The transitional theme group at the recapitulation of the slow movement, 13:25 onward, always takes my breath away. Just the way the two instruments converse so tenderly and complete each other’s lines…
My best friend told me this reminded her of us, she plays piano and I used to play violin. Now I really want to go back so that one day we can play this together, wish me luck:)
Composed for the superb violinist from Mântua Regina Strinasacchi. The first performance was in April 29 1784 and it is said that Mozart played the piano part from memory using a kind of shortened notation; the emperor Joseph II could hardly believe his eyes and ears.
This is one of the last Mozart's last violin-piano sonatas. These set of violin-piano sonatas is like a necklace of gems, but most music lovers know only two of them (when they know): the Bb major and the e minor. They have to discover all the necklace.

Never have I heard such an intricate for an open G as a third tension-releaser at 9:54. Incredible for one who would get intoxicated and party often, haha!
The first Beethoven sonata in D major is in some ways very similar to this, in the first movement at least. Presumably he (the young Beethoven) knew it well.
Wondered about the sentence in the (very useful) description: [...] Mozart's own entries in his own thematic catalog, the 26 sonatas for violin and piano are listed as being for piano with the accompaniment of violin. I think the author means 36 sonatas. There are even more if one counts spurious works, but normally one counts 36. (And 26 is just a typoe I think.)
why three flats in the Andante's key signature? was this one of the conventions of the time (similar to the one flat sometimes seen in the period to designate G minor)?
One of the most beautiful slow movements in the violin sonata repertoire… just gorgeous.

every mozart piece i hear is the most exquisite one i've ever heard until i hear the next one
One of the most beautiful Mozart’s pieces. Thank you a lot!
Wow It's a live recording😮

Gratitude et émerveillement
I have performed this several times (piano) and it truly is a musical work of art. Definitely more challenging than any of the piano sonatas .
Learning it now, and the 3rd movement is full of awkward sections! But I do enjoy the 1st movement

Yes and Bach, Haendel, Beethoven, etc. too!
The introduction of this piece is simply beautiful ❤️
beginning 10:52 he brings it to a goosebumps twist at about 11:50 and then tranquilizes
Wonderful
this is beautiful. this is my all time favorite mozart violin sonata

Magnifica, una delle composizioni di Mozart più belle della storia
So Beautiful ! Thank you very much !
That's a very Beethoven-like Mozart...
Or rather the other way around. But yes, K.454 is the "Mozart Kreutzer".
The first Beethoven sonata in D major is in some ways very similar to this, in the first movement at least. Presumably he (the young Beethoven) knew it well.
Marcelo good observation! I think Mozart took more than his usual 15 minutes to write a sonata for piano with violin. LOL
So VERY beautiful ! THANK you !
Mozart: Here you go *hands Strinascacchi her score*
Strinascacchi: Where is your part?
Mozart: *points to his head* in my noodle!
I first heard this sonata with an organ and a violin, which I still think is even more striking.
Mozart played more at the organ than piano during his life (in concert anyway)!
Ge-eeeezus! Bloody wonderful duo music-making. Living refinement....
Holy big boy chords in the intro. His violin sonatas are somehow beefier piano-wise than his piano sonatas.

What a gem! :)
A pure ✨️ wonder.
Brett there
It's perfect :))
Of course it is, it's Mozart. Try to find a flaw or imperfection in one of Mozart's compositions, I bet you won't be able to.
Thank you
Fabulous
esta pieza es una maravilla diossss 11:50
bellissimo davvero!!! solo una cosa: stonatura di un fa a minuti 6:30!!! però è davvero molto bello! complimenti al violinista! e anche al pianista!!!
Stavano suonando in live.

Well... The andante is in Eb major, so three flats in the key signature are to be expected.
