Why are these reporters claiming Dangote is being "strategic" by starting with Diesel & Aviation fuel in order to recoup money? Any senior secondary school chemistry student will know that the fractional distillation process of crude produces those products first before getting to petrol. Journalists, do better, don't just repeat talking points you heard somewhere that sounded correct.

In fractional distillation, the first is petroleum gases, kerosene(jet fuel), gasoline(petrol), diesel , fuel oil, lubricating oil in these descending other according to their boiling point. so which should come out first , the lower boiling point or the higher boiling?

Dangote had to import crude because Nigeria doesn't have enough crude to meet the demands of OPEC quota and Dangote Refinery.
As an OPEC member, Nigeria has a production quota of 1.78million barrels per day. According to OPEC, Nigeria is struggling to meet this quota, in fact as at February 2024, Nigeria's crude oil production dropped by 7.3%.
Hence, Dangote needs to import crude for its refinery until Nigeria's crude oil production improves.

It means that at the pump ,it would be 1,500.
So it means we are just where we are, and inflation can't come down because diesel is critical in logistics.
Diesel contributes to the price of cement.
It should be LESS than N1000/ litre at bulk purchase, then at most N1000 / Litre at the pump.
