Mate I was so impressed with this review, of what is obviously a top notch place, that if I could ...... I would give you many more thumbs-up.
The place - It is 100% the sort of place where I like to go on my own or with family. It looks, comfy, clean and above all welcoming. My sort of place. Who wouldn't like it?
The filming & voice - I really liked the effort you put into your videoing. And that's including the SlowMo. Thank you for going that extra yard to make it enjoyable to watch.
The Manager & Cook - The background story really helped paint a picture of who they are and where they're coming from a business.
The tucker - It looked top notch to me. The opening shots of it going onto the plate made it torture being on the other side of the screen. Again, well done!
Final chat with Manager - Added a lot and was a lovely way to end it.
I know it's not Spain, sunshine and by the sea. But, this food review, for me anyway, is your best yet. It makes me want to jump on a plane and go there.

Oh and one more thing. Back streets and avoiding touristy areas is precisely how I and my good lady operate. I far prefer discovering interesting Mum & Dad cafes that are off the beaten track. And, based on what I am seeing anyway, Golden Union is 100% my type of place. Cheers from Oz.

Clean tidy, beautiful looking place
The quality is there precisely because its NOT a chain - family run means you have ultimate control over quality in each dish that goes across the pass - all you need to do is care about what you put your name to and they really seem to
That batter looked so light and crispy, like tempura.

Last saw this on TV when shown on-Homes Under the Hammer when they were in Oxford Street and walked past into Soho.

Yes I understand about the location and rents etc ! But for fish and chips it’s ridiculous ! These are tourist places ! Not for locals for sure

Wow - so surprised you had not heard of this place! My husband and I have been going here for the last 10 years and have been consistently gobsmacked by how good it is. So glad you have now stopped by and put this review out on your channel. Honestly, no place can beat it - and now we have to go for a meal next week!
And just as a sidenote, the tartar sauce here is so incredible … just saying.

A real hidden gem. I absolutely love a good fish and chips and to have all elements that well done is a treat, sometimes tartar sauce can be to oily but that looked lush. My mouth was watering. X

Its Soho, rates are high, maybe thats why the cost of F&C is high. Take a look at a bag of Chips. £4.95. We popped in a few years back, looking at the size of the fish we walked out. Ps where do they get their Fish, always ask hopefully not from a Norwegian factory ship. Its not a cheap meal anymore. Ask how many locals use it? Its in the middle of Tourist London, here today gone tomorrow.

Can always tell by that bright beaming smile on your face that something is going to be good and this certainly did look good. That delicious light batter and delicate tartar sauce. No worries with the slo-mo thing you made up with the ending commentary 👍

Yey! Finally a lovely place to eat with good service. The fish and chips looked amazing, along with the mushy peas and curry and tartare sauce. Nice to hear the pies are homemade and they do a plant based menu. Food with a smile. 😊

This looks good, but chip shop curry sauce does brilliantly with fried fish.
That food looked wicked, mushy peas for me anytime of the day and those looked good. Mushy pea fritters are nice, chill the mushy peas then make them into like patty or burger size dip in a batter and shallow fry in olive oil, wonderful with salt and vinegar, cheers DJ, thanks.

If ever you are South of the river maybe try Superfish. 3 branches ie Morden/Cheam and near Epsom. Best that I have had.

Looked great---but for £17+, the chip portion size was SMALL!....and the fish was on the small side also.
Just my opinion based on what I saw on the plate...
I'm exactly the same Darren... If i find Fish & Chips that are out of this world... I'll keep on returning time and time again... About ten years ago... We were out and about one Friday lunchtime... And we wanted to grab something quick to eat as we were absolutely Hank Marvin... By pure chance... We stopped off at a Fish & Chip Shop that only used Beef Dripping in their fryers... And we couldn't believe just how incredible their Fish & Chips tasted... We also shared between us... A large pot of Mushy Peas & Curry Sauce... And gave our Fish & Chips a good shake of Salt... And a decent splash of Malt Vinegar too... And for the next three years... We visited there every Friday for their delicious tasting Fish & Chips... Even though it was about a ten mile round trip for us... The quality and flavour of their Fish & Chips were definitely worth it... Sadly though... After we had been regulars here for those last three years... The owner had decided to retire... We were quite shocked at hearing this news... But he had been in the Fish & Chip Shop business for many years... And both he and his wife wanted to enjoy whatever time they had left together... In their happy retirement.
So it was a time of mixed emotions really... As we were happy that they were heading off on a new chapter in their lives together... But i was sad... Because they were no longer going to be frying their delicious tasting Fish & Chips... But the Golden Union Fish & Chip Restaurant... Looks like your own little piece of heaven my friend... But when it's that good... The price is only of a secondary consideration... But surprisingly they're still cheaper than Rick Stein's Padstow Fish & Chip Shop in Cornwall... Which has had various bad reviews for their small portions and high prices... I think the last reviewer i watched... Said that they had been charged £19.00 for their very small potion of Fish & Chips... The Golden Union Fish & Chip Restaurant looked very clean and modern Darren... And they even had their own Golden Union branded crockery too... I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you return to try their home made Pies... And hopefully on future visits... You can also try out their other menu items my friend... Many thanks for this wonderful review Darren... It's very much appreciated my friend... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺

These were the Best Fish and Chips with Home Produced, Tartare Sauce, Curry Sauce and really Delicious Mushy Peas. Superb Customer Service with a Warm Welcome and a Beautiful Smile. Even the very Friendly Proprieter/ Owner had a really Good Conversation about the Wonderful Establishment. 17 Years it has been running. Dazza mate don't beat yourself up about the slow motion mishap. That plate of delicious, fresh, crunchy batter, and the home made sides gives it that extra touch that you would be hard to find in a hidden back street gem of a good old fashioned fish n chippy. And for £17!!, , the prices of fish n chips since brexit seems to have doubled. I'm west london, that wouldn't get you any change from £30! I will be paying a visit there very soon., Give me a quality, family run backstreet restaurant over a chain of soulless, not made with love and care, overpriced junk any day. That honesty looked Yummy yummy 😋!!!
