that fingerprint sensor! You can trade in a n older pizel with Google and the 6A will cost about 159$ Us
What people are not saying is this phone charges very fast for the first 30 minutes. 0 to 60 percent practically. It just slows down after that point which is not a problem if you need a top up before going out. 4500 mah battery for a one handed phone is a win win.
I have bought this mobile on the sale that happened in India. Big Billion Days sale from Flipkart. Price was dropped all the way down to 338 USD Dollars roughly (28K INR) including all the banks offers. I'm totally happy that I have bought the mobile except the battery backup, on average 6 hrs battery backup it can give. I'm more into google eco system now.. Hate Apple eco though..
I'd like to get this, but I really wanted a telephoto lens. As good as it is, I'll probably get the Pixel 6 Pro. Those tele lens are a great addition since I can nicer zoom on people.
Those tele lenses really spice up the portrait shots!
Can you ask mr mobile to post more videos
