  • Lots of opinions back and forth on this one. Some people are dead set on trap shooting as an off season activity that helps you be more accurate in the field. Today we debated that topic. The other end of the argument is that it’s too controlled and it doesn’t replicate what you’ll see on a hunt. Let us know in the comments what you think! I’ve seen most of these debates and I’m starting to think Joey would make one hell of a lawyer.

I think trap is good but it always birds going away from you. Skeet, and sporting clays would be a better clays game to get better with hunting ducks because of the left to right clays.

As clay sports go trap is the dullest, too static for me

I can say I've seen plenty of guys that shoot a bit and I would call good shots and I e seen them miss those close birds and I believe a lot of that is they are racing others to get to the bird first and a pulling trigger before on target and I've seen some shoot a duck at 10 yards and fire all 3 shots and shot all the way around bird. Just not the bird. And I would say sporting clays would be better practice especially I'm you go to different ranges for diff courses.

Practice makes permanent, not perfect. If you practice using poor form, it will hamper your growth as a shooter.

Shooting ANY shotgun sport makes you better with a shotgun...
Also, teal are among the slowest of all waterfowl species...
Their size (or lack thereof) and their agility causes them to seem to be moving faster then they actually are...

Most people watching can probably outperform both of y'all in the field or trap.
