      Thanks for the links Chris, always appreciate your videos.
      However, when I link to the Plug n Play controller, it sends me to a general search results page for controllers (mostly BTF lighting)
      I was able to find an active listing for Domestic Automation by googling the description, but unfortunately I get the: Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
      Are you aware of any other way to source the boards?

    Hi @ChrisMaherDIY - Firstly, i really love watching your videos to see what can be done with LED lighting on a budget. 💥💥
    Question:- If i bought a Govee RGBIC led rope light, would i be able to connect a WLED module to it and get more out of it? If not, when do you recommend using the WLED module?

    Chris, you have great videos! Bless you! I am having problems staying connected to WLED on ESP32 to power my permanent outdoor lights. That brought me to this video but this isn't a solution for that, I don't think. The power supply is 36 volts. Boy, I feel like I'm so close. I thiink I'm not alone in this problem. Any suggestions would be amazing. Thank you!!!

    Another great video! question though.. re Sound Reactive builds.. Have you experienced any issues with your sound reactive set up ? I recently followed your tutorial on how to set up ESP32 with sound reactive, used the same components, however, every now and again the sound reactive portion would stop working after a power cycle, and the only way to get it back is to re-flash the ESP32? it's so annoying. I can't find any forums that can explain why this is happening. Any thoughts? cheers.

    I'm new to all this but thanks to you I have decided to go this route instead of spending hundreds on boxed LED kiys, so Thank You So Much!! BUT... I'm having issues with WLED showing my lights offline at times and I don't know why. So when I saw this video, I was excited because I figured this was my pathway to a solution. I went to my Wi-Fi settings on my phone, but did not see WLED-AP listed. I then went into configuration within the WLED app and changed the option under the WLED-AP Always instead of Disconnect after boot. I was then able to see WLED-AP as one of my Wi-Fi networks, but it keeps trying to connect to the previous Wi-Fi and doesn't seem to work. So while I was excited to be saving money, and FINALLY was able to figure out how to get wled on my esp32 and turn the lights on, I'm kinda discouraged now because I have 11 five meter rolls just in and need to splice and run everything, But I'm afraid of these issues l connectivity issues continuing. Please please can someone walk me through resolving these issues. 🙏

    Hi Guys,
    Hi Chris,
    I am currently in the final planning stages of my LED project. I have just reached a point where I don't know exactly how to do it and if it will work. So I wanted to get your expertise on board. The idea is that I lay 0.5 meters of Gove M1 (60 RGBIC / meter) LEd strips in a wooden acoustic panel. A total of 8 of these little strips.
    I wonder if I can now really just string T pieces together and it still works. I have also considered using Wago terminals instead of the T connectors.
    Best regards
    Auer Bernhard, a big fan

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Před 9 měsíci +5

      Thanks for watching and great question! You generally don't need a data boost as long as your first led is close to the controller. But if you let's say have the controller and then 2 meters of wire and then the first led, the data signal might be too weak to make it to the first led resulting in the lights flickering or not working. Having that first led on the board automatically boosts the data signal letting you then run a good distance of wire to the led strip without having any issues with flickering.

      In the LED settings, you can ADD another data line :)
      On ESP8266's you can have 3 in total
      On a ESP32 you can have around 6 I think it is, ESP32-C3 can only do 3 like 8266's.

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! This video was in response to a lot of questions like "i dont have wifi at my cabin, can I still use WLED?" Or "I dont have wifi when i'm at a festival but I want to build something with LED's. Can I use WLED?" This video goes over how you can still control lights even if you are not in range of any wifi. I am curious though, what situation would someone be in where controlling lights like I went over in this video would not be a possibility? The only scenario I can think of is if someone doesn't have a smartphone. I think there are IR remotes that you can use but I have not looked into compatibility with WLED.

    • @smlt1308
      @smlt1308 Před 7 měsíci

      Ah thanks! I was thinking a situation in which someone still has internet, maybe even a home wifi network, but no other devices such as a cell phone with wifi capabilities. A bit semantic but I think the big confusion is wifi v. internet. You can have a wifi device such as a cell phone and even without home internet, still use that wifi connection like you showed in your video. The situation I was thinking of is wether or not you have home internet, you don't have any devices capable of using the actual wifi communication protocol 802.11. Some people often have an internet connected computer connected via ethernet on the 802.3 standard but they don't have any wifi capable devices, even with internet. Thanks anyways!@@ChrisMaherDIY
